“Hey, what’s up guys, I’m Jonathan Daviss.”
“Hi guys, I’m Rudy Pankow.”
“I’m Madison Bailey.”
“I’m Madelyn Cline.”
“And I’m Grace Russell and we’re here to do a quiz to see how well we know each other.”
“With Pop Sugar!” JD finishes as he points to the camera.
Which cast member has a lightning bolt shaped scar on their body?
“Chase?” Madison says unsure, Grace smiles when a buzzer goes off, indicating that she was wrong.
“I’m gonna go with JD.” Mads says confidently.
“Oh god... A bolt scar? I- JD?”
“JD? Isn’t this you, right?” Rudy says and a small bell ring.
“Yeah, so, it’s me!”
“I know your body!” Rudy giggles.
“You want to- you wanna try and guess where it is?”
“On your butt?”
“Your calf?
“No and no. Grace? Mads?”
“Knee?”
“No, it actually happened when I was a baby and an iron fell onto my toe and like busted it and now there’s a permanent lightning bolt scar.”
“What? Oh, poor little you, that must’ve hurt.”
“I look like the flash with it.”
“Maybe but dude, you’re slow.” Grace chuckles.
“I did not know that.”
“I actually wanna see it next time I see you, I’m curious.”
“Careful, Gray tomorrow there’s gonna be something on Instagram saying you have a thing for feet.”
“Wow, you learn something new about JD every day.”
Who in the cast can quote the entirety of animated film The Road to El Dorado?
“Okay,” Rudy grins. “Okay, so there’s actually two of us—”
“You mean, you mean which two of us can recite—”
“There’s two of us, so two answers.”
“Okay, so I’ll just speak on behalf of Madelyn and myself but, JD and Rudy.” She says, raising her hands in the hair.
“Yeah, Judy! Which for those of you who don’t know is Rudy Pankow’s and Jonathan Daviss’ shipname.”
“We rode back to Spain like there’s no manana!”
Which cast member has studied ballet?
“Oh, sweet god.”
“It would have to be, hum, Madelyn.” Madison nods.
“The answer is Madelyn.” JD says calmly.
“Oh, also, fun fact, I don’t know if you guys knew this, but Drew also studied ballet.”
“What?” A chorus of the word echoes through the Zoom call.
“Fun fact, I also studied ballet.”
“JD?”
“Did you really?”
“Yeah, yeah, i did a couple of various class.”
“I didn’t know about that, that’s so cool!”
“It helps with balance in Football so—”
“That’s so cool!”
“I know my first, second, third, fourth and fifth positions. What do you mean?”
“Yes, sir!”
Who had a role in a theater production of Mary Poppins?
“Jonathan Daviss.” Madison says quickly but the buzzer sounds.
“Oh, god no.”
“Nope, Rudy Pankow.” Grace wiggles her eyebrow.
“Rudy?”
“Rudy Pankow?”
“Yeah, I was a chimney sweep. I wasn’t good enough for the role I auditioned for.”
“Don’t say that.” Grace scolds.
“I bet, you were the best dang chimney sweep they ever had.”
“Wait did you have to sing the song? The chim-chimney—” Madelyn starts singing when a blush takes over Rudy’s face and he hides away from the camera.
“Maybe.” He giggles.
“Chim chiminey, chim chiminey, chim chim cher-ee
A sweep is as lucky as lucky can be
Chim chiminey, chim chiminey, chim chim cher-oo.” Grace sings quietly and all stop and stare at her.
“Mmh, most likely to know the words to any random song?”
“Graaacie.” Madelyn sings.
“Okay, but that’s a definite yes, just look at his little face, he’s blushing.” Grace teases the actor.
“Can you sing us a couple bars?”
“Nah, guys. Don’t make me sing, I’m not a singer.”
“Stop it, you got a good singing voice, Rudy.”
Whose first Instagram post was a photo of them on Hermosa Beach?
“Is it you?” Madison asks Rudy and they all shake their heads.
“Grace?” Madelyn suggests and Grace declines.
“My first Instagram post was me at my one direction concert in 2015.”
“Is it Chase?”
“Yeah, it is a very Chase thing, no?”
“I don’t know.”
“Wait, who is it?”
“It is Jonathan Daviss—”
“Wait, what?” the man asks before he grabs his phone and scrolls down the application.
“Don’t play dumb. I don’t even know if this is true today.” Rudy chuckles.
“Hold on. Let me go back to my Instagram, real quick. Oh yeah, no that’s true.” He turns his phone around and shows the photo to the camera. “Oh, it was, this was from this movie Age of Summer and that’s me up there, standing up. I was sixteen.”
Which cast member picked the lock to their parents’ cabinet locker when they had their first party?
“What?” JD says, shocked at the words that just came out of Madelyn’s voice.
“I just wanna know how that person learned to pick locks.”
“It’s Grace. Definitely.”
“No!” Madelyn refuses but Grace starts to grin. “What?”
“Oh my god.”
“I swear that girl has like a whole other bad girl side to her that we don’t know anything of.”
“I’m actually impressed.” Rudy mumbles.
“I bet you are, Pankow.”
“So, guys. Thanks so much to PopSugar for having us and thanks y’all so much for watching.” Madelyn smiles
“Check out Outer Banks season two on Netflix.” Grace adds.
“Streaming now!” Madison and Rudy say at the same time.

OMFG HIIIIII!!!!!! we're doing this???? it's two am and i really wanted to get this ish started sooooo...
Welcome back to Sweeter
The group of actors was finally reunited for their first interview of the year to promote the second season of their show, Outer Banks.
-
Madelyn Cline turns around, hair whipping as the takes off a pair of sunglasses.
“Hey cast.” She says, the blonde is taken over by laughter, accompanied by JD and Madison.
Madison, Jonathan, Chase, Rudy, Grace, and Madelyn are all sitting next to each other; first three are sprawled out on a brown leather couch, Madelyn occupies a desk chair, while Rudy and Grace hang back, both sharing the piano bench.
“Hey,” Chase replies cheekily.
“We’re the cast of Outer Banks!” they all say in unison, their names appearing next to their faces.
“We’re gonna be playing a game, and it’s like charades, but with an emoji.” Madelyn explains as the other actors nod, trying to hold back their laughter. “You have thirty seconds to act it out. The person who gets the most emojis guessed, wins.” The group cheer and laugh before Chase stands up and takes place in front of them.
“This is gonna be bad.” He says to the camera.
“This is the judge panel.”
Chase’s turn.
The curly haired brunette checks the card he grabs from the bowl and chuckles. Standing up to his full height he places his arms in a ninety-degree angle and clicks his tongue to the roof of his mouth, imitating the sound of a clock.
“Clock!” they almost all say at the same time. The man nods, a breathy laugh leaves his mouth, and he picks up another card.
“Next!”
He moves one hand over the other, humming a tune under his friends’ gazes. Rudy watches intently, trying to figure out what his co-star is miming.
“Easel?” Madison suggests and Chase perks up, slapping his hands together before he points to her, eyes wide open.
“An easel? Paint?”
“Paint!”
“Paint!”
“Artist palette.” Madelyn says.
