In the land of eternal Spring, Lark would go walking along the long sprawled-out paths of the Ares Estate. It wasn’t often she could meander down the beaten paths without the accompaniment of her Princely charge, and when she found time to do so, she would seize the opportunity to enjoy the solitude so desperately craved.
Though it was naturally Spring year round, it had been a chilly morning and Lark pulled her cloak around her shoulders. If only she could stay lost amid the copse; but a small respite would have to be enough.
She moved down the path, and each footfall was quiet and purposeful. Whatever the day’s agenda would bring, she would be ready for it. While expecting a nice and tranquil walk among the trees, she would be surprised to see a flash of darkness catch her eye off the trail. Shifting her attention to it, she squinted and peered in the distance. A person?
Frowning, she stepped off the path and into the forest. She drew near to the stranger with a cautious stance, her hand resting idly on the hilt of her rapier.
words fall upon her in a strange, conflicting mixture of warmth & chilling cold. the kindness in the timbre of his voice is appreciated. a thing so rare it’s presence awakens that craving in her soul for more. but, it serves as a reminder of how hollow she truly is. and how cruel the rest of the world. having a good heart in a dark and violent land is a death sentence. it seems to invite in the worst intentions. all it has ever done is earn her scars. she wishes her heart could be a little more stoney. maybe then she would not hurt so much.
yet, she offers the man a smile. she would not present anything else, wouldn’t let him understand how heavy her shoulders become. a bastard & an orphan. maybe he already knows. “ yours is...full of light. ” the words are sincere, no matter the hidden emotions and thoughts. “ good soul. makes it...special. ”
✿ for the squad you sent me if you'd like ! (rhaenyra, elorah, rhywin)
what's your muse's relationship with laera?
throwing these under the cut! i removed the things that didn't apply for easier reading. :') aaaand my thoughts on laera's (potential) relationships with each. 🩵
RHAENYRA — laera joining rhaenyra comes at a time where she's on the verge of a breaking point. the blockade is ruining her life; she's starving, confused, work is scarce... it gets worse when people are prevented from leaving the city. laera probably is swayed by the propaganda in rhaenyra's favour, and even more so when she sends them food. rhaenyra offers some sense of stability; a promise in protecting the interests of the smallfolk... honestly, it's an easy choice LOL (even if she is sliiightly terrifed bc she just watched vermithor eat a bunch of people).
FRIENDSHIP. work buddies / recently friends / friendship of need / circumstantial friendship / partners in crime / rhaenyra is the good influence / laera is the good influence / ride or die / enemies to friends / other — smth smth laera is a member of her queensguard and mayhaps trains her in the sword :o
ROMANCE. none.
FAMILIAL. other — i feel like they could have a sister-like relationship, depending on how they get on as friends!
ANTAGONISTIC. other — laera is... opinionated lol. headstrong; stubborn; inflexible. and again depending on how close they become, if at all, she will give her unsolicited advice, while always with the best interest of the smallfolk in mind. she's really going to hold rhaenyra to that.
ELORAH — okay hear me out though.... elorah is a mermaid; laera is an ocean girlie and grew up in a predominantly sea-based culture... what if they knew each other as kids and grew up together?! granted, they have very differing personalities, but elorah might temper laera some as she becomes older. needless to say, laera will advocate for her finding her friend's killers and will help her accomplish it, if asked! also pls imagine them exchanging seashells 😭
FRIENDSHIP. childhood friends / revenge partners! / adventure buddies / partners in crime / old friendship / elorah is the good influence / laera is the bad questionable influence / ride or die
ROMANCE. none.
FAMILIAL. other — again, they could have a sister-like relationship!
ANTAGONISTIC. other — in the beginning, i can see them butting heads. laera is not nearly as idealistic or optimistic about the world around her. she's also been tempered by a harsh uprbinging. they may disagree, and it may annoy laera that elorah is so optimistic, but it's not coming from a place of malice. eventually, they probably do make up lol
RHYWIN — ty for indulging my curiosity on him! i had thought he was a knight, and i'm glad he is! overall, i think rhywin would intrigue her bc she wouldn't understand why he would give up a castle for his loyalties (her opinions of nobles heavily skew toward the negative), but!! the fact he does, having a more personal relationship with someone who doesn't hold their titles above friendships/loyalties would endear her to him.
