'That's All, Folks!' Wow what an incredible Oak Cliff Film Festival! @filmoakcliff. Last night 'A Ghost Story' blew the collective minds of a sold out house at @texastheatre and we'll all be contemplating the afterlife for a while I'm sure. Definitely go see it when it comes out next month! @davidpatricklowery #ocff2017 #ocff #aghoststory #davidlowery (at Texas Theatre)

First week of the last semester
Today was my last week of the semester and a lot has happened in five days. First. I became producer on my movie. Which is cool and not cool at the same time. It's cool because it is a great position and I'm good at it and it is going to be a great learning opportunity, but I mainly took it because I think I'm the only person in my class who can pull it off (only a little offense to anyone in my class that is reading this. Except you Jorge. You're cool) Then on Tuesday we got an awesome opportunity to win a $6,000 filmmaking grant from the oak cliff film festival. They also give you $4,000 worth of film and video equipment. Which is fucking dope. But that meant getting ready five minutes of test footage, a five page proposal, a budget, a production timeline, and 10 pages of a script. That is a lot of work when it was due on Friday. So I asked for help from my classmates. I got mostly nothing. So I ended up doing it mostly by myself. Oh I also forgot to mention that I wasn't just doing this for my movie at school. I did it for another outside documentary that me and my friends from outside of school want to make. So it was double the producing work. So that took up my whole week. Going to school 17.5 hours a week Working 40 hours a week And doing outside jobs and trying to have a social life is kicking my ass. So it is time for a beer. It's gonna be a long summer.
Direct Film Making Animation on 16mm Film
WhenSun, June 22, 10am – 2pm
WhereOil and Cotton (map)
DescriptionSaturday, June 20, 9-1pm Sunday, June 21, 10-2pm Instructor: Steve Crossman from Mono No Aware of New York* In this workshop students will learn to manipulate the surface of 16mm film using a variety of direct film-making techniques; painting, scratching, collage, and masking in order to create an experimental animation. This intensive workshop is designed to introduce, explore and master (on some level) the ability to articulate movement through the tactile gesturings of this beautiful cinematic language. The course will meet 2 times, beginning with a brief history of filmmakers using these methods along with their contemporaries. After instruction students will get their hands dirty almost immediately. The goal is to have each participant create a short direct film work on 16mm film, that we will screen at the end of the session. Participants will walk away with hands on experience of direct film making, a finished film work, the knowledge to continue to work in this practice at home, and a list of venues to pursue for exhibition. All materials will be provided for.
I was at the OCFF last night (a few hours ago..it's 1:56am as I type this) and it was so fucking amazing! The theme was steam punk. At first, I had no idea what the hell that meant but when I saw the production the festival made for the show ..oh mY GODD. IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL. I don't want to describe it all but yah. Amazing. As in, I want their clothes. Like HULLO CORSETS ARE AWEESOOMEE