“Palette!” Grace repeats louder, Madelyn trying to gently shove her from her seat a few feet away. Chase snorts at the interaction before humming in agreement, sending them thumbs ups.
“Palette!” Rudy says out of nowhere earning amused looks from his friends.
“We just said that!” Madelyn points out and the blonde nods.
“Mmh, right. I know that.” He mumbles before turning to his right, seeing Grace stifle a mocking giggle.
Chase looks at another pick before his face scrunches up and turns into a grimace, quiet wails leave his mouth.
“Cry baby.” Maddie, Mads and Jonathan echo each other.
“The baby emoji!” Grace jumps up from her chair, surprising her cast mates.
“Woah!” Rudy laughs before pulling on the loop of her jeans and pulling her back on the bench.
“Sorry.”
“Yup, that’s right!” A woman off the screen confirms, following Chase’s small nod towards the younger actress.
Grabbing his last charade, he chuckles, throwing a glance to Grace before he points to her. He does a little dance before turning sideways, his hand is extended in front of him, and a sizzling sound comes out of his mouth.
“Fishing.” Rudy says first.
“Grilling.” Madelyn adds.
“Frying.” Madison chimes.
“Steak!” Grace blurts out.
“Cheffing!” Jonathan says and before Chase can add anything, the buzzer echoes.
“It was bacon!” Chase shouts at Grace and the young woman simply frowns. “You should’ve known that, Russell.”
“Yeah, I forgot I could read freaking minds!” she shakes her head, a smile creeps on her face.
“You said steak and I was like aahhhh!” Chase says before Rudy stands up, getting what he hopes are encouraging taps to his back by Grace. “Get in there, officer.” He says as Rudy gestures for him to take his seat, Chase immediately resting his arm on Grace’s shoulders. “Rudy looks like a beat cop.” Chase comments before the blonde grabs his first charade.
Rudy’s turn.
The blonde tries to stifle a laugh as he leans forward and hollows out his cheeks, hand in a claw before he starts to slurp from an invisible straw.
“What...?” Grace mumbles.
“Juice!”
“Juice!”
“Drinking!”
“Cocktail!” Madison says before Rudy confirms her guess and moves on.
“Keep it rolling.” He glances at the card before a surprised “oh” comes of out his mouth.
“No words!” Madelyn reminds him.
He leans back, his hands wave in the air behind his head and he gestures to his front.
“Hair.”
“Models!”
“Tanning!”
“Woman!” Grace suggests and he shakes his head.
“Bikini!” Chase claps his hands loudly when Rudy shows the bikini forms with his hands.
“Boom!” Rudy celebrates and Chase makes a fist out of his hand, overly competitive which makes the brunette next to him chuckle. The group cheering on him.
As soon as the other image is chosen, Rudy holds his hands out in front of him, noisily blowing on the air over them. He then moves on to making a slicing motion with his hands.
“Oh! Birthday! Birthday!” Grace shouts out before she stops and her face illuminates. “Oh, birthday cake!” she claps her hands twice, a smile taking over her features as Rudy’s face does the same.
“Yeah!” he cheers quickly before winking and sighing. “Okay, time’s up!”
The cast quietly teases Grace, poking at her side as she blushes and leans away from them. The blonde quickly goes back to his seat as Chase shuffles to Jonathan’s place.
“What the heck was that?” Grace asks quietly as she repeats the blowing action he did a few minutes prior.
JD’s turn.
The actor stands to his feet, stretching his neck and rolling his shoulders back. The first image appears on the computer screen, and he nods.
“Fishing.” Madelyn says when JD holds his arms as if he was shooting an arrow.
“A bow and arrow!” Most of them say at the same time.
“Archery!”
“Yes and yes!” he points to his castmates and bends down to slide to the next emoji. “I’m so good at this. All right, um...”
He presses his lips together, holding back a chuckle and he puts his arms in the air, in the same way a referee would when a touchdown is made.
“I’m sorry what?” Grace chuckles as she examines the man’s position.
“YMCA?” Madison suggests, earning a laugh from the others. “Muscles?”
“Um,” Madelyn starts. “Statue.”
“Flexing. Flexing.” Rudy repeats. “No, arms!” JD shakes his head in disagreement.
“Posing. Modeling.”
“Strength?” Jonathan reaches his finger forward, carefully before he pulls it back and shakes his hand.
“Hot?”
“Fire?”
“Hot stone. Hot stone.” Chase says confident. “Muscle man. Basketball.” JD repeats the two actions a few times, shaking his head each time one of the actors would get it wrong.
“Flexing!”
“What?”
“I feel like we’re gonna curse when he tells us.” Grace mumbles quietly and Rudy nods.
“It’s a mound.”
“Oven!”
“Skillet!” Rudy shouts and JD tilts his head, confused. “Oh wait, you said that. Oh, shark. Needle!” JD points at him, hopeful and the blonde trips on his words.
“Shark!”
“Time’s up!” The woman behind the camera lets them know and they groan in frustration.
“What was i—”
“A cactus!” Madison says casually.
“It’s a cactus.” JD says defeated while Rudy bends forward as he and Chase are taken over with laughter.
“Oh my God! I got it right before you said it!” Madison jumps up.
“She did!” Grace confirms. “Can we give her the point?” she asks and the woman nods.
“Now I get it because you did this,” Chase moves his arms in the same position JD’s were. “like a cactus.”
“I did the cactus pose. I was tryna be a cactus.”
Grace’s turn.
Her name is called, and she jumps to her feet, feeling an encouraging squeeze of her hand and she smiles before moving in front of her friends. Grace presses on the space bar, showing her first emoji and she shakes her head.
“Okay,” she clears her throat.
“No talking Grace!” Rudy snaps jokingly and she rolls her eyes.
She takes a deep breath before she starts tracing a large circle in the air.
“Hula Hoop?”
“Circle?”
“Ring!” JD says and she shakes her head.
She does the circular motion again before she gestures to the sky.
“The sun? Moon! Moon!” Madison speaks loudly and Grace points to her before moving her head, showing her that she was close.
She repeats the same motion before moving her hand in a straight line in front of her and moving her finger from left to right.
“Not line?”
“Gay?” Madelyn says and the brunette laughs loudly and shakes her head.
She does the movements again, quickly.
“Fifteen seconds.” She hears from the side and she jumps nervously.
“Not flat?” Chase thinks out loud and Madelyn gasps.
“Earth! Earth!”
“Yes! Okay next!” Grace says before quickly moving to the next one.
She traces little uneven circles from her head to the air just above it, before she put her hand on her chin and scratches her head.
“Thoughts?” Rudy offers and Grace nods victoriously.
“Next!”
She makes circles surrounding her eyes as soon as her eyes catch the image on the laptop.
“Glasses!” Chase shouts and Grace raises her hands in the hair before she high-fives him.
“Yes!”
“Time’s up!”
Madison’s turn.
“Okay, go!” The woman on the side instructs her and the curly haired actress starts moving her arms from side to side.
“Rowing!” They all shout, and her eyes open wide.
“Canoe!” Rudy speaks up and she points to him.
