Obselidia (2010)
Diane Bell's Obselidia - a gentle exploration of love and life. I am SO glad I found this film on the shelves in Wells Library. I'd heard of it, but hadn't really known anything about it. I can see why Zak Mulligan's cinematography won at Sundance in 2010 when the film came out. It's rich and has a nourishing feel to it. I felt drawn in to this story of a library clerk consumed with preserving awareness of things that are becoming obsolete. Thanks, Diane. I'm looking forward to seeing your next film Shiva & May. Day 236 of A Yearlong Film Viewing Balancing Act.
You know they say a person grows and grows and then one day they just stop. And then it’s just decay…or maybe the worlds like that…maybe it’s all dying off. Species by species, object by object, everything in decline. And if it is all going to disappear tomorrow, how are we going to live today?

I think the notion of perfection is a platonic trick to make us feel inadequate.
