Your character can be a shithead without you treating your table badly, and for the love of anything, don't burden your table with "nah, my character is an asshole so I'm not going to help". I have absolutely seen and encouraged parties to leave those characters at the inn.

try explaining the reason he's a tiger and it's just worse. like "okay there was a Halloween episode where they all dressed up like NPCs from the campaign and Sam was a rakshasa." ("okay, it's Halloween that makes sense but why is no one else dressed up?") "okay so that was last campaign and because Sam is not right, he decided to wear the same clothes he wore last campaign in each corresponding episode this campaign. so it's not Halloween this time. it's just the same episode number as a Halloween episode last campaign. ...he also did this with his beard."

Finally back again! This took… once again, longer than I expected, but my tablet doesn’t work all the time, and it’s been hard to work around. But I managed to get it done even with the obstacles, and… hopefully I’ll be posting this closer to when I finished it than I did the last one (image IDs are not easy to write though lol)
Now that I’m finished with this reference sheet for Evie I’ll be starting on Iris soon- I have most if not all my references down, just waiting for my tablet to decide to work again. Anyways, onto the image ID!

I think Monster of the Week is a good system for nice folkloric monsters. You can really set some hard rules like “if the vampire drinks your blood, you have three days to escape before becoming a vampire forever.” No saving throws, just narrative consequences. But it’s also open-ended in what “escaping” means, so players and GMs can put together a ritual or plan a hunt for the vampire or create a scheme involving a flight to Antarctica.
Monsters can also have cool weaknesses without being so bound by statistics. Imagine solving a mystery and along the way you learn the Leech Creature can’t perceive anyone wearing mostly green. Things like that can really make the confrontation feel unique, especially if you only figure it out at the last minute.

Give Your Campaign Weird Gods
If you are running a D&D (or similar type) campaign with active divinities you cannot underestimate how enriching weird-ass, highly specialized, gods are. Every player in your campaign will have at least a vague concept of how one should engage with a god of Storms or Fire or Magic or whatnot.
They’re probably not ready for the living avatar of Cirque Maxime, the God of Spectacle, to decide that every mortal on the continent should bear witness to the party’s adventures with color commentary and reality-show interview segments with those involved, including those killed in the process.
They probably not ready for the consequences of offending Lady Brine, Goddess of Pickling (nor those of gaining her favor, I’d wager.)
They aren’t going to see it coming when the God of Forgotten Things begs their help returning a recovered treasure to obscurity to save the world, or when the God of Second Chances gives their vanquished foe a second go-round.
Even something as mundane as Ludos, God of Play and Toys can bring a strange new angle to the adventure, when the party finds out the traditional set of “Hero” toys made by the church for 300 years look exactly like them.
Or local gods of unreality weaving small hamlets into Lynchian border-worlds whose surreal puzzles must be teased out for one to escape.
Big, broad gods have a lot of power, but little specalized ones have to get clever and/or petty in delightful ways, and have a lot more incentive to interfere directly in the lives of mortals.
Fair warning to the DM. you are equally unlikely ot be ready for one of your players choosing such a god to worship. I should know, my Warlock’s patron is a Lovecraftian Ghost Pyramid scheme.
It's insane to me people still go "people's complaints about the production logistics of C3 are valid" because the still-floating-around complaints about C3's production are just legitimately "polished production and high quality cameras means you're corporate sell-outs because REAL authenticity means jank production, crunchy quality, and scuffed work" and as someone with experience in production, that sentiment is insulting garbage.
I've yet to see a single legitimate complaint about production logistics of C3 that wasn't equating polish with soullessness (which is a fallacy) or wasn't filtered through 40 layers of nostalgia that forgot how unpleasant C1 often is to experience from a production and logistics perspective.
So happy to finally be back! I’ve been working on this for a while, but it’s finally here… my reference sheet for Briar! I’ve been really trying to work on and improve my art style and i’m really happy with and proud of how far I’ve come.
As of posting this (which you can tell i procrastinated on doing, because i finished it on the 2nd and now it’s the 10th… whoops lol), I am currently working on a reference sheet for Evie, so if you’re a fan of the Rolls of Fate podcast and enjoy her as a character, keep your eyes peeled for that! I’m hoping to get it out a lot faster than the time this one took lol

no lie i had a campaign where I tried playing a really chaotic neutral “leave me alone” rouge and ended up attached at the hip to our monk who couldn’t roll higher than a natural 10 to literally save his life bc in our first encounter he called my character “a nice lass” and that was all it took