FRIENDSHIP. team black buddies / adventure buddies / recently friends / friendship of need / circumstantial friendship / partners in crime (carrying out rhaenyra's will, yk??) / rhywin is the good influence / laera is the bad questionable influence
ROMANCE. unrequited (from laera's side)
FAMILIAL. none.
ANTAGONISTIC. other — again, laera is opinionated, and depending on how the relationship between them develops, laera might start off harsh, and mellow overtime. her inflexibilities and stubbornness could annoy rhywin, but ultimately, i think they will find commonality in their loyalties to the people they devote themselves to. <3

“YOU COULD BE MY ONE REGRET, infinitely spiraling me down.” There was a weakness in her voice, lilac eyes flitting passed Jon and over the edge of the wall –– down, down, DOWN. The dead waited below in darkness for her to lose her footing, to slip and fall without his arms there to catch her. Whispers of betrayal slowly chipped away at her trust –– the metal chains that bound her heart to his grew brittle in ice and snow, threatening to break. Maybe she was weak for letting rumors cloud her judgement. Maybe he made her weak. Dany’s eyes met Jon’s then, heated breath leaving her lips in visible smoke, “Sometimes the world feels loud.”
@oathworn sent: “This is the only place I can find comfort these days.”
they stand solemn in the godswood, the weeping tree ever watching with its somber eyes. lyanna is transported many years back in her memory, remembering her lord father praying to the old gods each time he was troubled, remembering brandon, benjen, ned. generations of starks came here for solace; it seems only fitting to her that her son does, too ( though the fact that he has need of succor troubles her, reluctant she may be to show it. ) more than that, lyanna also seeks to offer him comfort, or company, at the very least, and her counsel, too, should he ask.
“dare i inquire about what's bothering you?” the she-wolf imagines it to be many things. winterfell is theirs again, but it is not without cost. they crowned jon king in the north, and that is yet another burden to bear. “i know we have not been acquainted for very long, but i am your mother. and i wish to help you.” lyanna is not one for ruling, and she's more tactless than diplomatic, but she cares a great deal about him, about sansa, about keeping what's left of their family intact. “you must have so many questions.” this time, she smiles, but it's tinged with sadness. she wonders if jon will understand the truth once she lays it bare, or if he will scorn her for all the careless things she did in her youth. “you need only ask, my love. it's an ugly tale, but i am willing to tell it.”
IT FELT AS IF THE SUN HAD gone out or that it had never existed to begin with, like the world was nothing but white ice and a black sky. The darkness was tangible, her breath came as frost in the night. When Daenerys found the courage to look past the wall’s edge ( she only managed a single glance down !!! ), she could not see the ground. The wall arose from an abyss . . . from nothing. It had no start, and it had no end.
“I thought you’d like this.” / @oathworn
The lord commander’s voice came from behind her, but before she could turn to him ( she did nothing with haste atop the edge of the world ) black wool enveloped her frame, bringing with it a warmth that had long since left her –– minutes felt as long as hours on the wall. Lord Snow adjusted his dark cloak around her, tying at her neck to secure it in place. It takes her seconds –– or minutes, she couldn’t be sure –– to respond with lips the same shade of purple as her eyes. “I thank you, my lord, but p-please do not leave yourself wanting for my benefit. Aren’t you c–– aren’t you cold ?? ”
Lark remained seated in the nook near the hearth. She had a mug of hot cocoa in her hand. She enjoyed the warmth seeping into her hands as she felt her body slowly warm up. How Jon enjoyed this kind of climate she would never know.
When he spoke, her gaze softened on him. “ I certainly hope so...” she replied in a soft morose tone. She would have never guessed that someone she mistook as a hobo lost in her wood would turn out to be a good friend.
“ As soon as I am able....” she began as she pursed her lips a bit. “ I shall return all the kindness you have given me, Jon.”
“ Is that what you think I want, Jon?” Lark asked in return. The bitter snow that fell around them nipped into her bones and she pulled her winter cloak tightly around her frame. The cold had never been her friend and she often found herself pondering how Jon could endure such a climate.
Sighing and seeing her breath before her, she frowned.
“ I couldn’t make you disappear even if I wanted to.” she shifted her emerald gaze to him. Her nose wrinkled then as her cheeks were rosy.
“ Could we go inside? I can barely feel my limbs.”
