Ah, book signings, some of her favorite times. While she enjoyed them, that didnât mean she wasnât prone to being late to them. They were often scheduled so early in the morning, the publishing company she worked with now having no Shiono to understand the odd hours of Takatsuki Sen.
Showing up twenty minutes late to the bookstore was no way to kick things off, but when she bowed with a loud apology, those waiting seemed to relax in their seats.
âAaah, Iâm so terribly sorry! I got stuck on the subway!â
How easy it would be for someone of her height to have issues with public transportation; it was only reasonable.
The proceedings went on as they always did â Takatsuki met with everyone, signed many books with her name on them, and enthusiastically chatted with each fan. The timeslot for this particular event was meant to last for around ninety minutes, though because of her antics, it lasted over two hours. The representative from the publishing company was clearly exasperated, but Eto paid him no mind. She didnât like him, and Takatsukiâs shenanigans were proof.Â
Yet, all things must come to an end, so as the event was wrapping up, Eto moved to leave as well. A sudden woman ran in, another late one apparently. Takatsuki turned and smiled, perfectly fine with greeting another fan, despite the event having ended just moments prior. However, the woman moved too quickly than a tiny author ought to be able to react in tandem to; perhaps it was the womanâs nerves, or it was the heels she was wearing, but the sudden and accidental collision left Eto no choice with colliding quite harshly with the bookstore floor.
So, that was how carpet tasted. You learned something new every day.
"Ah, hello there Takatsuki-â
Before he could finish she fell on the ground right in front of him. Falling for him already, huh? He barely had to put any effort in. That was exactly how he liked it. He laughed at his own joke. Ah, that was a mistake, now it looked like he was laughing at the Takatsuki who  had just tripped on the floor in front of him.
âPfffft, Iâm sorry, can I help you up.â Adachi leaned in front of her and held a hand open to her. A chance to touch Takatsukiâs hand, what exactly had he done to be so lucky today. Nothing more than be his normal unpleasant self.Â
Still, he needed something to cover up his laughter. A good excuse. He might have one if he was a quick thinker, but in truth, all that was on his mind at the moment was the game grumps episodes he was up all night watching rather than reading Senâs book.Â
Adachi tapped his necktie with his free hand. âIâm sorry itâs just that Zack told me the funniest joke. Ah, thatâs right, I canât just laugh in front of a lady like that Iâll make a fool of myself.â He carried on as if there were a third person in the room.
âAnnnnnnyway, Iâm glad I caught you. Iâm sorry I was late to your book signing, to tell you the truth I had to skip out in the middle of an investigation to even make it.â
