#at university #*as a student. apparently they might do saint saens 3 and dvorak 9 next year and thus might need an english horn ringer #other players are Very chattery about doing dvorak 9 and are Insistent that maestro brings me back for it 🥺 😭#very sweet of them #but who knows if they'll actually need me idk what their rep or their roster will look like next year #maestro keeps being like after ten years...this is finally it...i cant believe it... and im like Dude youre talking about me like im dying.#im not going anywhere 😭#not yet anyway. as far as i know #sasha speaks #oboeposting

opera opening went well and some of my friends were there and one of them brought me flowers 🥺 🥺 🥺

for all the bitching and moaning i was doing earlier rehearsal actually wasn't that bad tonight. and it's all thanks to my friends #myfriends

#sasha speaks #oboeposting #well the rehearsing itself was tedious and physically straining. but #1. the principal horn brought me a giant iced beverage from starbucks #2. one of our actors brought in gender reveal cakepops to enjoy during break (it's a boy)#3. one of our former conducting students stopped by and sat in on rehearsal and stayed to say hello after #he's such a sweet guy i miss him. and a fantastic conductor he was a finalist recently in a big international competition #i thought he was back in brazil these days so it was such a nice surprise ti see him turn up here tonight

#sasha speaks #oboeposting #best verdi opera hands down. not even close.#i wish we could do more lol #but i'm happy enough to do an aria with a singer #i should brush up on addio del passato. logically i know i have heard this aria before i've seen traviata twice but i CANNOT recall it.#which is funny bc like. girl the prominent oboe solo #so sorry but my enjoyment of traviata has only diminished over time i fear. rigoletto excepted i am just Not a verdi guy it would seem #no matter how hard i try #anyway fun to do smth with a singer for once but could we have done like. one andante and one allegro?#two andantes is pretty. mm. monotonous #(idc what the written marking is caro nome is WAY more moderato than it is allegro. come on now)#and verdi certainly has a good stock of bouncy allegros to choose from no?#should've strongarmed a tenor into doing smth methinks. anyway
