I was so mad that nobody had ever scanned these that I spent an egregious amount of money to do it myself
Redraws of Kurogiri scenes with his real face are surprisingly uncommon however given that Shirakumo’s eyes are very wide just as a resting state, there’s a chance that Kurogiri’s expression is probably close to this in a good amount of scenes
Why do a lot of LOV scenarios have all of them live except for some reason Kurogiri has to die even though his death was objectively the stupidest and cruelest of all of them. What do you mean he “had” to die? No he didn’t. That isn’t true. You can’t even use his quirk falling apart as an excuse because if you can find a way to give skinless Dabi any longer than a month’s prognosis then I’m sure Kurogiri will be fine
The whole expulsion self-sacrifice symbolic death schtick honestly doesn’t apply that well with Shirakumo’s death, even though it’s the reason he does it, and the anime made that even more plain given how fast everything happened. All Shirakumo saw was a bunch of 4 year olds that were about to die if he didn’t do anything, and the debris came at him way too fast to do anything. You could say he should’ve watched his head, but reasonably, you’re already in a chaotic situation and you see children about to die, who would take the pause to watch themselves?
I had the interpretation before that Aizawa’s memory of the moment is flawed and may have applied some level of blame onto Shirakumo because of how unfair the situation is. I’m much more confident about that now. Looking for someone to blame even if it’s the person in question is pretty typical for traumatic grief and not an inditement of Aizawa or anything, but it makes me wish much more that Mic hadn’t held onto the “secret” that it was a premeditated killing
Nobody ended up mentioning it as far as I saw, so I will. His face is insanely scrunched here. Ridiculous levels of scrunch
Don’t worry guys, Shirakumo won’t be dead for long, he will be revived and then enslaved and abused for fourteen years and then he will kill himself
Horikoshi has the tendency to hide foreshadowing and confirmation of major story details in tiny tiny panels. AFO giving Tenko decay, Overhaul being in a Garaki orphanage, Garaki reviving AFO, Garaki being Deku’s doctor… tiny tiny tiny panels that had huge implications on the story. Whether that’s a good choice or not is up for debate but it’s something to keep in mind. Which is why I really hesitate to say that the tiny connections made between Aizawa and Kurogiri in the USJ arc is unintentional. It’s even more obvious in the anime and bones would’ve gotten more information, so.. not that there was a fleshed out story by that point, we know there wasn’t, but it could’ve been as simple as “they knew each other in the past at some point”