“Okay, next.” Madison said and they nodded. “Um, oh god.”
She smiles before she brings her fist to her mouth and lets out a crunching noise as she bites down on the air.
“Corn on a cob?” Chase suggests but Maddie shakes her head no.
“Chicken? Drumstick?” JD says and she shakes her head.
“Carrot.” Rudy says casually and Madison slaps her hands together before pointing at him again.
“Hell, you’re good.” Grace says, the blonde winks to her and she simply shoves him away.
“That was funny.”
Madison brings her fingers to her mouth, making munching noises as her teeth are out on full display.
“A rat.”
“Cheese!”
“Bunny!”
“A bunny rabbit.” Chase adds to Madelyn’s suggestion.
“A squirrely.”
“Squirrel!” Grace and Jonathan say at the same time before they lean forward to high five each other.
“Yes!”
“Wow, Maddie!”
“A squirrely.” Chase laughs.
“It works, doesn’t it?”
Madison holds her hand as something looking like pliers before she opens her mouth and brings them to it.
“A shrimp.” She separates her two hands and traces two lines in the air. “Ah, two, tails.” Chase tries.
“Chopsticks!” Madelyn sits up before wiggling her fingers.
“Period, next!”
“Dang. She’s killing it!” Jonathan comments and Madison wiggles her eyebrows smugly.
The actress makes the familiar movement of slapping one arm on top of the other noisily as she smiles to her cast mates.
“Clapper!” Four voices say at different moments and Madison jumps up and down happy.
“Time’s up!”
“Slate!”
“Slate, clapper. Same difference.” Grace shrugs.
Madelyn’s turn.
“Can I skip this?” Madelyn asked nervously.
“No, come on, you got this, babe!” Grace cheered for her friend.
“No, no, no, no!” Maddie and JD echoed the youngest’s thoughts.
“I need to see this.”
“Yeah, I got to see it.”
Madelyn takes a quick look at the computer before slightly squatting and intensely surrounding the air with her hands.
“Bible.” Rudy speaks up first and the blonde woman shakes her head.
“A box!”
“Round ball!”
“A bowling ball!” Madelyn stands up straight and gestures to something pointy over her head. “Pointy ball.”
“Witch!” Grace shouts out and Madelyn stares at her intensely.
“Hand ball, tennis racket.” The blonde actress rubs the air before repeating the series of movement.
“Fortune!” Rudy shouts and Grace grabs his hand in realization and jumps up.
“Crystal ball!” she says and Madelyn jumps.
“Yes!”
“Haha, sucker!” Grace turns to Rudy who shakes his head trying to hide the smile that wants to split his hace.
“You cheated.” He mumbles, tightening his hold on her hand and pulling her back down on their shared seat. Madelyn cheers, clapping her hands together before she took a look at the screen.
Madelyn Cline snorted, attracting her friends’ attention and she put her hands together over her head. She started wiggling her whole body before dolphin like noises came out of her mouth.
“A dolphin!” Chase and Rudy shout at the same time while Jonathan, Madison and Grace fall back, heads thrown back in laughter.
“Next one!” the woman says, barely able to hold back her laugh.
“It’s not, it’s not doing it.” Madelyn manages to let out between two laughs. “I’m running out of time.”
Madelyn weakly walks to the couch where JD and Madison and bend over laughing and she falls on top of them, feeling Grace’s free hand on her shoulder.
“You did it!”
We gave Madelyn thirty seconds to make up for the delay... and the laughing.
Moving from her chin to in front of her, Madelyn’s hands go back and forth as she tries to hold back her laughter.
“Beard.”
“Projectile vomit.”
“Vomiting.”
“Throwing up!”
“Throw up!”
Her arms fall down her body and she move her hips slowly from left to right.
“Snake!” Rudy, Chase and Grace all shout at the same time.
“No, mermaid!” Madison adds. “Worm!”
“Spitting fire! I spit the hot fire.” JD tries. “Dragon!”
“Yeah!”
“Spit the hot fire!” Rudy repeats, all of their faces turning a deep red.
“How is this?” Madison does the slithering movement Madelyn did previously.
The next emoji rolls around and Madelyn nods at how easy it is. She put her thumbs and index together before bringing it to her eye.
“Monocle!”
“Eyeglass!”
“Spyglass.” They quickly move on to one of the last few emojis and Madelyn stands unmoving with her mouth wide open.
“A gentleman.”
“Shock!”
“Yes!”
“Wait, what?” Rudy says quietly and the rest of them laugh.
“Time’s up!” The timer bings and Madelyn goes back to sit on the desk chair she left earlier.
Who won?
Chase leads the drumroll for the final results before he grabs an old phone that was laying there.
“Ladies and gentlemen. Our winner is, by unanimous decision, Maddie...” he says, and the blonde looks at him impatient. “Bailey!”
The actress lets out a quieted yell before she throws herself backwards with her arms raised.
“You created some suspense here.”
“Yeah, you’re welcome.”
“I don’t really know what to say. This is honestly so—”
“How do you feel?” Chase asks her as he brings the phone closer to her.
“I really just want to thank my castmates, you know, I owe it to you guys because I don’t know what I would’ve done if you guys didn’t know what I was saying.”
“You’re such a liar.” Chase teases.
“I just wanna say cactuses,” Jonathan starts, “do this.” He says as he repeats the movement from earlier.
“Don’t forget to tune in to season two on Netflix!” Madison finishes as the six actors sit right next to each other on the couch.

A/N: What i got from this is that Jonathan Daviss says "like" a lot. I might've written out more than half and I still feel like there's an overwhelming amount of them.
not rudy caught simping for grace in 4k
“As time has progressed and as we’ve been on this journey together, just, it continues to get more and more in-depth with the entirety of it. And it’s become less of a friendship and more of a family. And I think that’s just what makes this show so special.” Chase says to the camera.
The cast of Outer Banks
-Friendship Exercises-
Exercise one: Give each other compliments – Rudy Pankow
“My, my compliment for Rudy is that not only is he a very caring and aware person, but he’s so fun-loving, and he can find like, he can like go, I love that he can just go out to like, wherever he’s at, and just like find something like beautiful or something that like, just interests him, like, he can bring that, he brings that energy to other people. He has a way of like, spiking the energy up in a room. It’s automatic, when he’s like, “alright, I’m ready to like, get energetic.” And it’s very infectious so.” JD starts as his and Rudy’s face appear side by side on the screen.
“Rudy has an infectious personality and always brings a laugh to the room.” Chase states and Rudy nods, listening to his friend intently.
“He’s very free spirited.” Madison says before she sends a wink to her friend through the computer.
“Rudy is very fun loving, and also, really, really good at improv.” Madelyn says as a grin splits again the actors’ faces.
“He also knows the whole Ice Ice Baby rap from beginning to end.” Jonathan adds, making the whole group chuckle.
“Rudy Pankow, huh?” Grace starts with an easy smile. “A lot of great things have been said about you and they’re all true. Rudy is selfless, he’s the humblest person, he’s got great hair, a pair of good-looking eyes,” she chuckles as blushes take over Grace and Rudy’s features. “just like JJ he is so freaking loyal. He is also so, so, so, smart, and intellectually curious. He is also very opiniated, but he won’t make you feel lesser or stupid for thinking differently, y’know.”
