which plugins do you use in Obsidian?
okok this is going to be a long post because I have multiple vaults for multiple projects which use different plugins. soooo answer beneath the cut :3
Core Plugins
Canvas: Good for general planning and arranging scenes when writing
Daily notes: Useful if you want to use Obsidian as a planner. Now, I mostly use it for my game/mod dev to keep track of my progress/to-dos
Graph view: Always using this for my d&d planning vaults, helps me see how/where things are connected and where I could try connecting things more
Outgoing links: i love links :)
Search: yeah, this should be obvious why I like it
Templates: Very useful for planning and worldbuilding. I also used it in conjunction with the daily notes when I had a planner vault.
Community Plugins
Discord Rich Presence: I don't have this on all of my vaults but I like it as a way for my friends to see that I'm busy/what I'm working on. Sometimes they'll get curious and ask me about it too!!
Novel Word Count: This is SOOOO much better than the core word count plugin. Shows you the word count for each note and folder, with options for page count, reading time, % of writing goal and more.
Status Bar Pomodoro Timer: Pomodoro/Animedoro are my go-to way of forcing myself to lock in. I hate having to constantly tab in and out of Obsidian to fiddle with that stuff though so I like having it in the vault itself.
Style Settings: This is more cosmetic than functional for the most part and I didn't see much point in it at first. But depending on the theme you use, you can really make it fit your needs. I almost exclusively use ITS Theme now and I use style settings to change the colour scheme, alignment, workspace size and so much more.
Iconize: Lets you add icons to your folders and notes. I use this a lot in the homebrew settings for my tabletop games since it 1) helps me distinguish what kind of note something is at a glance and 2) looks nice :3
Keep the Rhythm: gives you a heatmap based on how much you've written. I like this to see how much I'm writing and how productive a particular week or month has been.
Task Progress Bar: I looooove using checkboxes to keep track of what needs to be done and having the visual bar of how much I've done/how much I have left to do helps me stay motivated to keep going.
Click Clack: makes little typewriter noises when you type. I like the audible feedback as I write.
Typewriter Scroll: Keeps the view centered in the editor. Also lets you dim the writing outside of your active paragraph for better focus.
TTRPG Statblocks: I create statblocks for both core and homebrew statblocks using this, again because I hate tabbing in and out of Obsidian ESPECIALLY when I'm GMing. I usually have obsidian on one screen and Roll20 on the other so this works fine for me.
