Studio Project Ecila : Big Update
In this video i am showcasing the map so far and all of the level design that i have been doing which involves a lot of objects ( Various Buildings, Busstops, benches, signs, traffic lights, trees, roads, fire hydrants, streetlights and more) being copied and resized around the map.
When first starting to plan out how the map was going to be done i started by laying out the roads and so where the buildings would be started to shape up. In the spaces left i had to decide what buildings would go where whilst not creating too linear of a path and instead having some twists and turns in order to navigate the map.
Early Stages of the map with only Safe zone / Spawn point part of the map complete and the basic road and building placements for the first sections done. From here i proceeded to start adding the street objects and replacing and angling buildings to create more space for interaction.
From this angle you can see the varying sizes of each building and how they are positioned to look like city districts and very similar to how an actual city would be layed out ( With the exception that the foundation of our map is circular ) hehe. Without too many buildings to choose from i had to drastically change the size and look of some of them so that they dont look too identical and confuse the user as they would think they are in the same place as they were before.
Here is a shot of the map layout as it is at the moment. The implementation of monuments give the map landmarks that allow the user to be aware of where they are in the map and not to get lost. These landmarks will also be points of interest for further interaction and gameplay to take place. This will most probably come in the form of riddles and puzzles both requiring mechanical skills and problem solving thinking.
