Ok new fic idea- aphmau role swaps

This is gonna get a little complicated but holding with me. Basically personalities and ideals should mostly be kept the same.

Aphmau and Aaron are swapped. Aaron was injured rather brutally in the loss of his village wondering into phoenix drop and lost his memory while Aphmau was revived in a cold wasteland by a mysterious white-haired lady lerking.

Sasha and vylad are swapped. Sasha was a shunned member of her guard and ended up becoming a shadow knight just like vylad and his family but vylad ran away and met nana. He died protecting her the way Sasha died protecting laurance. Sasha brought "irene" back and vylad had his memories altered.

Irene and shad are switched. Instead of everyone turning against shad for the magic he had, they turned on irene. She became "the shadow matron" after centuries of shame and guilt of her actions deciding if the world can't be great full for her blessings they deserved what would come. Shad on the other hand, used the canon to save his daughter (as best he could) and became "shad the destroyer of terror"

Laurance and nana. Laurence when young ran away because he couldn't bear his life after losing his family. No real connection to cadenza sadly. So he set up shop with his wyvern company. He was on the run to keep ungrth safe eventually he becomes a home for all the wyverns except raven who is swapped with ungrth. Nana ended up in metili and was taken in by the lord Joe. Her magic was trained, and she became a guard. Eventually vylad sacrificed himself to save nana and joe leading to his shadow knight statis and nana later saves aaron, leading to her becoming a sk herself.

Garroth and Zane swapped. Zane was probably disowned and in my head was the cause of Aaron's problems still. He took aaron to phoenix drop overwhelmed with guilt. In this is imagine Zane wasn't actively trying to hurt anyone he was just in the wrong place with the wrong cursed amulet looking for help. Aaron doesn't remember this and this is how the betrayal stung the end of session 1 happens. Garroth became lord despite hating the idea, instead of being outright evil he does everything "for the good of O'Khasis". He feels an unbearable responsibility to his home and probably isn't a good lord. Tbh I could go on about this one but I won't.

Aphmau has a grudge against garroth because Sasha did *not* keep it a secret her "shadow matron"(sasha is still a shadow knight and vauge cultist to the sk cause but more of a rebel i this). Garroth wanted to use her power to save O'Khasis from their "doomed path" because let's be real, garroth isn't a good lord. He'd take everything to the extreme.

Dante and gene swap. This one is kinda hard to do- gene is still vaguely evil but not actually. He did a bunch of fucked up shit in his youth bc he thought he could get away with it. Instead of dying tho he panicked and erased the memories of himself and (on accident) dante from the whole village. Dante was destroyed but putting things back ment gene could get in trouble, so he panicked and ran away leaving Dante along. In his grief Dante turned to irene and became a shadow knight while gene wondered to his uncle's eventually ending up in Phoenix drop after helping aaron the same way Dante did. Now gene does *not* end up with two babies. But I dont think Dante does either- kinda. Haven't figured that out yet bc i don't have a Nicole swap (also angst laurgene bc laurance replaces nana? >:3 )

So about that AI post huh?

If you're in the Aphverse fandom and you don't know what that title is referring to, you might want to sit down to read this. It's not... the best.

I want to use this post to both compile all the information I have from my own sleuthing, and express my thoughts and nuanced opinions in one place. I'm incredibly depressed by this whole situation, and I think everyone who's ever been a fan of anything made by this team deserves to sit with this uncomfortable truth with as much information as they need for as long as they need it. So lets get started.

This whole ordeal starts in the summer of 2026 on the main aphmau website, aka Aphmeow.com. As a promotion for their back to school line, this image was uploaded to the website.

Now you might not have clocked this as AI generated immediately, I was skeptical, but you can see where the cracks are showing when you look at the notebook on the right. It looks totally wrong, and once you see it, you can't unsee it.

People rightfully clocked this as an AI generated/assisted image within hours of it's posting, both fans and people who have previously worked with CatFace. I first cocked an ear at this whole controversy because of posts made by a voice actor who used to work with them, and when I dug into it, there was not any confirmation from the official team. In this stage of speculation I also heard a claim that I'm going to put in this post, but I need it to be read with many grains of salt.

