Parcel-gilt silver two-handled basket with trompe l’oeil cloth, P. Ovchinnikov, c. 1876  (at Christie’s)

Chased and engraved to simulate a wicker basket draped with a damask and lace cloth, the damask enameled with varicolor geometric motifs, the ends with twisted ropework handles.

Possibly the perfect Easter basket and definitely in the “Top Ten Objets de Vertu I’d Like to Touch”!