[He might be my favorite person on earth.] - Grace Parker Russell about fellow cast member, Rudy Pankow.
Exercise one: Give each other compliments – Chase Stokes
“Chase is a born leader. He has the qualities of a born leader, he’s beautifully honest. And that is who Chase is to a team.” Rudy says to his on-screen best friend, both of them hiding the beginning of teary eyes.
“Chase sucks—” JD starts before he interrupts himself with a laugh. “No, I put that Chase is, you’re very humble and hardworking. And I think you have this ability to just kind of be like, you know what, when you know what you need to do, and you have a goal that you set out, you’re like, “I’m going to do this. And you know, I’m going to –” and you continue to like, keep your character and your poise. And I just think that’s like a very, very admirable quality that—”
“God,” Chase chuckles as he puts his hand over his heart. “this is deep, y’all.”
All six actors are shown on the screen, most of them sporting glistening eyes.
“Chase is stupid.” Chase giggles and the cast follow him, changing the mood for a few seconds.
“This is so sad.”
“Calm, mature and well-spoken are three words I put down.” Madison says quietly as she fans her face with the white board.
“Chase is an incredibly genuine human. And he has a very leveling, grounding personality for all the energy, all the energies in a room.” Madelyn says under the attentive eye of Chase.
“I’m very, very grateful to have you in my life, as my brother. I think Mads and Maddie put it so well in that you’re someone that we can rely on to have an outside point of view on so many things and that you always have the right words to comfort me, well us, but most recently me. Hum, to kind of reference Rudy when he said you were beautifully honest, I’m glad to have found someone, and not that none of these amazing humans are liars, I just, am glad to have found someone that won’t turn around the pot to find ways to tell you something. Like, he'll always have the right words to tell you how it is, but he’ll do it politely and in a way that I think is very reassuring.”
Exercise one: Give each other compliments – Madison Bailey
“Like, Madison is very loyal, and she is attentive, and she pays attention to the people she loves and her friends. And she’s constantly there to do like, Maddie Bailey is like one of the, one of those people who literally like, I’ll call like ten minutes like, “Hey, do you want to just come over and hang out?” and she’ll be there in like ten minutes. Like, we are close, and you know I’m glad, and we’ve grown closer over the second season, which I’m really glad that we did because, you know, I found, you know, we were friends first season, but after, you know, I honestly, this extends to everybody here, but after this season it really was like, “okay, we’re family. And you can come over whenever.” And you know, I appreciate how much our relationship has grown this season.” Jonathan finishes as Madison puts a hand over her chest and sniffles.
“Bailey is amazingly self-motivated and brings positive energy.” Rudy starts and Madison looks away as the emotions start to show in her eyes. “She has the ability to know exactly there’s like, “this is what I’m gonna do. Like, this is it.” And uh, she can bring that energy every single time. I love that.” Rudy ends with a nervous snap of his fingers.
“Bailey, JD kind of took mine. I said Bailey is an incredibly loyal human being. And she has an incredible ability to listen, which I think is a lost art. Bailey’s very good about listening to everything and taking the honesty of what’s happening and give you that transparency back. Which is important, not just in our personal lives, but in our personal lives. Hum, and I just think that’s a quality that is not something that you can teach. So, I appreciate good listeners because it makes the conversation really, really easy. And Bailey’s incredibly easy to talk to.” Chase smiles as Madison wipes a few tears away from her beautifully done make-up.
“Bailey is the life of the party.” Madelyn chuckles. “Huh, she’s the first one to be dancing. She’s always the first one to rally everyone. And also, to touch on what all the boys said, she’s an incredible listener, and she is an amazing friend, when you need to talk, she’s gonna be there.”
“Maddie is the kind of person that attracts light and positivity. She is someone that make you feel so special just by how much attention she brings to someone when she’s with them, you just know you have her full and undivided attention and that’s something that was said by about everyone, but it just proves how true it is.” Grace smiles as the woman in question leans back against the chair she’s sitting on.
“This is overstimulating. I love all these people so much. I’m like so overwhelmed with love for you guys, right now.”
Exercise one: Give each other compliments – Madelyn Cline
“Maddie might be the, the sweetest person that I know, like, she’s the sweetest person I’ve ever met in my life. Like, such a genuine, wow. She just genuinely cares about like, pretty much everyone, you know?” Jonathan says as Madelyn bites back a shy smile.
“You are the, spontaneity guy is like, sometimes they put that on me, but I think you are, that’s you. You are the most spontaneous person I know, who can break out into probably the best joke ever and always tops it, too. Like, you can always top somebody’s joke, somebody makes a joke and then you can even come up back and make that even that much more funny. And that’s an amazing talent as well as just a beautiful quality.” Rudy laughs with Madelyn as memories surface for the both of them.
“I think that you’re a person that never fails to make me smile. I still get butterflies being around you. And I don’t know, you just kind of make like really fun. And that for me is I think the best quality is that every day is a journey, and all of those journeys have just been some of the best I’ve ever been on. So, I can’t thank you enough for being somebody who makes every day, the most enjoyable day.” Madelyn blushes as Chase finishes his compliment, both shy smiles take over their faces as they try to swallow them back.
“We’re like otters right now. This is cute.” Madison comments as she fans herself and takes a deep breath. “Wow, okay. Hum, Maddie, I wrote down sweet. Just like, truly sweet as can be like, give you a cavity type of sweet, like truly, always—” she gets interrupted when the boys laugh, and Madison takes a few seconds to sniffle. “Like always so positive and just fun. And you really are one of those people, who’s just like stupid funny without even trying. And you bring so much light and positivity, like, on and off set. And you’re very genuine, very, very sweet.”
“How funny would it be if I just, if it just got to my turn and I said the complete opposite of what they all just said?” Grace says before laughing. “No but seriously. These guys, I could not have said it better, Mads, you are an absolute light in this otherwise often grey world, and I would not change you for anything. You are a gift in my life, and I know we barely scraped the surface of all of your talents and I’m hundred percent positive that you will bring happiness and serotonin to the world for years and years to come.” She grinned at her friend who simply beamed at them.
“I’m blushing! My cheeks hurt right now. It’s, you know what? It’s wonderful. It’s nice to, it’s nice to, huh to know that the love I have for all of these people, is also reciprocated in the same ways.”
Exercise one: Give each other compliments – Jonathan Daviss
“JD is, he encompasses so many characteristics and the most similar to Chase’s is that he’s also a leader, but he also knows how to bring family. And, huh, he’s a glue. He’s a, he’s a chess piece of a set that it’s always a family man. Like, and that’s who JD is. And that’s an insane, and amazingly heartwarming characteristic that you can only ask any person to, you know, bring to a friendship is family.” Rudy finishes, looking to one of his closest friends through a screen.
