Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JD !!!!
“Hi guys, my name is Rudy and I play JJ.”
“I’m Madelyn Cline and I play Sarah Cameron.”
“Hello, I’m Chase Stokes and I play John B.”
“What’s up, I’m Jonathan Daviss and I play Pope.”
“Hi, I’m Madison Bailey and I play Kiara.”
“Hello, I’m Grace Russell and I play Elizabeth Miller and we’re here with Buzzfeed to take a quiz to find out whether we’re a Pogue or a Kook.”
The cast of Outer Banks finds out if they’re a Pogue or a Kook.
“First, how would your best friend describe you? Funny, honest, courageous, passionate, loyal, or spontaneous?” Rudy reads off the screen. “How do you guys feel about me?”
“Oh, this isn’t, wait—” Madelyn says in realization.
“Are you calling us your friends, Rudy? Are you saying we’re friends?” JD jokes making the rest of the cast laugh.
“Awe.”
“I was kinda thinking that maybe there were something—” Rudy’s voice gets lost in the mix of indistinct chattering.
“I would say spontaneous.” Chase replies to the blonde’s initial question before they all agree with the eldest.
“What do you say for Chase?”
“Honest or passionate?”
“Honest for Chase and passionate for Grace.” Madelyn says.
“I second that.” Rudy raises his hand.
“I approve of Chase’s.” Grace smiles.
“And I approve of Tiny’s.” he winks to the younger girl.
“For JD, I would say funny or passionate.”
“Yeah, Mads, I’d say funny for Jonathan.” Grace nods.
“Funny or loyal?” Madison adds, moving her hands as if she was weighting them against each other.
“I was gonna say loyal.”
“You’re also super honest.”
“Loyal?” JD confirms.
“Yeah.”
“Yes.”
“Again, I think everybody here could be all of these things.”
“Awe, look at Rudy going soft on us. It’ll take him three days to reply to a simple text, but he does love us!” Grace teases and the blonde stares at her square, shaking his head.
“If I’m being honest, you all have all these qualities too. I love you guys; you guys are great.” JD says.
“For Madelyn Cline...”
“I don’t know.”
“Pfft. I was gonna say spontaneous.” Rudy comments and the five others all chime in in agreement.
“I don’t know though.”
“You’re a spontaneous combustion person.”
“Poguies, pick a beach.” Madison scrolls to the next question.
“Bottom right for me.” Grace clicks on the image.
“Pick a beach, any beach.” Rudy mumbles.
“One of those looks like the Barbados beach.”
“I was about to say those trees, like they’re exactly in Barbados.”
“The trees are giving Barbadian vibes.”
“I did top right.”
“I did top right, too.” Chase echoes Rudy.
“Bottom middle looks like there would be a resort nearby.”
“It’s probably sugar bays right behind you.”
“Sugar bay, baby!”
“Okay, choose a sticker to add to John B’s van.” Chase reads.
“For some reason, I’m really digging the globe.” Rudy says. “I don’t know why.”
“I don’t like the globe.” JD comments.
“I’m not against No Waves, No Fun.” Chase says.
“That’s the one I picked!” Grace says, she turns her phone and shows Chase.
“Grace’s just keeping quiet doing all the quiz in her corner.” Chase chuckles.
“What? No...”
“Guys, I love the No Waves, No Fun.” Madison agrees.
“Well, the Twinkie is such a gas guzzler. It’s not eco-friendly at all.”
“There’s nothing eco-friendly about that vehicle.”
“So, Rudy, it’d be ironic to have the Earth on that car.” Madelyn laughs.
“Just because we spend lots of money on gas doesn’t mean we don’t love mother earth.”
“Yeah, but the fumes coming out—”
“That smell like we don’t like the planet.” Madison Bailey jokes as she fans her face making the rest of her friends laugh.
“Like, full disclosure, I’m surprised nobody’s passed out, yet. Because the amount of fumes that come out of that car.”
“Right.”
“I like the little turtle.”
“The name’s Crush.”
“I’m going No Waves, No Fun.”
“Pick something to order at The Wreck.” Grace reads off her phone screen. “We got fish tacos, crab cakes, a salad, burger and fries, clam chowder and a fried chicken sandwich.”
“All of the above.” Rudy shrugs.
“I can’t do anymore seafood at The Wreck after that.” Chase and everyone burst out laughing.
“No, after that first day.”
“The fried chicken sandwich looks good.”
