List of Ten Books Thought to be Infernal or Cursed
(Compiled from numerous Occult books and internet sources;
not guaranteed to be completely accurate)
#10 - The Necronomicon
(possible title translation: An Image of the Lore of
the Dead); conceived by H.P. Lovecraft in the early
20th century; features his invented evil entity Cthulhu;
the book was supposedly bound in human skin; gives the
power to resurrect the dead; became an actual book by
various publishers including a disturbing 'pop-up'
version.
#9 - The Orphan's Story
by Cadenez; 1608-1615; by a monk who broke his vows and
sold his soul to the devil; the book never got published
because all those who tried would die under mysterious
circumstances; finally published be the Hispanic Society
of America; it being 400 years before finally appearing
in print.
#8 - The Book of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin the Mage
by la Meck; c.1900; a book in three parts; states that
each person has their own personal demons and how to
call them up; anyone in possession of the book will have
terrible luck and will be haunted by spirits.
#7 - (Untitled) Grimoire
by Persephone Abrecia Irene; 18th century?; ran
her own coven passed to her by her mother; anyone not
of the Craft who reads the book risks swift retribution
by the hand of those who are; according to Craft law
the book should have been burned upon the death of the
witch who wrote it.
#6 - Voynich Manuscript
author unknown; thought to be written in the early
15th century; written in an indecipherable language
with elaborate illustrations; first owned by George
Beresch who claims it just mysteriously appeared in
his library.
#5 - Lesser Key of Solomon (Grimoire)
author unknown; 17th century; discusses how to
conjure demons and how to control them; contains
curses; shows how to find lost objects, make love
potions, and liqueurs of persuasion; owning it brings
strange occurrences and shadow creatures; can bring
catastrophic bad luck; to be rid of it requires the
burning of the pages and proper disposal of the
ashes.
#4 - The Codex Gigas (Devil's Bible)
12th century; written by a condemned monk (name unknown)
who broke his vows; he supposedly summoned Lucifer to
to complete the book after his death (sealed behind a
brick wall); thus completed by the devil himself;
contains dark rituals and drawings of the devil and
other demonic entities; use caution reading it.
#3 - The Book of Soyga
author unknown; early 16th century; written in Latin;
it is said the book came into being when Adam ended
paradise; owned by John Dee who devoted his entire life
to decoding it; he was able to determine that it is full
of dark rituals and incantations, but could not
decipher the final 36 pages; supposedly summoned the
Arch Angel Uriel to help, who said it can only be
interpreted by Arch Angel Michael; anyone who manages
to decipher the final 36 pages is fated to die within
two and a half years.
#2 - Tomino's Hell
1919; a poem written by Japanese poet Yamoto Inahito;
from the book 'The Heart Is Like A Rolling Stone'; about
a boy stricken with guilt after the death of his sisters
and father; the pain and suffering he recorded has
caused the book to be cursed; who reads it aloud will
suffer eternal damnation to the deepest recesses of
hell.
#1 - The Grand Grimoire (The Gospel of Satan)
11th century; author unknown; most potent and deadly
book in existence; written by a man supposedly
possessed by the Devil; full of powerful incantations;
shows how to summon powerful demons; how to raise the
dead; comes with a price that if you read it you are
offering your soul to the devil; considered highly
dangerous; supposedly now hidden in Vatican secret
archives.
