Adachi had come to the Halloween party, even though nobody in particular wanted him around. He wore the outfit of a detective who was probably far better liked than he was as a costume. It was an inside joke only he got. Especially this place, the rich and talented folks had stocked their party with plenty of food. After several minutes of looking Adachi had finally found it on the salad bar. Freshly picked cabbage.
He held it softly between his hands. This piece of round leaf was more precious to him than any human. So of course it was knocked out of his hands immediately by a drunken Hanten. Who stumbled forward, and forced him to catch her in his hands.
“You’ve soiled our friendship cabbage Hanten, soiled it.”

Arima as a rule never talked to those who he was fighting. This time, he looked away slightly from that rule as he looked down at the creature in front of him. Once again the screams of an innocent woman had drawn him here. Once again, he was immediately deploying into combat. The only difference was, this time he addressed the target for his reapings with the briefest of words.
“You really don’t learn, do you.” Arima said as he appeared suddenly with his speed. It was like a branching path of fate though, that one small exchange seemed to change his entire approach for the situation. Rather than instantly go for the kill, he reappeared at her side, and kicked her away from the still alive woman. A kick that aimed properly could have shattered, but this time only seemed to lightly toss her a great distance.
He helped the woman to her feet, and sent her off with the assistant that had been following him. That was incnovenient, he was hoping to rely on the faceless second rank to watch him. Who knew what he would do when not under the eyes of others. Arima was used to acting passively after all.
His rule broken he approached Hanten, and broke it further once more. Not even drawing his sword out yet, “Why do you continue to do this when you know the end result is going to be the same?”

“Ah, what a painful life this is.”
Adachi said, as he grasped dramatically onto his shoulders as. “Tell me atlas, what is heavier? The world, or is it people’s hearts?” It was overdmataic, but his tone was completely deadpan. He obviously did not care, whether or not she was on his back. Adachi was just going to keep going on about as he always did. Fighitng to get her off his back would be more effort than simply adjusting to her weight.
“You know you’re not as heavy as I expected given your height, it’s probably beacuse of those noodle limbs of yours.” He was just going to keep talking, even as he started to wander out the door. The smile on his face was fake as ever, as he breathed in the fresh air to greet the day.
“Well, whatever, pain or not, where should we go?”

‘You smell different.” Selkie takes another whiff of the air, trying to place the smell. It reminded her of slowing dying embers and what she could only describe as.. shadowy. Shadowy moonlight? The kitsune couldn’t quite grasp it and she wrinkled her nose. “You got horns but you don’t smell like a dragon... they don’t curve like that either...you’re cute but you’re probably not a princess, I guess.”
“Oh! Are you like a riddle or something? I’m not too good at those...”