“I’m going with the fried chicken sandwich.”
“Wait, is that a waffle as the bread?” Grace asks.
“Yeah, why do you sound so surprised?” JD questions.
“Never had it, s’all.”
“What?” the word is said by all five of them, leaving Grace confused.
“It’s not a thing in Canada.”
“Bro, we gotta get you one of these.” JD laughs.
“I gotta go fish tacos.” Madison says.
“I’m going fish tacos, too.” Madelyn points to Madison. “I can’t get over seafood.”
“Grace?” Rudy asks.
“Mmh? Oh, jesus, burger and fries, definitely.”
“Choose a bandana.” JD says. “And we got six colors to choose from here, blue, red, orange, purple, green and yellow.”
“Bailey takes red because she’s Rafael. And then, Chase takes blue ‘cause he’s a Leonardo. I think you take Donatello.” Rudy starts.
“I get purple?” JD asks. “I’m Donatello? I’ll take it.”
“And then I’m gonna take yellow because I’m Master Splinter. So, I’m taking yellow and Gray doesn’t get one because she bashed the Ninja Turtles last year.” Rudy says and Grace shakes her head, mouthing “you’re a child” to the actor.
“Wait, you’re what?” Madison leans forward.
“I’m Master Splinter.”
“You’re in the city of New York, Rudy.”
“Yeah, I’m actually going there soon so, hehe.” He cackles.
“All right, pick another Netflix series, guys. We have Stranger Thins, Never Have I Ever, Tiger King, Dead to Me, Sex Education, and Ozark.”
“Mads and I are definitely picking Sex Education.” Grace says and Madelyn raises her two thumbs in the air.
“I’m gonna go Tiger King.” Chase says.
“Yeah, me too.” Rudy nods.
“I gotta go for my home girl, she’s a friend of mine, Maitreyi. Never Have I ever, their season two is coming out too—”
“I’m gonna go Dead to Me. That’s my jam.”
“Guys, last question and finally, which character would you trust with a secret?” Madelyn reads off the screen and a few laughters erupt.
“This is a big discussion.”
“Not Wheezie.” JD and Grace say at the same time.
“Hold up. I’m actually with Cline on this one.”
“I’m gonna go Wheezie.” Madelyn says.
“I want Wheezie too.”
“Let me tell you something, why I never ever tell any of these people anything ever. I wouldn’t tell a thirteen-year-old anything, ever.” JD says.
“I’m gonna go Pope.”
“Oh, god, Maddie I wouldn’t. He can’t keep a secret to save his life, I’ll go with Sarah.”
“Pope would already know your secret before you told him. I’m like, “I already knew that you didn’t have to tell me.””
“Facts.”
“JJ’s like 50-60.” Madelyn grimaces, unsure.
“I don’t think JJ trusts himself, so.”
“Honestly, JJ talks so much it’d just slip right out.” Grace shrugs.
“The Pogues might forget what you told them.”
The Results
“You are definitely a Pogue.”
“You are a Pogue.”
“I also got a Pogue.”
“I also got a Pogue.” JD repeats after Chase with a little smile.
“Like John B, JJ, Kie, and Pope, someone who loves to live life to the fullest. You don’t take life too seriously and you march to the beat of your own drum. You’re hardworking, spontaneous, and cunning. While people often underestimate you, you’re someone who absolutely loves to prove people wrong.” Grace reads the words off her phone’s screen.
“Mine says, I kid you not, says a Kook who wants to be a Pogue.” Madison smiles, trying to hold back her bubbling laughter. “Like Sarah Cameron, you may have been born a Kook, but you fit in better with the Pogues. You’re energetic, sincere, and courageous. You’re someone who is always trying to do the right thing and help others. While you love to get dressed up and treat yourself, you also enjoy simply sitting on the beach and enjoying nature. You want to make this world a better place.”
“Thank you!”
“Thank you, guys, so much for having us.”

Madison reading an interview question: “It seemed like there was some sort of history or past between Rafe and Kiera. Will season 2 get into that? Will we learn more about Kiara’s Kook year?”
Madelyn: I think yeah because you were at my house a little while
Madison: I was there - Yeah I was about to say I think I did know Rafe from being at your house constantly.
*Chase freaking out in the background*
Madison: I have no idea. Literally never thought about this ever.
Rudy: Flashback
JD: Yeah that’s a big revelation.
