The concept of Mike wheeler writing a book series about the the upsidown and the children who fight it, and one day he’s looking online about it and finds ao3 and that everyone is shipping Will and Mikes characters and it eventually causes Mike to figure out his own feelings for Will

Imagine Mike getting jealous of a boy flirting with Will. Then he gets surprised/confused/offended when said flirty boy sees Mike and instantly changes targets, trying to schmooze up Mike which pisses Mike off bc "how dare you choose me when Will is right there!"

Or...

Mike acts as a deterrent for all boys interested in Will by accidentally attracting/pulling them instead. Will is jealous Mike has more luck with the lads. Mike tries to convert every guy back to crushing on Will again cuz "are you idiots blind? I'd date Will for sure if I had a chance"

Said flirty boys now invested in getting Byler together cuz omg childhood friends to lovers is our fav trope cuz they're also those cringe folks who ship irl peeps
