i'm still deeply into making fake porcelain things -> here's a little fox. also featuring hollow filigree joints which i have wanted to make for a long time but haven't had the right project or motivation for.

another teapot animal head variant, because this sculpt is comforting to revisit. i find the speculative biological implications of the tea cup babies disturbing, but have willed them into existence regardless.
i got inspired by antique furniture -> decided to try and make a wooden doll.
she is whittled entirely out of balsa wood with a craft knife, and colored with wood dye. the cabinet has miniature hinges made of tube beads and a metal rod, and closes with a magnet. she absolutely should hold a sentimental & important object, but i don't have any that are the correct size, so i just put in some cute trinkets.
fighting art block with silly little projects like this Teapot Animal, sipping from your cup. i finally got to experiment with gold leaf on a bjd & that was a lot of fun.
this thing has been rolling around on my desk since summer & i have painted it four or five times to try and get it right. finally succeeded, and here they are.
the bases the chest joints connect to are glued to the hourglass with epoxy, but otherwise the doll? sculpture? is strung with elastic, and i can take it apart like a regular bjd. as you can see, the moon & sun sides can either face in the same or separate directions.
the idea for the sculpt is legit just my brain getting stuck on the expression "hourglass waist" and immediately conjuring up this rpg boss.
teapot dragons!
in a way i like this design a lot. on the other hand i think the original teapot animal having a humanoid face is part of the charm; it is supposed to be uncanny. anyway, here be dragons, both available in my shop.
