It was the first case in ages that he was starting without his little brother, but Sam would catch up with him when he was done in Wisconsin. Mystic Falls had been written about in his father’s journal, apparently the town was on the radar for being filled to the brim with—animal attacks; each attack had had their throat ripped out, drained out of most of their blood, and left discarded in a wooded area.
Dean had known immediately what the attacks were, and it wasn’t an animal attack. He didn’t know now many vampires were lurking among the people of Mystic Falls, but he would find out soon enough. First things first, before any hunting could happen, a hunter had to eat, and that’s how he found himself making his way into the Mystic Grill. It wasn’t the lunch rush, so that was good, he could probably get a decent look at some of the locals, maybe get a few ideas on what they thought of the brutal attacks.
And to see if any of them could possibly be undead. He knew it was a long shot, but his father had written down (and proceeded to underline /three times/) about the possibility of vampires that could walk in the sun, that didn’t need to stay hidden away from it. And that was another thing he’d keep an eye on. Weird clothing, odd potions, Hell; maybe something as small as a ring could do something like that.
He didn’t know, but he needed to find out, and before more innocent people lost their lives to the monsters lurking around in their neighborhood. It had been a rough year for them; with their dad dying, with Sam’s fiancée being murdered in front of him, and he didn’t blame his brother for wanting to take on a smaller case alone. It just meant that the danger lurking around Mystic Falls wouldn’t cause any injury to his little brother. He spoke to the waitress that took is order, a grin blessing his lips. There was that charm. “A burger would be great, please. My brother isn’t here, so he can’t bitch at me to get a salad. And a beer would be great.” He added, because dammit, he deserved one.
She gave him a smile and a nod, moving off to put in his order. There were a few people that he could speak to, from the looks of it, but apparently the first he would do so to was taking a seat at his table, directly across from him.