There have been allegations made that on a job listing for CatFace studios within the last few years, there was a requirement for applicants to "be comfortable with the use of generative AI in the creative process." I have not seen any screenshots proving this, I have checked their recent LinkedIn listings and not found anything to this effect, and I cannot verify the truth of this claim. I bring it up because its a claim that you will hear thrown around this discussion, and I want it to be treated with a critical eye.

I don't think it's impossible that such a thing was on their job listings, I just cannot find proof that it ever was. Also I think it's important to remember that some companies use products and services that have generative AI features built into them, so comfort with those is necessary if you're going to work with them. It's possible that's what the listing is talking about, or it's possible that higher ups will ask writers to use ChatGPT to improve their workflow. We don't know.

Now let's get back to the thing we have proof of, that promotional picture. This we know was AI generated/assisted because shortly after it was posted, the image was taken off of the website and CatFace posted a statement on their Instagram addressing the controversy.

This statement is... a mess. I don't like it, it gave me a bad feeling the first time I read it, and it's only getting worse the more I sit with it. On the surface this seems... fine, but any additional thinking about it shows some flaws in the arguments proposed by the team who posted it.

The main thing that gets to me is the second paragraph, talking about contract artists and previous incidents. To be frank, CatFace seems like a terrible company to work at as a contract artist. Looking up "catface glassdoor" pulls up numerous reviews left by employees past and present, and discussions about how the reviews left aren't even news to some people. Some controversy about people lying in those reviews, and maybe some of them did, but if enough reviews of your company say the same thing, then it's not judt ex employees with an axe to grind.

A lot of these GlassDoor posts talk about a very toxic work environment, one that is unfortunately common for big channels like this, but is still a problem. A lot of crunch culture, last minute changes to staff and plans, and generally leaving a very bad taste in their employees mouths when it comes to the higher ups of the company. In a culture of crunch, where deadlines are sometimes impossible, artists are pushed to their absolute limit in what they are physically capable of. And if they're a contract worker who's ability to keep getting contract work depends on fulfilling these impossible requirements, they might be pushed so far they take desperate measures.

Like using Generative AI to meet those deadlines. And this is why I take issue with the mention of contract artists and previous incicents in this post. If there is a previous history of contract artists using generative AI to meet production deadlines, that is not necessarily the fault of the individual contract artist, even if this post is trying to make it sound like it is. It's the fault of the company that pushed these artists to their absolute limit so much that this has taken place multiple times.

I've heard mutterings of other antics Jess and Jason have gotten up to with AI on twitter, but I have too much respect for myself to actually log onto that website. So if anyone has any proof of any of that, I'd love to see it. As you may be able to tell though, misinformation spreads fast.

That's why I'm making this post. So that way everyone can see what actual easily compiled evidence there is, and come to their own conclusion about continuing to give their viewership to this company and their products. It's on you to decide if you want to keep supporting these series, and I'm sure you won't be alone if you decide to disown it but take a small handful of your favorite characters and claim them as your own.

So Jason Bravura doesn't know when to shut his mouth and lie and now we're all paying the price for it. In response to... all the stuff I talked about in the original post, Jason took to his favorite website to give us an update (shout out to @menphias-flame for getting these screenshots for me so I don't have to open twitter).

There's so many problems with this I don't know where to even start. I guess the first thing is that clearly there needs to be some kind of work done on the internal Catface team if this kind of thing is happening without Jess or Jason's approval. That's a huge L on their parts.

The second thing is that comment about how this comes at the tail of character skin tones on merch and all I have to say is YEAH THAT'S NOTHING NEW. Skin tones of these characters have been off in merch for a while, and they have been completely butchered in thumbnails for even longer. Their thumbnails can't even get certain characters eye colors right, let alone their skin tone. That is a weak argument for why they weren't involved in this, because skin tones have been an issue for this team since they were Blujay studios.