“JD is the puzzle piece that you have to have in order to finalize this, this crazy thousand-piece jigsaw puzzle. And he’s one of those people who has the most genuine intention of, I think anybody that I’ve ever met. And, you know, it spreads from him into his entire family. I mean, the entire Daviss family is some of the most wonderful people I’ve ever been around. I mean, I’ve never been in an environment that I’ve immediately felt like I’ve been accepted into a family as quickly as I have with all of them. And it starts with Jonathan. And he’s family. And Rudy said it best, you know, he is just one of the, one of the pieces that you have to have. And it’s been one of the biggest blessings in my life. I mean, I talk to JD every day at this point in my life, hum, and I love the absolute shit out of that man.” JD stays silent for a few seconds, gathering his thoughts before he smiles shyly.
“Aw, man. I love you too, bro. See, I’m not gonna be crying on here, you’re not gonna have me tearing up. You’re not gonna have me tearing up. You’re not gonna have me over here hitting the ol’, the old’—” he stops himself, once his voice starts quivering ever so slightly and he grabs the whiteboard’s board to fan himself.
“Jonathan always has a positive attitude. Hum—” Madison takes a deep, but shaky breath. “truly something that I don’t think has an ill bone in his body. Hum, he has a way of bringing, he’s the glue. He has a way of bringing literally every one of us together and really does button up this family. Truly, yeah. JD’s so positive. And you know, we are a lot closer than we were last year. And I’m so grateful for that and, I do love you so much.” Madison ends with an emotional sigh while JD does his best to keep his eyes dry.
“JD. JD, you are, you are like a brother. And Bailey, Bailey said it best. You’re incredibly positive. And you, I think like Chase are incredibly leveling and grounding energy in the room. And you do, you do bring people together. You also have incredible style. You are, you are a style icon, and you are amazing at freestyling. And, and I miss the night when we would all get together. And at the end of it, JD would end up freestyling swaddled in a blanket, somewhere in Asheville, North Carolina.” JD starts laughing as the memory erupts in his head. “And I, I, you are an incredible friend.”
“So, JD.”
“Grace.”
“I feel like I’m just repeating what everyone said but, it’s all true. You’re someone who brings people together and you unite them against all odds. I have found in your person and in your family a safe place that makes me feel included and welcomed. Never is someone gonna be alone at an event or out hanging out as long as you’re there and that’s something that’s worth mentioning because it’s getting rare in this day and age. You are a people person and just recently I was texting your mom and I learned that our mothers were Facebook friends and had exchanged numbers. It just shows how warm the Daviss’ are and how they’re capable of making friends everywhere. You truly are a gem to this group.” She ends with a smile before she blows the man a kiss.
“That’s actually so sweet, Grace.”
Exercise one: Give each other compliments – Grace Russell
“Can I actually skip my turn?” she asks to the person “monitoring” the interview. The woman shakes her head with a smile.
“Hi.” Rudy says with a shit eating grin splitting his face in two.
“Hi.” She says before fully registering the expression on his face. “Oh god, you’re gonna make me cry, aren’t you?”
“Hum, so,” Rudy starts nervously, playing with the piece of paper in his hands. “Grace Russell is one of the most charming, polite, with probably the most attractive personality I’ve had the chance of meeting. She has that aura, that vibe to her that make people instantly relax and be comfortable with her. From the moment I’ve met her in that final audition I’ve seen her pull people in with nothing but a smile. She is a great friend to have on speed dial whenever you need a laugh or someone to set you straight. Hum,” he clears his throat, feeling a lot of eyes on him. “I just love the person I am around her.”
“Rudy...” the girl says before she sniffles and reaches for a tissue on the small table next to her.
“Grace is, one of the rare people that I actually am doubting whether or not we’re blood related. In her tiny five-foot two frame is hiding a tall woman that has the power to hold the entirety of the world wrapped around her finger. It’s been wonderful to see her take maturity in life and take controls of her new career. I think you’re a force to reckon with and it might not be something you see just yet, but let’s grab breakfast in ten years and you’ll understand. I think you mentioned that it was your first time in a project this big and the way you’re handling yourself makes it seem like you’ve been doing it for forty years. I’m just proud that I get to call you my friend and sister, I can’t wait to see you take over the world.” Chase winks to the girl, both of them sharing teary eyed smiles.
“You are an incredible person to see out and about in the world. You’re not scared to go after what you want in your professional life and that’s a quality that I admire a lot. I’ve always known but I think I truly realized just recently how amazingly smart you are and how you can spin an idea into a full-blown project all by yourself. You are an impressive, talented, and independent young woman and I honestly can’t wait to see what the future holds for you.” Madison finishes and Grace shakes her head as a single tear falls down her cheek.
“Gracie is the baby of our group. We met her when she had just turned nineteen and it has been a privilege to see her become the young woman that I have the honor of calling one of my best friends. Bailey said it perfectly when she said that you were impressive to watch because knowing everything you’ve accomplished for your career, your education and in your personal life, it’s crazy to think you’re only twenty. You taught me so much about giving back and about self-love and I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done.”
“Right back at you, baby.” Grace smiles, eyes glistening with unshed tears.
“Grace Parker Russell.” JD starts and Grace smiles warningly. “You are one of a kind. You said that I and my family were like a safe space but that’s something I have found in your person as well. Never, when I come to you, never have you brought judgement or self-centered-ness in the conversation. You give your absolute all in everything you do and that is remarkable. You do not have a mean bone in your body, I love how you handle yourself and how you’ve grown in this industry. Just really proud of you.”
“Jonathan, I swear to god.” She sniffles, wiping yet another tear.
Exercise TWO – Favorite shared memory
“I think Chase used the perfect word yesterday in describing Barbados which was debauchery.” Madison says and multiple heads start nodding along.
“Barbados definitely followed me back to the states. I still find myself like, man, like I just want those Barbados days. “Like, it’s just like, it’s immediately, “man, I’m relaxed and like, I’m just happy.” Like the sun is nice. The beach is nice. It looks different.” JD says as he looks around the room imaging himself back in that lounge chair.
“Barbados was euphoric.” Rudy says and a small smile pulls at Grace’s lips at the memories they all had made there. “If that was going to be the sentence, like it was completely a dream state kind of thing.”
“Yeah. We definitely, I would say embraced Barbados to the fullest. Like wanted to learn as much as we could. They embraced us.” Madison adds.
“Nothing but good things to say about Barbados.”
Exercise THREE – Who is the most punctual?
“None of us.” Chase says while Madison points to herself.
“Bailey or JD.” Mads says and most nod.
“Bailey, Bailey, it’s Bailey. No, it’s not JD.” JD laughs. “I’ll tell you right now, I’m fashionably on time. I’d say Bailey or Grace, depending on which is getting Starbucks that day.”
“Okay, JD, out us to the world, gosh!” Grace rolls her eyes jokingly.
Exercise FOUR – Who is the slowest texter?
“JD.”
“Maddie.”
“Rudy.” Both Madelyn and Grace say at the same time.
“It might be Rudy, it might be Rudy.” Jonathan agrees.
“It’s definitely him.”
