Tyndale Life Application Daily Devotion
Devotional for February 19
Finally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself, “I will confess my rebellion to the LORD.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. - Psalm 32:5
Insight
What is confession? To confess our sin is to agree with God, acknowledging that he is right to declare what we have done as sinful, and that we are wrong to desire or to do it.
Challenge
It is to affirm our intention of abandoning that sin in order to follow him more faithfully.

Wrong Side Of The Jordan
“Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.” But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.” …they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land… saying, “The land … that devours its inhabitants, …all the people… are men of great stature. There we saw the giants… we were like grasshoppers in our own sight…” Num 13:30-33NKJV
Holy Spirit spoke into my spirit— “Many Christians are camped on the wrong side of the Jordan.”
Meditating on that word for a while, I remembered, when I became angry with God for not answering my prayer for my daughter. After all, I just wanted her salvation and deliverance, it was a scriptural prayer. The more I prayed the worse things appeared. God had failed me. —But had He? Or had I failed to believe in Him? Wasn’t I trying to stuff God and my daughter into the box of ‘my way?’
Like a stubborn Israelite, I sat on the wrong side of the Jordan, outside of the Promised Land of answered prayer, yelling, ‘I see giants in the land!’ ***God was saying ‘Go in and possess the land in faith.’ ‘But how God? There’s drugs, no salvation, lies, using people. How can I possess this land?’ ***God was saying, “I AM!” “the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.” Rom 4:17bNIV. ‘Call into being those things you have prayed and believed for.’ “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, BELIEVE that YOU HAVE received it, and it WILL BE yours” Mk 11:24NIV. ‘But God I want to see the answer first,’ I cried out. ***God was saying, ‘Don’t you remember the things I’ve done for you? What about when you were asking me for your husband’s salvation? Didn’t I tell you the same thing?’
I remembered— Lou got so much worse as I prayed for his salvation. All of his faults were magnified by seven. As I told Lou what I needed— he gave me what I had come to hate. Then God told me to only bless Lou with my words. Tell him how wonderful a husband and father he was— ‘but God that’s a lie.’ “…Calling those things that are not as though they were…” Now forty years later, Lou is still living for Jesus. —‘Yes God I remember.’
Thus, I begin to ‘call those things that are not as though they were,’ with my daughter. Now, she too is born again. Not perfect but being perfected.
Satan wants nothing more than to keep us in the land of the seeing, rather than in the land of believing. It’s a natural land, going to nowhere, with giants everywhere you look.
BUT across the Jordan is the Promised Land of believing and then seeing. Yahweh has never changed His ways. Believe— Enter in— Receive. Yes! It looks like giants everywhere! After all, there doesn’t even APPEAR to be a place to set a foot down on anything solid. Appearances are deceiving! The solid rock of Jesus is under everything in the Promised Land! He won’t fail! Every giant will be slain for you, when you obediently enter in and stand in words of faith! Can you enter in? It’s your choice! You choose.
PRAYER: Papa God, I remember well how faithful You are! Just as I remember my trying to be in control is ridiculous. Forgive our unbelief I pray. Help us begin to call things as though they were, in Jesus’ name I pray.