Third, I really hate how Jason is making a martyr out of himself here. Talking about how he's responsible for everything, how he personally halved his salary for the team, how this is all his fault. I wish he just. Hadn't done that. Because if your content production is so overwhelming and incapable of keeping up with itself without using AI, MAYBE CHANGE YOUR CONTENT PRODUCTION SCHEDULE???

Nobody is making Catface upload that many cocomau videos a week, and I'm sure if they heard me say this, Jess or Jason would start talking about how much money it takes to run their operation. And my response to that is to downsize your operation along with downsizing your content generation. Because as it is now they are burning the cabdle at both ends, overworking every artist contracted under them, and still failing to meet their own requirements. Methinks their requirements might not actually be humanly possible anymore and they need to change what those requirements are in order to survive.

Fourth, and finally, we have confirmation. Confirmation of the job posting (lightly), and confirmation that yes Catface uses AI in their content creation. Now Jason is trying to convince you in this post that they use it in an ethical manner, that there is no art or writing generated for their works, only ideas and production tool creation, whatever that means. And uh, hey Jason...

THERE IS NO ETHICAL WAY TO USE THE STEALING AND LYING MACHINE THAT KILLS THE PLANET!! YOU ARE KILLING THE PLANET WITH EVERY TIME YOU ASK A CHATBOT TO GENERATE SOME IDEAS FOR AN ASMP VIDEO!!

We now have confirmation that Catface studios uses AI in the process of making cocomau videos. And that sucks!! I wish they had lied to us!! I wish that Jason had gone on twitter and told a bold face outright lie to the entire fandom! I wish we could've been forever stuck in speculation with squinted eyes, instead of having this ugly truth laid bare. This sucks.

I'll probably still finish Mermaid Tales because in my social circles I've been the only one who's watching it and reporting back to people on how bad it is, but once that's over? I doubt I'll watch another new Aphmau video. Even if MyStreet Season 7 actually comes back, even if Jeffory and Blaze and Cadenza are all in it, I'll not want to watch it. Because now I can't trust the creators or anything they make. I never can. Until I see a comprehensive behind the scenes production process on MyStreet with reliable proof of no gen AI usage, I can never trust them, and that kind of documentary would cost too much money to film.

I'll still work on my fanfictions, have my fun with these characters in my own worlds, and engage with other fan content. This fandom is a special thing to me, and I've never needed them actually making anything I wanted to watch for that to be the case. But I will probably talk less about critiques of the writing and just do more silly Blaze posting when I'm in the mood for it, cause he's mine now as far as I can tell.

Lmaoo so it's actually both the siblings being dhampir. When young, both of their families were killed by vampires very similar to their canon story. They survived the attack thanks to the help of a very young chicken Shaman at the time. He "cured" them, but it really just suppressed the vampire poison and sent them on their marry way.

I think cadenza being older knows more and has a craving for blood. Y'know how she keeps getting kidnapped with people trying to scarface her? Its because shes a more powerful dhampir without even trying. Its all passive.

Both her and Laurence technically have human bodies (they need to eat, sleep, and bathe. They have blood, pain, and pleasure. Can have kids, go outside, and die). So, laurance (who doesn't have blood lust) gives some blood to his sister to help her and shit. This gives him an inside knowledge of vampires and stuff. But mostly, it's to care for his sister.

She on the other had is watching laurance very fucking closely. He also got bit. Has the scar to prove it. But no powers, no blood lust, no red eyes, nothing. But she can taste it in his blood, he's not quite human and she can't tell why.

His vampire stuff is awakened when he turns into a shadow knight.

Now its her chance to help him, he's dead and while can still give blood its nasty as fuck. She on the other hand is still a perfect dhampir and gives him blood while he's blind. She teaches him what powers he has and not to do any more.

I think all of this has a lot of potential for hurt/comfort and tbh this fic is never gonna get written. I'm sorry chat. BUT feel free to take it and make it your own. This also came from my vampire garroth au stuff in my head. Anyone can do whatever they want with this idea just lmk if you wrote something so I can also read it.

I had seen the first picture of the church, but not the second.

