due to popular demand! have a tiny snippet set right before one of my fics, kind of addressing how that situation even came to be! it's not super elaborate but let me know what you think!
what do you want to watch? - prequel
Swipe, swipe. Swipe, tap, tap, swipe. There’s a short moment of pause, and before Debbie can begin again Lou catches her hand with her own. She brings it up to her lips and places a soft kiss to the knuckles, an apologetic smile on her face.
“I don't think I can, tonight.”
Debbie reaches out with her free hand and tucks a strand of hair behind Lou’s ear, brushes the bangs away and leans forward to kiss her forehead. “It’s all good, don't worry.”
And it's clear that she means it, that she’s not trying to force Lou to do anything, but she's restless. Their calm afternoon on the couch feels like it's tearing her nerves apart, but Lou is there holding her and it's holding her together at the edges. At some point, even that is just not enough anymore and she gets up to place down the book she’s been reading, goes to take a shower and let the hot water wash away the anxiousness making her skin tingle. It doesn't really work, and she has a hard time really concentrating on anything when she comes back, the words on the pages of her book flying around and mingling with the thousand threads of thoughts tumbling through her brain.
Eventually, Lou gets up to make dinner and Debbie almost screams in relief of finally getting something to do when Lou asks her to help, but it doesn't last long and then it's back to square one, her fingers itching with the urge to do something.
During dinner, she gulps down a whole five bites before beginning to poke around her plate, suddenly without an appetite.
“You don't like it?” Lou asks, disappointment in her voice like there always is when Debbie doesn't like something she's made, even if it's not a huge meal.
“Huh? Oh no, it’s good, it's good, I just - I don't know,” she sighs, defeated. “I feel like my head’s gonna explode, there’s so much shit in there and I - God, I just don't want to fucking think for once!”
It comes out a lot more aggressive than she meant to, but it’s all building up inside her and there's some way she has to let it out. She’s not even snapping at Lou, but she feels bad immediately.
“I’m sorry, I didn't mean to -”
Lou holds up a hand. “Don't apologize, Deb. I'm still not up for sex, but maybe we can find a compromise?”
Debbie’s reaction is decidedly surprised. She doesn't want to pressure Lou into anything but she also can't keep the pressure inside anymore.
“What are you thinking of?”
“I don't know if that’d help you, but I could still tie you up? You'd still give up control, just not through sex.”
“I don't know… what would you do then? Tie me up and wait?” Debbie laughs a little at that, but there's at genuine question in it.
“Of course I could do that, but what would you be comfortable with? I could just hold you or I could let you kneel in the corner -” Debbie crinkles her nose at that, and Lou smiles reassuringly. “It’s up to you, baby. If it's not what you want, we can just watch a movie, go to bed early, see how it is tomorrow.”
“I - I don't know, I just…”
“I can tie you up and then we can watch a movie, too,” Lou suggests, half teasing, but Debbie just looks like the gears are turning in her head, and Lou raises are eyebrow. “Is that what you want?”
Debbie shrugs. “Maybe? It sounds nice, but I’m not sure, I mean, we’ve never -”
Lou nods, reaching out for one of Debbie’s hands to hold it. “Baby, we don't have to, you know that right? Just… tell me what you want, please.”
Her thumb strokes over the back of her hand and Debbie meets her eyes with a hesitant smile, squeezes her hand once. “I want to try that, yeah. I trust you.”
Lou smiles reassuringly and squeezes her hand again, agreeing quietly. They keep holding hands even as Debbie picks up her fork again - a definitive advantage of having opposite dominant hands - and it's already grounding her, the knowledge that Lou is there, holding her safe.
They clear away the dishes together and once there are only a few left to be dried off, Lou kisses her, soft and quick. “I’ll be right back. Go wait for me in the living room once you're done.”
here's how it continues 😉
