MTV Making the Band (O-Town) - The Final 5 (2000)
O-Town - Liquid Dreams (2001)
Bittersweet memories, I have a few. Sweet for recalling a simpler time, bitter because of "the one that got away".
A girl? No...the official Ed Edd 'n Eddy stocking cap that was only ever offered through a brief Cartoon Network call-in contest.
I haven't seen this clip since I was 11. It was getting to the point where I thought I made it up but thanks to Internet Archive user bdthe2nd, I was able to reconnect with an almost forgotten part of childhood.
Some background: When I was 11 I was HEAVY into Ed Edd 'n Eddy. I loved near-everything on Cartoon Network anyways, but EEnE was the crown jewel to me and my 8-year-old brother. We quoted it, made drawings, my chat room screen names were all EEnE related in some way.
So you can imagine how pumped I was when Cartoon Network held a call-in contest where you had a chance to win Edd's (Double D to his friends) famous and mysterious stocking cap.
The other prizes were a trip to Bora Bora and an inflatable chair but I couldn't have cared less about either of those things, I wanted the hat. The prize could've been for a million dollars and I would've traded it for that stupid hat. The innocence of youth.
I imagined myself in that hat. I imagined wearing it to school and wearing it around the house in humid 99 degree mountain weather. All the girls would want to go to the school dances with me, I'd finally have the approval of my fellow classmates and my life would be perfect if I had that hat.
I called that number every Friday for two months that summer. I got to where I memorized it and developed muscle-memory from picking up my parents' cordless phone and instantly dialing the number. It was sick.
Unfortunately for me, I never got my hat. I've looked for it over the years, ready to pay an absurd price for it, but one has never surfaced on eBay.
I hear you saying...
>just buy a custom one off etsy
Its not the same and I'll never settle for a cheap imitation. Either its the real deal or nothing at all. All or nothing.
What O-Town said.
In conclusion, if you were one of the lucky ones to win this hat, I hope it made you as happy as I thought it was going to make me. Send me a picture as well, that way I know someone legit won one of these things, because I'm starting to believe they were never actually given away.
O-Town - All or Nothing (New Years 2002)
Out of curiosity, has anyone ever actually made the girl from O-Town’s “Liquid Dreams”? Like, drawn her or Photoshopped her into existence, or something? Because she sounds like a fucking monstrosity, and I bet it would be hilarious.