Exercise FIVE – Reflection
“I think we need to do this more. Like, you know, it really is just like, we are friends and we this close and you know, nothing, I’ve said on here has been a lie or fabricated, or I’ve had to push to say or like, it’s like, I wish I could say more honestly. I wish, you know, I’m just glad to know that we were all kind of in the same place as with each other, it’s nice to hear, ‘cause when you say it, you imagine the moments, and you imagine the stories, and you imagine the times that we spent together and all that just really came rushing back. And it was just a nostalgia trip, from that first season to now like all of these moments of just growing with you as people, so yeah, just.”
“This friendship test, felt like therapy. Thank you so much, Glamour for having us. I think we all realized we need to do this more often, and it was really a great time. And I love you guys!”

Ro's note: Im actually gonna try and post one every day this week so we can get to the behind the scenes stuff quicker hehe
Also, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JD !!!!
“Hi guys, my name is Rudy and I play JJ.”
“I’m Madelyn Cline and I play Sarah Cameron.”
“Hello, I’m Chase Stokes and I play John B.”
“What’s up, I’m Jonathan Daviss and I play Pope.”
“Hi, I’m Madison Bailey and I play Kiara.”
“Hello, I’m Grace Russell and I play Elizabeth Miller and we’re here with Buzzfeed to take a quiz to find out whether we’re a Pogue or a Kook.”
The cast of Outer Banks finds out if they’re a Pogue or a Kook.
“First, how would your best friend describe you? Funny, honest, courageous, passionate, loyal, or spontaneous?” Rudy reads off the screen. “How do you guys feel about me?”
“Oh, this isn’t, wait—” Madelyn says in realization.
“Are you calling us your friends, Rudy? Are you saying we’re friends?” JD jokes making the rest of the cast laugh.
“Awe.”
“I was kinda thinking that maybe there were something—” Rudy’s voice gets lost in the mix of indistinct chattering.
“I would say spontaneous.” Chase replies to the blonde’s initial question before they all agree with the eldest.
“What do you say for Chase?”
“Honest or passionate?”
“Honest for Chase and passionate for Grace.” Madelyn says.
“I second that.” Rudy raises his hand.
“I approve of Chase’s.” Grace smiles.
“And I approve of Tiny’s.” he winks to the younger girl.
“For JD, I would say funny or passionate.”
“Yeah, Mads, I’d say funny for Jonathan.” Grace nods.
“Funny or loyal?” Madison adds, moving her hands as if she was weighting them against each other.
“I was gonna say loyal.”
“You’re also super honest.”
“Loyal?” JD confirms.
“Yeah.”
“Yes.”
“Again, I think everybody here could be all of these things.”
“Awe, look at Rudy going soft on us. It’ll take him three days to reply to a simple text, but he does love us!” Grace teases and the blonde stares at her square, shaking his head.
“If I’m being honest, you all have all these qualities too. I love you guys; you guys are great.” JD says.
“For Madelyn Cline...”
“I don’t know.”
“Pfft. I was gonna say spontaneous.” Rudy comments and the five others all chime in in agreement.
“I don’t know though.”
“You’re a spontaneous combustion person.”
“Poguies, pick a beach.” Madison scrolls to the next question.
“Bottom right for me.” Grace clicks on the image.
“Pick a beach, any beach.” Rudy mumbles.
“One of those looks like the Barbados beach.”
“I was about to say those trees, like they’re exactly in Barbados.”
“The trees are giving Barbadian vibes.”
“I did top right.”
“I did top right, too.” Chase echoes Rudy.
“Bottom middle looks like there would be a resort nearby.”
“It’s probably sugar bays right behind you.”
“Sugar bay, baby!”
“Okay, choose a sticker to add to John B’s van.” Chase reads.
“For some reason, I’m really digging the globe.” Rudy says. “I don’t know why.”
“I don’t like the globe.” JD comments.
“I’m not against No Waves, No Fun.” Chase says.
“That’s the one I picked!” Grace says, she turns her phone and shows Chase.
“Grace’s just keeping quiet doing all the quiz in her corner.” Chase chuckles.
“What? No...”
“Guys, I love the No Waves, No Fun.” Madison agrees.
“Well, the Twinkie is such a gas guzzler. It’s not eco-friendly at all.”
“There’s nothing eco-friendly about that vehicle.”
“So, Rudy, it’d be ironic to have the Earth on that car.” Madelyn laughs.
“Just because we spend lots of money on gas doesn’t mean we don’t love mother earth.”
“Yeah, but the fumes coming out—”
“That smell like we don’t like the planet.” Madison Bailey jokes as she fans her face making the rest of her friends laugh.
“Like, full disclosure, I’m surprised nobody’s passed out, yet. Because the amount of fumes that come out of that car.”
“Right.”
“I like the little turtle.”
“The name’s Crush.”
“I’m going No Waves, No Fun.”
“Pick something to order at The Wreck.” Grace reads off her phone screen. “We got fish tacos, crab cakes, a salad, burger and fries, clam chowder and a fried chicken sandwich.”
“All of the above.” Rudy shrugs.
“I can’t do anymore seafood at The Wreck after that.” Chase and everyone burst out laughing.
“No, after that first day.”
“The fried chicken sandwich looks good.”
“I’m going with the fried chicken sandwich.”
“Wait, is that a waffle as the bread?” Grace asks.
“Yeah, why do you sound so surprised?” JD questions.
“Never had it, s’all.”
“What?” the word is said by all five of them, leaving Grace confused.
“It’s not a thing in Canada.”
“Bro, we gotta get you one of these.” JD laughs.
“I gotta go fish tacos.” Madison says.
“I’m going fish tacos, too.” Madelyn points to Madison. “I can’t get over seafood.”
“Grace?” Rudy asks.
“Mmh? Oh, jesus, burger and fries, definitely.”
“Choose a bandana.” JD says. “And we got six colors to choose from here, blue, red, orange, purple, green and yellow.”
“Bailey takes red because she’s Rafael. And then, Chase takes blue ‘cause he’s a Leonardo. I think you take Donatello.” Rudy starts.
“I get purple?” JD asks. “I’m Donatello? I’ll take it.”
“And then I’m gonna take yellow because I’m Master Splinter. So, I’m taking yellow and Gray doesn’t get one because she bashed the Ninja Turtles last year.” Rudy says and Grace shakes her head, mouthing “you’re a child” to the actor.
“Wait, you’re what?” Madison leans forward.
“I’m Master Splinter.”
“You’re in the city of New York, Rudy.”
“Yeah, I’m actually going there soon so, hehe.” He cackles.
“All right, pick another Netflix series, guys. We have Stranger Thins, Never Have I Ever, Tiger King, Dead to Me, Sex Education, and Ozark.”
“Mads and I are definitely picking Sex Education.” Grace says and Madelyn raises her two thumbs in the air.
“I’m gonna go Tiger King.” Chase says.
“Yeah, me too.” Rudy nods.
“I gotta go for my home girl, she’s a friend of mine, Maitreyi. Never Have I ever, their season two is coming out too—”
“I’m gonna go Dead to Me. That’s my jam.”
“Guys, last question and finally, which character would you trust with a secret?” Madelyn reads off the screen and a few laughters erupt.
“This is a big discussion.”
“Not Wheezie.” JD and Grace say at the same time.
“Hold up. I’m actually with Cline on this one.”
