while struggling through their junior year of college, jensen in accounting and iris in communications, jensen and iris’ girlfriends cheat on them with each other. WHAT THE FUCK!!!

to make it even worse, jensen’s girlfriend was iris’ roommate. so, to make a long and dramatic story very short, jensen and iris break all ties with them & move in together for their senior years.

they lose their college girlfriends, BUT find something arguably far more valuable at the time: a genuinely compatible dream roommate! YAYYYY

the rest of the story, over a couple of years, is a tale as old as time. roommates to friends to gaming buddies stuck inside an immersive reality rpg game to lovers. wait what was that in the middle

Anywayyyy, more info to follow about ivensis and the safgaverse, but for now under the cut is a reference post introduction to Jensen specifically!!! A LONG introduction. You have been warned !!

Quiet, competent, and thoughtful, Jensen has a warm and easygoing attitude that means he’s well-liked even though he tends to be more subdued with strangers. He’s reserved, but unpretentious and kind, which makes him naturally rather charming without much extra effort on his part! People sometimes mistake his quietness for being shy, but he’s just more of a natural observer in larger groups or amongst strangers and acquaintances.

He works as a finance analyst for a fitness technology company. His job is mind-numbing but he’s extremely good at it, and though he doesn’t make an absurd amount of money now, in just a few years he’s moved up a lot. He values his job security more than having a job that he’s especially passionate about, and he does enjoy being good at it!!

Jensen grew up in a big blended family. He has his parents and his little sister, his older half siblings, and his other little sister (his dad’s ex wife’s kid who technically isn’t related but also is). He’s right in the middle of them all, so his older siblings fuck with him and he dotes on his little sisters. He lives a bit further away these days from his family, but still close enough to drive down for a long weekend every 2-3 months. His family can be overwhelming and like all families it has its issues, but they all get along well and he loves them dearly.

Jensen and Iris have a very straightforward relationship both pre and post dating. They’re both communicative and direct, are easygoing about compromising, and the traits where they greatly differ tend to be things they admire in the other person. Iris is quite silly, a bit hyperactive, a yapper with a wild imagination. She brings out his more relaxed, chatty, teasing side that’s normally reserved for his siblings. On the other hand, he makes her feel safe and calm in a way few do, and is one of the only people she can sit in silence with comfortably.

They have a lot of shared hobbies as well. Both of them are into fitness for fun over function. They both love swimming and hiking. Unlike Iris, Jensen is really into kickboxing. Iris is more into cycling. They’re lucky to have similar thresholds for how much exercise is fun and how much is annoying - they’ll go out for a few hours in the morning or half a day, but neither wants to drag the other on a weekend-long bikepacking excursion, etc.

Jensen loves movies, Iris is more of a reader, and they trade off recommendations and keep each other cultured. Or uncultured… Jensen loves old, bad movies, westerns and martial arts movies and camp horror and Iris reads a lot of meandering webnovels and decades-old SFF pulp. But they try to keep up with classics and newer things too.

Primarily though their biggest shared hobby is gaming. It is… probably relevant that this entire setting is slightly in the future in an alternate timeline. “Immersive reality” games are new but increasingly popular and accessible, much like virtual reality headsets are now. Immersive reality games put you inside the game, like Sword Art Online or Ready Player One or Bofuri or the Ripple System or any other media you know lol. Both Jensen and Iris play immersive reality games as well as more old school games and they play together a ton.

Eventually a huge open-world fantasy comes out, an MMORPG called Ivensis: Reawakening. It’s a long story that I will explain eventually… but on launch day Jensen and Iris are among the many players that are inadvertently stuck in the game for a long period of time. Their friendship is very established by then, but their romantic relationship starts inside a video game. Lol

I do also have a modern day au where none of that part happens at all and they are just poor asf roommates doing their best. But the Safgaverse is their normal setting and I like it a bit better because there are things like universal basic income and clean energy and a lot more things that are a pipe dream in a modern day setting.

thinking SO MUCH about jensen today which is simultaneously devastating and enjoyable. like i love thinking about him but he is one of my only ocs/ships that i genuinely feel disappointed when i think about the fact that he isn’t real

i also had a dream last night that not only had jensen in it but it was like a weird universe fusion and i had gotten isekai’d into ivensis and that was like a normal world and not the virtual world so he was like a really different vibe but still jensen. like instead of being a nerd jock with a finance job who plays video games as a werebear monk. he was just ACTUALLY a werebear monk JDDHDBSJ

it was so interesting he kind of reminded me of h.alsin and not just because of the bear thing, self-assured and knowledgeable and attuned to nature. And ofc he was still so goofy because being so very silly is jensencore forever

today is a savepoint day because i dreamt about iris weirdly not jen but it still put me in the mood. my vibe with iris is so weird bc she is def me but she’s also so not

anyway. idk why but i’m thinking about jensen’s fav things just in general. like his favorite color is dark green but he also likes a sunshine yellow. his fav animal is a tie between alligators and grizzly bears. Iris shows him big challenges when they’re in college and he immediately becomes jens fav sanrio character. Etc
