WAYWARDEN & THE SOULBOUND - COMING 2023

    Dia Montes is content to slouch towards spinsterhood as caretaker of Compass House and its ornery cat. Never mind that Compass House contains mysterious Doors that open into unknown realms, many of which are populated by Stryx- deadly creatures straight out of lore and superstition.     When the current Waywarden of Compass House and her assistant go MIA— Dia must step up when an ancient threat comes through one of the Doors. To complicate matters, the past rears its ugly head when Dia discovers she is magically tethered to the enigmatic Ronin, a direct consequence of her mistakes. He barely remembers anything, but he comes with his own baggage, namely Leith, a cunning Fae Lord with his own agenda.     As the three settle into an uneasy alliance, secrets and demons come to light, with a Hellhound, sundry Stryx and nosy Filipino titas (aunties) thrown in for good measure. Will they survive the unknown Creature wreaking havoc on the city? More importantly will they survive each other?

Finally ready to show off my babies!  I spent NaNoWriMo getting it up to like 80% done, and will be posting the story in January. I have some character bios and sneak peeks lined up for the rest of the month-- hope you’ll join me for the ride!

been meaning to write an argument between Nate and my detective about Nate’s book 3 overprotection since forever haha so here’s a little something 

“I just wanted to protect you!”

“I don’t need protection!” The venom in Leith’s voice dripped out every word, no more restraints keeping the rage inside his chest just red fury falling from his lips. “Least of all from you!”

The last sentence cut the tension in the room like a guillotine, and Leith could see the moment Nate stopped thinking, his eyes wide open, lips parted.

Then his brow knit in the middle, shaking his head slightly as he asked. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

Leith clench and unclench his fists trying to regain some of his composure, the beginning of a headache already between his eyes.

“That I’m not yours to protect, Nate. I’m not yours.”       

Nate flinched. It was such a subtle move but Leith saw it all the same, saw the hurt clear in Nate’s brown eyes. A twinge of guilt coursed through his chest but he was sad too, feeling like the trust had broken between them.

“I… I never said that. Nor do I want you to feel like I was possessive or controlling of you.”

“But you were. You were controlling, you didn’t let me defend myself and you guys.”

Didn’t let me prove myself to you.

Leith couldn’t dare to say it. Almost didn’t dare to accept it himself, how much he has wanted to prove his worth to Nate, how much his rejection has hurt him.

Instead. “You treated me like a fucking child. Like you didn’t trust my skills.”  

“That’s not–“

“You think I don’t know how to protect myself or Unit Bravo? Nate, I have been alone all my fucking life, I don’t need you.”

It felt liberating, in a way, to just say it. To say what has been bothering him the last two days, to finally cut the tension between them, even if he cut it with a knife instead of a gentle hand.