I went to a “Cancel Canada Day” event and burst into tears - not because I was surprised to learn of the unmarked graves (survivors told us they were there. Our government pushed it aside, and we let them), but because seeing all the people gathered in mourning drove it home: They. Were. Children.

This is my country’s legacy - and it’s not history. The last schools closed during my lifetime. My Father went to school with students who lived at the local residential school, after it was changed to a boarding house (read: holding centre) for indigenous youth who went to local schools.

They were all children, injured, abused, and killed in my country’s attempt to erase them. I want the world to see this and hold the state accountable to *active* reconciliation> I mean we could at least truly adopt UNDRIP in action instead of words for god’s sake.

i had an ideaaaaa. it’s for Nana in mcd

anyway so remember how her magic involves animation and giving a life of sorts to inanimate objects? well i saw someone a while ago mention taking it a step further and making her a necromancer. now i LOVE that idea, i can’t for the life of me remember where i originally saw it, BUT!!

i’m gonna set the scene. Nana is in Tu’la, a region which I have drawn inspiration from Japan’s Sakoku period. to sum it up, this is basically a period in Japanese history where they essentially isolated themselves from the rest of the world trade wise and didn’t really develop the same way if that makes sense? anyway Japan came out of it in like the 1860s but they were behind the rest of the world because their strict isolation prevented the exchange of ideas and stuff like the Industrial Revolution didn’t really happen, but they ended up catching up quickly and basically in 1941 they displayed their sudden military prowess and development by bombing Pearl Harbor. this is significant because Japan had been isolated for about 200 years, and caught up with 200 years worth of development in about 80. (all of that is very simplified and the numbers might be off.) but back to mcd stuff

Tu’la is inspired by this period of time. it’s very cut off from the rest of the trading world and the military in the country is very highly regarded because of how well they’ve sort of “fended off” foreigners and the region has a military junta style government. i’ve worked a little bit on backstory and loosely decided that Tu’la has painted this picture of being abandoned by the rest of the world, so during their seclusion they’ve been planning an attack that is predicted to slowly suck everyone else dry. to do this they obviously need a strong military so they’re always on the lookout for great soldiers

so where does Nana come into this? well when she was a child she would use her animation magic to bring life to small stuff like rocks and sticks to make dolls and play with them. cities and towns are still guarded and watched by military, so a few men took note of this and began asking her questions about it. Nana answered them without much thought because it’s really a useless power (at least in her child eyes), but one day she gets told that whatever council is in charge wants to see her and she becomes the youngest military member for the sole purpose of her powers. the council figures if she trains enough, then she can give life back to deceased soldiers

so she kind of grows up learning that. she practices a lot and as a side effect notices that she’s kind of aging faster? she brushes it off and doesn’t ever think she’ll be able to bring someone back to life, but being in the military has helped her family so she stays and pretends. until she does actually reanimate a dead body and accidentally created the “perfect soldier” that can’t be killed or harmed or think for itself, and she decides she doesn’t actually want her power to be used to overtake the world. so, she plans to run away

she succeeds and as a result ends up in Ru’aun, however doing this makes her a fugitive in Tu’la and is the initial reason the region decides to break away from isolation earlier than planned, because they need to make sure their weapon doesn’t end up in the wrong hands. this is where i imagine she would change her name and end up traveling all over to avoid Tu’la

now HERE’S THE KICKER. me personally, i’m tired of magic having no limits or consequences. why can they do whatever they want and only end up feeling tired? now some good shit would be consequences AND SOOO

every time Nana gives something life, her own lifespan shortens. So she isn’t even really giving life she’s just letting that thing borrow hers. this isn’t something she really finds out until she realizes that she continues to age a little faster than normal, but she also comes across a sorcerer that gives her advice about it. now, how would this work into an adaptation of her maid cafe idea?

