the hubby☆ . [ ask ]
Jotaro huffed into the receiver of the landline phone, a smirk plastering itself across his slightly-chapped lips. The man clad in white took a sip from his tea, fixing his dry, sore throat, bringing in a soothing sensation and giving himself a couple moments of freedom from suffering.
Even if he was sick, he had no choice but to stay in Morioh, so for the time being, the only thing saving him from losing his voice completely was his cinnamon tea and the idea of simply keeping his trap shut. Of course, the latter was proved difficult, considering he needed to spend at least fifty percent of his time practically babysitting the Morioh kids, requiring him to use his voice to call out Josuke or even Yukako, quite possibly the most mature out of them all, to stop them from doing whatever flat out ridiculous idea they had planned.
Though, despite how frustrating it was sometimes, he loved them all, the marine biologist cared about them…and even reminded him of himself, sometimes.
He should be resting his voice, he thought to himself, but here he was, at least attempting to have a conversation with his husband, who happened to be on the opposite side of the planet at this very moment in the state of Florida, which just so happened to be located in the United States.
Home. Well, current home.
“If I’m leaving you speechless, how are you able to speak to me right now?” The ocean-eyed man eyed the liquid in his small cup before setting it down on it’s rightful spot on the small end table next to him, the cup accompanied by it’s own China plate. Maybe this hotel was really fancy after all? Or maybe the female employees were dead set on winning a date with him, thinking that if he’s treated like royalty they’ll win his heart?
Hah.
“I wouldn’t say I leave you speechless…” Jotaro’s voice sounded hoarse, the man mentally cursing to himself as he felt that familiar burning sensation returning to his throat once more. Okay fine, you win. “Maybe just unsure of what to say next besides “you leave me speechless.”
Tenmei missed his husband so much.
It was undeniable that he and Jotaro were practically inseparable, almost always hanging around each other or writing letters to each other or talking over the phone. It was almost inevitable that they’d eventually interact, in some way or other, and it was extremely difficult to deal with not being around him, knowing he’d have to go to bed every night with difficulty, eyes sporting dark circles and the only thing comforting him in those lonely nights being the scent and feeling of being wrapped up in Jotaro’s sweaters or coats.
So of course, he takes any chance he can get to speak to his husband, constantly worried about his state of being or what’s going on or if he’s injured anywhere. It’s tedious not to know what’s going on, and tedious to have been denied tagging along because ‘oh tenmei no you’re handicapped and can’t walk you can’t possibly go on your own’....as if he were some five year old or something. It both infuriated him and made him feel....useless, now. Piled on top of the fact that he wouldn’t be updated on the fact that something might be happening to Jotaro, he finds his mind wandering more and more during work, and finds himself having breakdowns more often.
But now, when he’s able to talk to Jotaro and get updates on what’s happening and being reassured that he’s okay, it soothes him...It’s nice to be able to hear his voice again.....Well, sort of. He’s still worried because of the other’s illness, and with the past he’s had of stand sickness...He’s not so sure he should overlook the topic or take it lightly.
The redhead felt selfish, taking up all of Jotaro’s time, when he could be resting instead of straining his voice, just to speak to him...
“It’s not meant to be taken literally, Jotaro, although I can say for sure sometimes you do leave me genuinely speechless....But yeah, I’d say you make it hard for me to know what to say next sometimes.” He smiles softly, twirling the phone cord...It was unhealthy to stay up so late, just to be able to talk to his husband...But he’d do it, he’d stay up as long as possible if it meant knowing he was safe.
It’s a long pause, where he’s thinking and wondering what to say next, before he finally speaks up once more.
“I’m sorry I’m taking up so much time. You should be resting....But I miss you. A lot. I want to make sure you’re okay..I love you.” Tenmei frowns, gazing down at the wedding ring on his left hand ring finger, adjusting it and fidgeting with it silently.
