Pastor James Delivering A Sermon
MERCY NOTES ™: The Money Problem
Proverbs 30:7-9 (NIV) 7 “Two things I ask of you, Lord; do not refuse me before I die: 8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. 9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God. MERCY writes: In life we often talk about Poverty versus Riches. Some people hate it when they see a Pastor talk about money, but if you have ever lacked or ever been physically poor you would agree with me that poverty is no fun at all & you would wish that somebody would be there to help you come out of that situation. So it’s the responsibly of every Pastor & Preacher to talk about money since it is our God given responsibility to do just that. Hence, I would proceed to help you. God himself told us: He is our shepherd. We shall not lack (Psalm 23). Therefore it is his will for us to live in abundance. Jesus became Poor for our sakes that we through his poverty might become rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9) As a person on this planet You need money. “Money answereth all things” (Ecclesiastics 10:19b). The big questions are: 1) How do you acquire money? 2) How do you use money? Regarding the first question; God giveth power (wisdom & ability) to make wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18). Regarding the second question on how to use money; the purpose of acquiring money is so that we may have something the give to the needy. (Ephesians 4:28b)
