#oc: dash

All Im thinking of is Dash proposing to both the girls and just the nervous energy that’d be wafting off of him.. would they know?? Would he successfully pull it off??

teeeechnically he and petra both ambush selene for that one

like petra is the least emotionally aware but selene is the one with commitment issues (or - that is - the one who has the most fear people will leave her, and thus the most afraid to Label) and so after she makes a joke about she'll get married the day they do every district's wedding traditions petra and dash decide to sneakily ("sneakily" lmao) do just that while on their panem-wide relocation tour

so the first "proposal" is in d12 and i was going explain it but i remembered i wrote it uhhh /checks notes 12 years ago (lmao!) and then never wrote any of the others so here! have the first one

District Twelve

"You're not getting me to eat that," Selene accuses, arms crossed over her chest. The firelight flickers against her skin, highlighting the shadows cast on her arms by the curve of her bicep, and Petra lets her gaze linger, swallowing the strange question in her chest of whether this amazing woman actually belongs to her because the answer is yes, yes she does.

"It's bread," Dash says without looking at her, and he's keeping a pretty good straight face for someone who used to be such a terrible liar that he could power half the district with the sheer force of his terribleness. Petra wonders which one of them has been the bad influence, but since he'd been Selene's partner for years and never picked up the skill, she likes to think she's the one who corrupted him. He sticks the bread onto the end of the long metal fork and holds it over the fire.

"It's toast," Selene says in a flat voice.

"Bread," Petra repeats, smiling sunnily. "Which we are cooking --"

"Toasting."

"-- cooking over the fire, because they might have electricity now but they're still working on basic household appliances." Dash sits close to the flames, which is a good move because he can blame the red flush on the heat. "If you want to read something into it, that's not our fault."

"You're fucking liars, both of you!" Selene shoves Petra in the shoulder, though Dash is safe because no amount of mischief deserves getting pushed head-first into a crackling fire. Petra just grins, showing her teeth. "I saw the damn broadcast -- I was in the Capitol for it, same as Dash, so don't 'it's bread' me -- I saw Peeta Mellark tell the whole district exactly what you're doing and what it means. I was joking back home. We're not actually doing this." 

Dash takes the bread out of the fire and sets it down on a plate; Petra passes him the small pat of goat milk butter and the oozing honeycomb Selene pried from the centre of a tree just this afternoon. "All we're doing is eating," Dash says, and yeah his ears are still red but Petra gives him points for committing to the bit. "And you don't have to have any, but I slaved over this fireplace for a whole two minutes, so it would be nice if you at least tried it."

He tears off a piece -- it's homemade, stone-ground with poor flour but at least it's not shitty tesserae drop biscuits, not now not ever -- and offers it to Petra, honey dripping over his fingers. And the thing is, they're messing with Selene except that they aren't, joking except for the part where they're not, and their eyes lock and Petra's breath sticks in her chest. 

It's just toast, except it isn't, and Petra takes a bite and lets it sit, warm and sweet, before swallowing. She catches Dash's hand as he pulls back and slides the ends of his fingers back into her mouth to get the last of the honey, winking at him as she nips his fingertips and he jumps. "It's good toast," Petra says, keeping her voice casual. "You should try some." This time she holds out a piece for Dash, and he doesn't try to be cute and kiss her fingers or anything but his throat works long after he finishes the single bite.

Selene looks at them both, then clicks her tongue in annoyance. "Fine," she says, and this is her too-casual voice but that's okay, that's why they're doing this. "Give me a piece, I guess." 

Petra sits back and lets Dash go first; Selene has her bluster face on, and Dash is doing his best not to blind her with his sincerity -- not doing too badly, only one eye twitching from the effort -- and he manages to feed her without Selene doing more than sucking in a hard breath once or twice. It's easier on the return; Selene twists the bread at the last second and smears honey across Dash's mouth, and when he wrinkles his nose and pokes at the sticky spot she grins and leans forward to kiss him. 

Petra watches them, and unlike her self a year ago, this time she doesn't twinge with jealousy at sitting like a spectator, intruding on their moment. This time she just grins and lets herself love them, warm and full inside her like she swallowed a sunbeam along with the bread, because in a minute it will be her turn. And it is; once Selene and Dash separate, Selene turns on her with a raised eyebrow and says, "I hope you don't mind honey in your hair," as she holds a piece of toast like a weapon.

"You wouldn't hurt a little crippled girl, would you?" Petra asks piteously, holding up her hands, and Selene snorts.

"No, but I'll let you know if I see one," Selene shoots back.

Petra laughs aloud, and Selene uses the opportunity to cram the toast in her mouth. "You'll notice Dash fed me nicely," Petra says through the crunching. "I think I like him better than you." 

"I'm crying, really," Selene says, but she's grinning now, and she finishes the last of the bread Petra offers her and doesn't even try to bite her, though she does turn her head and press a sticky kiss to the underside of Petra's wrist.

"There," Dash says, tossing aside the toasting fork and moving the rest of the loaf aside for later. He tugs Selene over, pulling her to lie with her head in his lap, and he holds out his arm for Petra to curl in against his side, stretching out her leg on the floor. "Now we've officially ... eaten toast."

"You're both shits," Selene announces, closing one eye and peering up at them with the other. 

"Yeah but we're your shits," Petra tells her, then blinks and makes a face at the same time that Selene and Dash both say 'gross'. Selene cracks up, and Dash kisses Petra's hair and rubs a finger between Selene's eyes as the fire flickers in front of them.

Meet the boys of the 419th! Senior Commander Booker and Chief Medic Wise serve directly under their Jedi General Soma Anathorn, while Captain Snap leads the 419th's Maelstrom Company, of which Dash and Screwball are members. All five of them are veterans of the Second Battle of Kamino.

The 419th Brigade is one of four legions under General Obi-Wan Kenobi's 7th Sky Corps, serving as its arm in the Outer Rim and Unknown Regions. You can read more about them in my longfic Event Horizon. 🫡💙

Dash – The Fighter

-> fae, 23, male

-> dark green hair and eyes

-> Willow court, Finch family

-> occupation: royal guard, instructor of the guards in training

-> family: mother, father, little sister

Dash is part of the royal guard, he is coaching new recruits for the guard

he also trained Halea, Talon and Maya (Halea is his secret favorite, he says she reminds him of his little sister)  

he’s very loyal towards Callan (who he’s also friends with) and he loves being a guard, probably that’s why he’s so good at his job

he’s very energetic, cheeky, loud and wild and often causes trouble

in other words: Dash has the personality of a bouncy ball

Behnam is his best friend, even though they are the complete opposite of each other