Nana knows she’s a fugitive and criminal of Tu’la. rumors start spreading of a meif’wa wirh the ability to raise the dead at her will in all regions of the world, which creates and deepens discrimination against them. people start turning Nana away when she asks for shelter and barely even acknowledge her in public. Nana is a social person, not to mention she just broke away from isolation, so to be isolated once again in a new world where that isn’t even mandatory? she hits a wall and creates companions out of dolls at the cost of her own life, and she decides that if she goes sooner because of it then she’s okay with that

i imagine after moving to Phoenix Drop or the way with Scaleswind and O’Khasis that she stops using her powers because she’s found something to live for. i still haven’t decided if any of this is something she even tells Dante, but that depends on varying levels of tension i want

I was literally thinking about baising tu'la off of Asia and the stuff where they attack ru'uan was during the early(?) imperial China era (i have NOT done enough research) and nana/kc comes from a small island that was mostly isolated on the run bc of her powers. That there is pretty similar lol.

Anyways, great post. I was also doing something similar with the location and liked what you had to say lol.

In mine nana's repercussions is the more she gives to others the less she is a person. Ie: to make a powerful super soldier doll she must give up all her childhood memories up to age 10. And when its destroyed she'll slooooooly getting back depending on how long the doll "lived" example: 1 year of super soldier = 2-3 ish years to get it all back.

So here's we go, phoenix drop is under attack. Lord garte? Tu'la? Northern werewolves? Shad? Unnamed foe? Someone. Levin is their target because he's the lord of course. Its bad, their homes are burning dante has been brought to his knees, aphmau is gone, screams in the air.

Levin is cornered, bleeding from the head, weapon nowhere in sight. He cries for his mom, his guard, then as a blade is raised, he cries for his big brother.

Malachi not 30 feet away lay in a pool of blood, his own? Someone else's? Hard to tell with the death around. Hes alone and hurting and he remembers dying as a child and he feels so small. He wants his mama Zoey. Or his mother, or father laurance. Hell he'd take the cold hug of metal from garroth. He wishes dante was there to tell him what to do, how to survive. Tell him how not to be scared. Malachi thinks about how he'll never see his friends again. He cries as the energy drains from him. He wants his brother, to be by his side. To not be alone. He's so scared of being alone. He wonders if this is how people felt when he used his magicks.

Then he hears the screaming from levin, just across the plaza. He is only able to open his eyes enough to see as he clutches his arm and screams his name.

Malachi couldn't breathe, if he lived and his brother died he'd be truly alone again. That was probably the most terrifying thing he'd ever thought. He'd lose his kid brother, his home, his everything.

The yggdrasil tree burned in the distance.

A scream of pain and fury and fear turned the air so cold the soldiers froze in fear. Ghostly chain flew from the body of a half dead man as he stood to his feet. Hardly a person as his eyes were empty of color and his body turned translucent. He screamed, a cry, fear and rage plummeted every enemy in sight down to their knees as the chains grasped their throats, locking them up to be prisoners of their own mines.

Malachi couldn't feel the ground below him as an old uncontrollably power awoke.

Levin ran to his brother, his calls lost on dead ears. As he ran he collided with malachi, not fully gone as his body was physical enough for levin to wrap his arms around. Malachi collapsed into his arms, the surge of magic gone and his vision went black.

Half the enemies died in that plaza from heart attacks, the others were left completely impaired for weeks after.

Malachi was kept alive by levin and healed when Zoey found them.

But a new problem, that is he doesn't feel alive. His heart doesn't beat, and Laurence can smell the dead soul on the boy he cared for just like the dead smell of shadow knights.

Next up on the artfight block is Hopeful Heart! She's an umamusume oc lol (technically an uma-ified version of Aphmau from MCD). I try to stay away from gacha types but I got Very into the cinderella gray anime and the rest was history.

As an Umamusume, Hopeful Heart knows she was born to race. She starts very small with average talent, and takes a long time to get scouted. However, within the regional racing scene, she makes lots of friends, some of which even join her team. She learns a lot from them, and is able to get scouted and make it to nationals, and attends Tracen academy with her team!

Hopeful Heart is a late surger/end closer who does well in preserving stamina in long races. She thinks of all competitors as her friends instead of rivals, who are all equally encouraging her to do her best!
