I just thought of a reason why Obann might want the Beacon.

In the campaign, Obann collects Yasha, The Laughing Hand, and The Inevitable End because (if I recall correctly??) he believed that none of them could die. He was sorta right too, considering Yasha’s relentless rage, The Laughing Hand’s heart being in a separate, safe location, and whatever the fuck the Inevitable End had going on.

The reason he wanted three unkillable servants was to ritually sacrifice them three time or something of that nature? Am I remembering that right? I haven’t looked at transcripts but I remember they needed sacrifices in order to free the chained oblivion and my understanding was that he was going to use the same three chumps for each round of sacrifice. I think maybe it wasn’t so much sacrifices as it was the strain of breaking the chains would kill normal people?

But the Laughing Hand and the Inevitable Ruin were not easy to get. Like, #1 was locked in a vault in Xhorhas and #2 was chopped up in three separate pieces and scattered all over the place.

I think, in the animated show, Obann’s plan is to use the Beacon to make his followers unkillable. Speed up consecution somehow so he could use whomever he wished. Since to Beacon has been stolen, it’ll be easier to get.

Now, upon realizing the Beacon will free his captives, he’ll have to go to plan B.

Rewatching mighty nein animated, and something at the beginning of episode 8 caught my attention. When Obann says “remember why you’re here. Remember my plan.”

Obviously his goal is to get the beacon for something about the Angel of Irons, but what was the actual plan? How did Yasha or Obann know to go to the sewers? Did Obann know about either Essek and the other Kryn soldiers or the party’s heist attempts? Was the plan to literally send in Yasha to kill everyone insane? How would she have fared against Trent?

Even being strong as fuck mind controlled I don’t think Yasha could single handedly take Trent who would surely be guarding the beacon. What the fuck was Obann’s plan???
