Largest great white shark surfaces off Florida tourist hotspot

The biggest great white shark ever recorded in the Atlantic is lingering just six miles off the coast of a major tourist destination.

14ft Contender's most recent 'ping' last week placed him approximately six miles off St. Augustine, Florida.

Hating that I found out that Ocearc.h (the organization with the SharkTracker app) recently partnered with Seaworld. And their team has no scientists on their crew— which in itself isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but their tagging method is frowned upon by many shark scientists, and has caused damage to their dorsal fins… 😐

ok SO i have the ocearch shark tracker app (it also tracks sea turtles, whales, etc 10/10 rec) there’s this white shark named mary lee and the batteries in her tracker died so she can no longer be located and the commenttsss on her profile !!! actually made me laugh audibly

Sharks are just large sea puppers and I wanna support the research Ocearch is doing but I do be needing to wait for my paycheck

But if any of you haven't heard of Ocearch and what they do, I recommend looking into their team! I'm still really upset about what happened to one of their tagged sharks named Zuza, and then I remembered I have a job and can support these things now, but then I remembered I have like $20 so while I wait for more money I'm gonna fuckin scream about these good bois and encourage y'all to get on board with loving and supporting them

The OCEARCH Shark Tracker app recently had a MASSIVE update; it now includes some turtles, seals, dolphins, and few random fish, and you can COMMENT on each one to offer praise and encouragement. It’s the best thing that’s happened to me all week.