*Chase mind blown*

Q: Through the season, we see that JJ’s father is an alcoholic. In the hot tub scene JJ also uses alcohol as a way to avoid feelings that he has. Do you think that might affect him in season 2?
Rudy’s Answer: “I think it sets up a great arch for Pope to set him straight. How we all act today is based on how we saw our parents interact with each other, and I think it could possibly be an issue for JJ not to use substances. Pope or Kie, [could be] his escape from the pain, which would be really beautiful.”

Ro's note: does contain spoilers for the very end of sweet, @k-k0129 proceed with caution please.
TW: Mentions of racism; lynching.
“Let’s start with you, Jonathan, Pope is related to Denmark Tanny. The Pogues were so close to walking away with The Cross, how did you feel about Pope’s journey this season?” Interviewer Katie Krause asks Jonathan.
“Yeah, it was just, huh, just you know from the beginning of the season; kind of like seeing you know the story map of where Pope’s storyline was going to go this year. I was, I was always excited, and I was always ready for the challenge. I relate a lot to what Pope went through personally, I had a family member who was taken from us through racism, you know, he was,” Jonathan swallows with difficulty, mainly staring at his reflection and avoiding his friends’ images while they listen to him attentively. “like, my great-great-grandfather was lynched and so I definitely and that was kept from me when I was a kid and I didn’t know until like, I was Pope’s age, I was sixteen when my grandmother actually told me about it. She was like, “oh well, you got to be careful because now that you’re an adult this and this...” and I was like oh shit, that’s real. And I think Pope kind of discovers that this season and you know where I didn’t have a chance to go find justice, he does and he has a thing he can look for to get it, even if it’s just money or like material ... You have something, there’s something there that feels like I’m getting back, I’m getting my justice and that was just like, fun to do this season and to explore and to get to know the range from the excitement of it to the despair of learning. Like, the more you learn, the more, the deeper you get the more you have to care.” He finishes.
“Thank you for sharing that.” Katie says. “I mean, I can’t believe that that happened but also in a way I’m, I love how they did make that part of this journey for Pope.” She smiles at the young adults through the screen before glancing down at her notes. “Will he in season three get that cross back? Will he get justice?”
“I think, I think Pope will get justice. I don’t know about the cross, I don’t know about all the specifics of it. You know, the Pogues never seem to come out with anything they go for but, they definitely come out with the feeling of winning and justice. They do, you know like, no bad guy comes out unscarred. We’ll see, we’ll see.”
“Yeah,” Katie chuckles. “and then, what about Cleo and Pope? There seemed to be some sparks flying there... Is she a Pogue—”
“Yeah, she’s a Pogue now.” JD confirms.
“All right!”
“I feel like she’s a Pogue now, we’ll see what happens, you know with moving forward with the third season but that’s definitely something. I feel like Cleo was somebody Pope wishes he were like a little more. Just, determined, she feels like, she knows what she’s doing, she’s confident in herself, in her abilities and she doesn’t care what other people think and I think those are attributes that Pope admires.”
“Rudy let’s move on to you guys. I feel like Kiara and JJ shared some really sweet moments this season, especially at the end when JJ was drowning, and Kiara’s emotions really came out. What did you make of what was going on between them, this season?” Katie asks Rudy and Madison.
“I think this season, I mean, really, Kiara and Pope are really trying to figure out their thing and I, I don’t know, the emotions at the end it could go one of two ways. Like he’s my best friend, you know I think I would feel that heartache if it was Sarah or John B, Pope, Ellie ... Anyone you know—” Madison explains as she is trying to make clear of the love situation in the show.
“Yeah, like at the end of the day, all the Pogues are initially friends and I think JJ seeing what Pope is dealing with and like, I think there would always be a certain like, kind of communication there before whatever happens and like, season three kind of sets up whatever it might happen and I think that, you know, it’s kind of crazy the timeline of things that when you really put it into like, perspective, there is not a lot of time... How long is season two? Like—”
“It goes through the end of September, I think right? Like September twenty-seventh?”
“No, JD, I mean like, the timeline of the series like, it’s eight days?”
“It’s like a month or something, it’s like a month or two.” JD says.
“Yeah, the whole show so far, like the event are happening over a little more than a month I think but what Rudy’s wanting to know is season two... I think it’s barely a week...” Grace speaks up and the interviewer nods.
“Yeah, exactly. There’s like a crazy amount of things that are happening in that short amount of time and there needs to be a ramp up of that. That’s what I’m kind of feeling. The doors are open at that point.” Rudy finishes and Grace frowns, making Madison and Katie laugh.