“I’m gonna go Wheezie.” Madelyn says.
“I want Wheezie too.”
“Let me tell you something, why I never ever tell any of these people anything ever. I wouldn’t tell a thirteen-year-old anything, ever.” JD says.
“I’m gonna go Pope.”
“Oh, god, Maddie I wouldn’t. He can’t keep a secret to save his life, I’ll go with Sarah.”
“Pope would already know your secret before you told him. I’m like, “I already knew that you didn’t have to tell me.””
“Facts.”
“JJ’s like 50-60.” Madelyn grimaces, unsure.
“I don’t think JJ trusts himself, so.”
“Honestly, JJ talks so much it’d just slip right out.” Grace shrugs.
“The Pogues might forget what you told them.”
The Results
“You are definitely a Pogue.”
“You are a Pogue.”
“I also got a Pogue.”
“I also got a Pogue.” JD repeats after Chase with a little smile.
“Like John B, JJ, Kie, and Pope, someone who loves to live life to the fullest. You don’t take life too seriously and you march to the beat of your own drum. You’re hardworking, spontaneous, and cunning. While people often underestimate you, you’re someone who absolutely loves to prove people wrong.” Grace reads the words off her phone’s screen.
“Mine says, I kid you not, says a Kook who wants to be a Pogue.” Madison smiles, trying to hold back her bubbling laughter. “Like Sarah Cameron, you may have been born a Kook, but you fit in better with the Pogues. You’re energetic, sincere, and courageous. You’re someone who is always trying to do the right thing and help others. While you love to get dressed up and treat yourself, you also enjoy simply sitting on the beach and enjoying nature. You want to make this world a better place.”
“Thank you!”
“Thank you, guys, so much for having us.”

“What’s up guys? I’m Jonathan Daviss.”
“Hi, hi! I am Grace Russell.”
“Yo, what’s going on? My name is Rudy Pankow.”
“Hi, I’m Madison Bailey and we’re going to be doing Besties on Besties.”
“Besties on besties on besties on besties.” Jonathan laughs, proud of his joke.
Describe your friendship in 3 words.
“Goofy is, like, the best word to describe it, because like—” JD starts as the others nod.
“Goofy, yeah, like, we’re just...”
“It’s about seventy to eighty percent of the time, we’re just being goofy.”
“Random.” Rudy says randomly.
“I agree.”
“Totally!”
“Fun. It’s fun.” Madison smiles, her voice soft.
“It’s fun being friends with you guys.”
“I sure hope so or the rest of this day’s gonna be awkward.”
What is your group chat like?
“It’s random craziness. It’s really exciting to like, wake up every day knowing somebody could put something in this group chat that could, like, literally change my whole day.”
“Aw, JD...” Grace smiles.
“Like, we can wake up and have something either I really did not need to see that or, like, wow, I’m so happy I saw that. Example, Chase’s mustache. I think that falls under both columns.”
“His little Joe Dirt.” Madison mumbles as she scratches the area under her lips.
“His little soul patch.”
“That just really took me out for a second. I like it, it’s different and it suits him, just unexpected.” Grace adds.
What’s something you’ve each taught each other?
“I’m a lot better at Mario Kart now.” Madison says and the other three nod.
“I would whoop all your asses at Mario Kart, all right?” Rudy smiles brightly at the webcam. “That’s facts.”
“Rudy, I’ve gotten a lot better now.”
“JD, JD, JD,” Rudy calls his friend. “You’ve gotten good at Smash Bros, all right? I’ll give you that.”
“JD, I’m better at 2K, too. I’m way better at 2K.”
“Okay.”
“Yeah, Rudy you can get your ass whooped in 2K.”
“Oh, yeah, I get my ass whooped in 2K.”
“Bailey, Bailey taught me how to make better TikTok.” Jonathan comments and a wave of agreement is heard throughout the interview call.
“JD’s taught me some dance moves. And also, Bailey too, some dance moves.” Rudy says, making JD agree with him. “There’s also this thing.” He says before twisting his upper arm and snapping his fingers.
“Whatever that is, I never understood it.” Grace mumbles shaking her head. “It looks good when Maddie does it but like...”
“Oh, oh! Rudy taught Grace how to drive!”
“Wait! Wait! He didn’t teach me per se! I knew, I had my learner’s permit back home but like, people in LA are freaking savages and I just—”
“She was just a little disoriented, is all.”
“Thank you, love! Absolutely, highly disoriented.” She says as her eyes opened widely. “The road’s rules aren’t the same in Montreal, Canada and in LA.”
What nicknames do you have for each other?
“Rudy is Toot.” JD starts.
“I’m Bails.”
“I call you Bails a lot.”
“Sometimes I call you Yonathan.” Madison says in a small voice.
“I mean I don’t use it as much, but I have called you Cree before.” Rudy says and Grace, along with Madison look to the side, holding back their laughter.
“That’s my family nickname.” Jonathan says with an uneasy smile.
“You’re just gonna expose him.”
“Yeah, that’s my family. That’s close personal. They’re not supposed to know that.”
“Oh shit.” Rudy swears under his breath. “My bad, my bad.”
“You fucked up.” Grace mouths to the blonde through the screen.
“Grace is either Gracie or Chase will call her Tiny.” Jonathan says.
“Gray too.” Rudy says and Grace nods, tongue passing over her lips.
“Toot and Tiny are kind of interesting nicknames I gotta tell you.” Madison says.
What’s something you’ve never done together but want to?
“I wanna take a trip to Disney World with all of you guys. Really, any group vacation, I really wanna just do, like, with all of us, all our peoples.”
“But we have been on a group vacation.”
“I don’t count Barbados.”
“I count that.”
“Yeah, me too.” Grace agrees with Madison as a smile is plastered on her face.
“You know what I mean, I wanna do it to it.”
“Six flags or Disney would be dope. I know Grace wanted to go Universal Studios last year but with Covid we couldn’t.”
“Mads and Grace would go crazy at Disney.” Madison says with a laugh.
Were there pranks on set?
“Here’s our exactly our pranks worked. Jonas would be like, “Okay, we’re gonna do this.” And you’re like, “No, there’s no way. That’s a joke, right Jonas?” And then he’s like, “No.”” JD explains while Grace and Madison burst out laughing. “And then you’re like, “Oh, I am being pranked. This sucks.””
“Jonas did legitimately try to prank me this year.” Madison starts. “There was a scene that I had that was truly difficult to film and then we had to reshoot it, so I shot it for the second time. And then he called me that night and he was like, I might have to come back in to reshoot it. And I was like, “Jonas, tonight?” He was like, “yeah, like, we’re gonna just have to light it.” And I was like, “But it’s supposed to be daytime.” Like it was a whole thing, and he was like, “I’m just kidding you did great today, Bails.” And I lost my mind.”
Who is most likely to find a buried treasure?
“Rudy Pankow, definitely.”
“Rudy.”
“I think Rudy.”
“You’re the only one that would be looking for it.” Madison says which made Rudy laugh loudly.
“I’m a hound.”
“Rudy would bring like someone into some like weird wilderness or some woods and he’d just stumble upon it, and he’d just make the other person look with him.”
