Beachside reunion couplefie
Catching up with my former neighbor Marcelo “Mar” Raro, at the Sikatuna Beach Hotel in Barangay San Roque of the Municipality of San José, in the Province of Occidental Mindoro.
I had met Mar when we were both members of the church choirs of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, growing up in the Cubáo District of Quezón, and we ceased contact after my family had moved from Cubáo to Marikina City.
When the FEU (Far Eastern University) sent me to Mindoro to represent the school and help the school in the DENR’s (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) efforts to save the highly endangered and endemic Tamaraw (Bubalus mindorensis); I was informed that Mar had moved to San José, and he was now a radio commentator at the DZXL 558 Radio Mindanao Network.
When I contacted Mar, we dcided to meet at the Sikatuna Beach Hotel, as that is where I was billeted. We also chose the Sikatuna, as it was just a short 650 meter walk towards the DENR’s Tamaraw Conservation Program (TCP) compound.