“I don’t think Grace agrees with you, right now, Rudy.”
“Yeah, no.” Grace shakes her head, eyes squinting in confusion.
“If I correctly remember there’s the whole Beth and JJ thing, yeah? Towards the end we almost had a confession from JJ before Beth stopped him.” Rudy’s eyes are round as he remembers.
“You forgot?” Grace asks as she tries to not laugh. “Dude.”
“I don’t know, I’m tired for a second I thought she’d died or something.”
“So, last time we see Beth, she is on the boat, right after JJ falls off it and she begs, is that the right word?” Katie asks Grace and she nods. “And Beth begs Kiara, her best friend, to go after him and to save him and then once they’re on the lifeboat, a gun goes off and—”
“We don’t know what’s going with Beth...” Grace says with a teasing smile. “For all we know JJ might’ve lost his necklace forever or maybe she just jumped after them, or maybe she’s just gone...”
“Fans aren’t gonna be happy about that, but humor me for a second. Let’s say that she’s okay and that her and JJ reunite next season...”
“Yeah?”
“Is the Kiara situation gonna be addressed?”
“Knowing Beth and depending on how their relationship has developed, yes.”
“Okay, good.” She nods, satisfied. “Hum, Carla Limbrey is still out there, and plot twist John B’s dad is still alive and they’re working together. What did you guys make of it when you read that in the script.”
“Grace cried.” Rudy states.
“I did, yeah.”
“Why?” the interviewer asks.
“It just went so fast in my head. Though we don’t really know if it’s a flashback or real life either way it’s horrible that Big John’s working with Limbrey but if it’s real like and his dad really is alive I just- felt so bad for the kid, you know? He must’ve known about everything his boy went through and he didn’t do a thing to help...”
“So how did the rest of you react?”
“I couldn’t believe it.”
“My mind was just blown.”
“I was just like, I was just like... Oh my god, the implications of this.” JD starts. “Like, first of all, who’s the good guy in this situation? Because they both know each other and I was just like, what’s going on? It just raised so many questions for especially for what it means for Pope and John B’s relationship. I think, you know, of course a bit like Grace said, for John B himself, like “holy crap my dad’s been alive this whole entire time that I’ve been on this whole crusade to avenge his death and he’s been here alive and hasn’t reached out.” Like it’s, there’s so many questions that like, season three is ready to answer that I’m just like so excited.” Jonathan says excitedly.
“That’s what I was gonna say.” Madison mumbles. “But yeah, that’s what I was feeling when I read it, I was like, I need answers. Like I know everything the fans are going to feel after watching it. There are so many things that need to be answered.
“Yeah, so many questions and I don’t trust John B’s dad anymore.” Rudy pouts. “I don’t know about you.”
“Who would? Honestly and I was so excited to see what it was like between the Pogues and Big John...” Grace says disappointed.
“It’s like all of a sudden you’re asking yourself way too many questions and you’re going back and looking at the previous season like, all right his dad’s here and this element’s there. You’re just asking yourself questions on questions on questions.”
“Yeah, exactly. I am getting wrapped so really quickly I want to each go around and tell me, um, the number one thing that you would like to see in a potential season three.” Katie asks the cast and they all get deep in thought for a second.
“We all know what Grace wants so she should just go first.” JD smiles.
“You do?”
“Yeah,” The brunette nods. “Same thing I’ve wanted since season one actually and we got to see it a little bit in season two but I just want to see the Pogues be teenagers and hang out, you know. It’s a nice break for them and it’s just fun for us to film because we get to joke around and be ourselves and stuff... I don’t know.”
“That’s good, we like that. JD?”
“Yeah, I want to see Pope continue to, you know, figure out the Denmark Tanny connection and how that relates to him and his family and also get some justice.”
“Of course, Rudy?”
“Okay, I want to see how far JJ will go to risking his friends’ safety and I’m wondering if that’s gonna be the run and gun JJ or the more reserved and like hey maybe we should take a step back.”
“Ah, okay.” Katie nods. “So maybe a change in maturity for JJ, some development... Alright. Madison?”
“Hum, I want Kiara to either make up with her parents or get emancipated.” Madison laughs. “I’m curious whether she’s going to choose, you know, is she gonna make amends or stay with her friends and start anew! I’m interested.”
“Catch Outer Banks season two, only on Netflix!”