“I can see him come back home or something with a chest or whatever and just go, “yeah I was walking through the mountains, and I found a buried treasure.”” Grace says with a smile.
What would you all do with a treasure chest?
“I’d give the treasure away, keep a little something for my friends and family and use the actual chest as like a blanket container or whatever at the foot of our bed.”
“I would put back into the community first, probably.”
“I’d be nervous. I’d be like, “Who’s watching?”” Rudy looks from side to side, acting out how he would act.
“I’d probably see it and be like, “Hahaha. Look at this treasure, fake gold.” Madison says, making the others laugh.
Who is the person to come up with a plan when you really need one?
“JD, I feel like if we were in a dire situation, JD would be calm, but then if we were in a situation where we need to, like, socially talk, I would choose Bailey, ‘cause I think socially, she’d be like, “This is the right thing to do.””
“Yeah, she’ll get out there.” JD nods, as well as Grace and Madison. All three of them agreeing with the blonde’s words.
“And Grace, well, she’s usually just happy to be included so she’ll just go along and make sure we’re happy.” Rudy shrugs and Grace sends him thumbs up.
“Very true, I accept.”
Kooks or Pogues?
“We’re Pogues, we’re Pogues. We’re Pogues.” Rudy says intensely as his face takes over the screen.
“But we have nothing, I mean like, Jonathan has nothing against Kooks.” JD puts his hand over his chest.
“I relate with Pogues.” Rudy adds.
“Pogues.” Madison and Grace say at the same time.
“But there’s no animosity with Kooks.”
“Wait, Rudy are you saying that as yourself or as JJ? Because...”
“Yeah, no, as Rudy. JJ definitely has aggressive feelings against them but as Rudy, ain’t got nothing. You need to have a reason to hate a Kook, that’s all.”
“I do.”
Who would you choose to play one another in a biopic?
“I wanna see Jack Black take his shot at Rudy Pankow.” Jonathan starts.
“Oh my god.” Grace gasps.
“Wait, wait, wait. You know who I want to play Rudy?” Madison questions. “Michael Cera.” She says uncertain.
“Oh, Michael Cera.” JD repeats.
“Michael Cera playing Rudy Pankow?” Rudy snickers.
“I wanna see Maya Rudolph play Bailey.”
“She’d be excellent. A queen playing a queen.”
“What?” Madison laughs. “I’m selfish, I want Zendaya to play me, but I wanna play Zendaya.”
“Y’all just play each other.”
“Gray?” Rudy calls out when he notices the actress looking at something out of frame.
“Mmh?”
“Actress to play you in a biopic?”
“Oh god. I’ve been told I look like a younger version of huh, God what’s her name? The witch from TVD...?”
“Danielle Campbell?” Madison suggests.
“Yes! Her. Like, on socials people have been comparing us and I think she’s a great actress so, Danielle Campbell.” She says snickering.
“And I think nobody but Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson should play me.” Grace and Madison giggle while JD smiles cheekily.
“Thank you so much for watching. Please subscribe to Seventeen’s YouTube channel and we’ll see you guys on season two!” Rudy says before winking to the camera.
Outer Banks’ On Screen Lovers, Grace Russell and Rudy Pankow on Beth and JJ’s relationship. “We both prefer slow burns and we will deliver!”

“Oh, wow... Let me think for a second here, I think just like the other characters she needs to figure herself out first, she needs to come to term—” she clears her throat. “That’s not the right word actually, she needs to heal from her own pain, she needs to learn how to stand on her own because her friends are very much crutches for her, I think she needs a lot of maturing and to figure out her feelings for JJ because they are so young and they’ve been through so much together in a short time so is it like they bonded over a shared trauma type of thing or is it the real deal? Because at the end of season two we get to see little glimpses of maybe something you know but, you know.” She shrugs. “There was a comment under a video from the press tour last year that said something like, even though JJ might not be ready for a relationship, he could benefit from someone truly caring and loving and supporting him and I do think as Grace that that person could one day be Elizabeth Miller. So, there’s gonna be a day, an time where they’ll come together, I am sure of it.”
“I’d like to say that the only thing that JJ’s focusing on in season two is him thinking, in the short time it happens, is thinking how far are we gonna take this? Because if my friends are alive, let’s just say that, if my friends are alive, how am I gonna get them back safely, keep them safe and then we gotta really start talking about our objective here like... What is the end goal like, is it full kook? I think he really needs to have this like... I don’t know,” he chuckles and stops his gesturing for a few seconds. “I think that’s really what he’s digesting, and that he and Beth really need to have this talk, you know, especially with how season two ends. We think and by we, I mean Grace and I, we think that what Beth wants is JJ, always has been she wants the life of a normal seventeen-year-old and JJ just wants to keep his friends- his only family intact and he’s just trying really hard to do it even if it means making a few mistakes along the way. And we can’t forget the restitution that... you know.”
“I was gonna say, a lot of the stuff that he taps into is he kind of doesn’t... I mean I would say specifically that he’s trying to get John B out of jail, and I think it’s my favorite example of this, that he really just goes with it, and he only sees this one thing like, I want my friends to be here and be safe and I’ll do anything to do that.”
“Right, exactly.” The actor straightens up. “And I think there will be a time and place to have that talk but I think that’s just not... yet. Because there’s just so much other things that he’s not done like dealing with.”
“Mmh-hmm, and obviously season two ends on quite a cliffhanger, that the Pogues are just kind of in the middle of nowhere on their own which I amazing. Also that John B’s dad may be alive or something going—” he leans back with a shocked expression on his face which makes the interviewer laugh. “I know right? Have you guys—”
“No, but it’s just crazy that you can just say it, like we kept it a secret, whatever that secret turns out to be, but we kept it a secret for so long. I’m just like, oh my gosh!” He interrupts with a laugh.
“I know! Have you guys had conversations about what the future of that looks like should the show get a third season?”
“Oh yuh,” he scoffs, holding back a laugh. “I think a third season would be dope. Um, I would love to, I mean, like all I can say is that I hope you guys like season two ... That’s the main thing. If you guys like season two, then I bet your bottom dollar that season three will happen.”

“All the fans are rooting for JJ and Beth to finally and officially get together. Can you tease a little bit about where their relationship is going in season two? Or is there a relationship going anywhere in season two?” Grace smiles shyly at the interviewer as she hides in her shoulder.
“Oh... Well.” She chuckles. “You know, um, things are a bit rocky between the two when season two starts. Beth’s kind of pulled away from them, dealing with her own grief and JJ, Kie and Pope are just trying to find out what went on with their friend, trying to innocent him while dealing with their own pain. I will say a spoiler and let slip out that my girl does go on a date this season.”
“Does she?”
“Yeah, on a normal teenager evening she just- I think she went into this whole hunt for her friends but honestly, girl just wants a normal life, she got AP classes to catch up on and like, I don’t know.”
“Okay, but if you take a step back as a fan what do you want for Elizabeth?”
So, there’s gonna be a day, a time where they’ll come together, I am sure of it. Everyone know that slow burns are better and we will deliver.”
