Observations on maximus now that I've gotten to play him after rolling him around in my brain for the better part of a year:
Spooky playbook, 70 year old software programmer and hobbyist master of synthesizers who died and came back wrong, decided nothing really matters (✌️🐬🌈), started dressing like a wizard in neon windbreakers, and joined his niecephew Dandy's rock band at their request
Can see and communicate with ghosts
He's a chill stoner peepaw type (this we knew) and he just wants everyone to have a nice time, whether they're alive or dead
-1 sharp, -1 tough, +2 weird
Has zero situational awareness. Has a tendency to wander off even when someone is speaking to him mid-sentence if something else has caught his attention.
Moves slow but is surprisingly spry. Can do some skateboard tricks that Dandy taught him
Has a pet rat named Wolfgang. Everyone say hi Wolfgang

Everett: His appearance. He has to look exactly the right way. It's his brand, after all.
Dogmark: Grudges. It feels good to hold a grudge, whether it's justified or not.
Sloane: Ignoring rules she thinks are stupid.
Kenny: Sentimental objects. Trivial, but important.
Max: Depends on your definition. Nothing really matters to him, so either everything or nothing.
When's the last time your OC hurt someone emotionally? What did they do?
Everett: It's the only way he knows how to treat Silas.
Dogmark: His argument with Tuck. He just doesn't understand why they want the curse.
Sloane: Happens often enough to lose count. She can be too blunt too often.
Kenny: The most recent time he saw Emily. An innocent, but reckless, misstep over thin ice.
Max: He probably was oblivious to it when it happened. Hopefully it was obvious he didn't mean it.
Is your OC ever wrong? Big ways? Small ways? About what?
Everett: Not if he can help it. Usually he can convince people he was right all along; he's been struggling with losing that ability recently.
Dogmark: All the time. Constant panic can lead to clouded judgment and bad calls in the heat of things.
Sloane: She can't afford to be. Missteps cost lives.
Kenny: It happens; he's only human. He just wishes people would hear him out more often.
Max: How do we know what's, like, actually right, you know?
What does your OC lie about?
Everett: He'll lie about anything if he thinks he'll get away with it.
Dogmark: Lies of omissionn or deflection. Anything to get him out of the hot spot.
Sloane: Whatever needs to be said to move things forward.
Kenny: Lies that he himself believes to be true.
Max: He has no interest in lying.
In what way(s) is your OC bad at life?
Everett: Most ways, actually. He's never had to be a breathing, feeling, fragile living thing before, and all the challenges that come with it.
Dogmark: He's bad with people and he's terrified to ask for what he wants. He's also not fond of being seen in public.
Sloane: She's grown pretty jaded; just been going through the motions lately.
Kenny: He's still grappling with assuming the life of the man he was before he disappeared. Easier said than done.
Max: He's unmotivated and way too passive. Don't ask him to make a decision, it'll never happen in a million years.
What fills your OC with envy? Alternatively who does your OC envy and why?
Everett: Other beings with power and influence he just can't seem to reach. Even among immortal eldritch beings, he's still always a step behind.
Dogmark: Seeing other people who have their lives figured out, who are able to live comfortably and authentically. It's not fair.
Sloane: Anyone who has the freedom to get up and leave their job behind.
Kenny: Emily’s in-laws. She embraced them so readily, warts and all. Why couldn't she offer the same grace to him?
Max: If he's envious of anyone, he doesn't let it get to him. Just let it wash over.
What physical trait(s) is your OC insecure about?
Everett: He wishes he had gotten a more masculine body this time around. The tumblr sexyman type didn't have the staying power he thought it would.
Dogmark: His teeth. And his ears. And his scrawny frame. And his scraggly facial hair. And--
Sloane: She pretends the signs of her age don't bother her, but they really really really do. Slowing down gets you killed.
Kenny: The fact that he doesn't have a REFLECTION
Max: Insecure? I think you have the wrong Max.
What personality trait(s) or habit(s) is your OC insecure about?
Everett: He knows he tries too hard, but he just can't help it.
Dogmark: He wishes he wasn't so jumpy all the damn time.
Sloane: She knows she should really, really quit smoking, but, that hasn't happened yet
Kenny: He's aware he's clingy, but he just can't loosen his grip.
Max: Again. I think you have the wrong Max.
What's a moment your OC is ashamed to remember?
Everett: Moments after death, begging to be sent back.
Dogmark: How good it felt to take a life in his jaws.
Sloane: How ready she was to give in to a fucking illusion.
Kenny: Just one? Try the months-long period starting with taking the cursed tape recorder and ending in Alice wrecking his shit for it.
Max: He used to be a harsher, more selfish person. Thankfully, that guy died.
What's your OC's biggest fuck up?
Everett: Starting to grow accustomed to having feelings.
Dogmark: His life is just a long chain of fuck ups, tbh.
Sloane: She'd tell you it was getting into this line of work in the first place.
Kenny: Taking the damn recorder. Hands down.
Max: Dying, probably! He mostly regards it as a fresh start though.
Have there been any horrible consequences to well-intentioned choices your OC made? How did they cope with that?
Everett: He has a long history of trying to establish allyships for mutual gain that ended up backfiring on him terribly. He's much more guarded about partnerships these days.
Dogmark: Discouraging Tuck from embracing its monstrosity was definitely well intentioned, he had absolutely no clue that it would hurt them so badly.
Sloane: Plenty of bad calls on missions that led to casualties. Best way to cope is to grit your teeth and learn from the mistakes.
Kenny: Avoiding telling Emily what happened to her mother. He just didn't want to talk about it, but it ended up sowing seeds of distrust extremely early in her life.
Max: Yeah, sometimes his "relax, everything will be fine" attitude is a problem in the heat of an actual life-threatening scenario lmao
Who hates your OC? Why?
Everett: Too many to count. It's easy to make enemies in the climb to the top.
Dogmark: He thinks everyone secretly hates him, for every reason and for no reason.
Sloane: HR department. They have a whole drawer full of incident reports just from her.
Kenny: Buff Midler. I will not elaborate
Max: The fans of the band he's in certainly dislike him for being the one member who's not a smooth-faced trendy twenty-something
What do your OC and their LI fight about?
Everett: Keeping up the ruse for appearances and personal gain. It's an act he does from time to time for publicity.
Dogmark: Well their last fight was atypical, but it was about Mark being worried that Tuck was getting too enthusiastic about eating people
Sloane: Mundane, petty arguments that hint at something deeper that neither of them will address.
Kenny: [thinks about him having a love interest again and loses my little mind]
Max: He's pretty uninterested in the whole "romance" thing.
