dickarren married couple spicing up their sex life decide to try rping the first time they met except instead of dick passing out mid argument and robbing arren the next morning, they take the argument to an inn room upstairs and fuck it out

oh i just had such a self indulgent sillysad idea about dick and arren and sex

dick spent a lot of his life absorbing insults like a sponge, especially in situations when he was particularly vulnerable. once, one of his partners (not a great guy, but mostly just a chronic foot-in-mouther) laughed at his O-face and told him he looked goofy instead of sexy, unknowingly confirming something dick had already suspected about himself, after which dick was like ok! i’m never having sex ever again! and then a little while later he was like alright i was being dramatic. it’s doggy style in the dark only from now on.

a few years down the line, on the surface he’s like haha that was so stupid, what an insane thing to say to someone you’re fucking. it’s all in the past now. but secretly he has never let go of that comment which happened to fit so neatly into the larger picture of his self-loathing and fear of showing anyone his feelings, and has long since made hiding his face during sex a habit. none of that is particularly well resolved by the time he and arren finally get together, and the anxiety actually gets worse bc dick likes arren so much.

so the first time they have sex face-to-face and dick is about to cum, he grabs arren hard and buries his face in his shoulder, and only lets him go once his brain and vision have cleared up enough for him to fix his face. arren thinks it’s just an adorable involuntary thing, so dick gets away with it the next few times as well, until arren specifically mentions one day how much he’d like to see dick’s face as he cums. and dick, who loves him and is making a very honest attempt to stop constantly deflecting whenever they get close to sensitive topics (of which there are mortifyingly many), finally admits that he doesn’t want arren to see bc he’s afraid he’ll think it’s goofy and get turned off.

cut to the next time they’re having sex, when arren spends hours just getting dick so out of his own head that by his nth orgasm of the night he can’t possibly remember to cover his face, and stupid lovesick arren sees his red, sweaty, tear-stained face, screwed-shut eyes, and scrunched-up nose and goes “oh fuck” and instantly cums. happy ending

dick trying his very best to embrace the idea that Home that can only ever be where he currently is and a life solely dedicated to the wild, but his mind and heart still keep drifting back to mel, still in the place he ran from

but in the context of mel’s playlist, i think harpy hare is like……mel mocking their mother abt how in driving dick to flee, she unknowingly lost mel’s love—but it’s that exact bitterness/cruel edge that makes her most like their mother

mel’s harpy hare is a bitter, ironic lament of how the three of them have ended up so distanced from one another. while to dick, the harpy hare motif and the way it strengthens over the course of neath the grove represents his growing resolve to return and face his past—his love for mel, his fear of his mother, and the myriad possibilities of who mel might now be after years of being raised by their mother without him, none of which he can ever know if he doesn’t turn back. harpy hare sees mel stuck in place and dick at a turning point

sorry i feel sooo narratively rewarded by my own playlists. literal years before yaelokre released hayfields (w/ harpy hare and neath the grove) this was one of the VERY FIRST songs i put on dick’s. he’s my hare he’s my jackrabbit baby

i do feel kinda bad doing this with meadowlark songs just bc theyre so fundamentally connected to yaelokre’s own world/lore/ocs but hopefully they will simply never see me slapping my own guys on top

dungeon meshi au with dick’s party (leader arren + suying + dick + maybe egg) except mel would absolutely be a dungeon lord and it’s a whole fucking thing when they find out

arren: the lord of the dungeon……am i crazy or did she look just like……… (everyone turns to look at dick, who is in utter shock)

and the next chapter or two are flashbacks to dick’s past. like that

i think it would be so funny if in yet another oc crossover event mars happens to see dick with his hair down surrounded by woodland creatures and is like that’s the most beautiful woman i’ve ever seen

mars: please forgive my forwardness, i just haven’t been able to keep my eyes off of you all night. could i buy you a drink?

dick: oh gods i’m flattered but i have a husband

mars: you deserve two husbands (internally) i’ll fuck her husband too if that’s what it takes.

when he eventually finds out he’s devastated bc he likes arren and is therefore unwilling to make a cuckold of him, but he can also tell he’s debilitatingly monogamous so the have sex with both of them plan is not going to fly
