Hi, I’m Oda. Are you enjoying Jump Festa? I’m watching One Piece Super Stage with you. It’s fun, indeed. Actually I visit Jump Festa every year to have a dinner with Straw Hats Voice Actors after Jump Festa.
By the way, One Piece will finally enter Wana next year!! Some well-informed audience members might think, “You said the same thing last year, right?” Yes, I did say that because I thought One Piece would be able to enter Wano in 2017. This time I’d like to add new information.
I’ll introduce one of the legends which lurks in the One Piece world. The greatest enemy ever for Straw Hats will hinder their way. Perhaps it will be something related to Whitebeard. Oops. It’s seems I’m being too talkative. Ca you believe Marineford Summit War will look cute compared to that?
Anyway, there are tons of stuff I wanna draw next year as well. I’ll keep moving forward with my full force!! I’m sure you’re gonna love it!!

Thoughts on Trafalgar Law and other Supernovas in “One Piece The 27th Log” released Dec 20th 2017
Oda: I have to mentioned Trafalgar Law. Actually it’s not too much to say that all Supernovas have more highlights scenes than I imagined. I created Supernovas right before the chapter where they got introduced. None of them existed in my plot notebooks before that chapter. I was in a desperate situation, worrying. “At this rate, Sabaody arc will not be interesting enough.” Then, inspiration for 9 supernovas came to my mind unconsciously. I should have reduced the number of Supernovas since they were too many, but after all, I made all of the mappear in manga!! I’m really surprised they survive til now since I thought about half of them would drop out of the tough New World already.
They are worst!! They are the worst generation, indeed. I imagined Kid would become an important character, but... Law!! I did not imagine he would become such an important character. Weekly serialization is a wonderland.

- the plan for breaking up the Straw Hats was already decided when Kuma was introduced in chapter 233. Editor Kohei Onishi advised Oda to spice up the story in Sabaody. Oda replied, “Would it be interesting if new characters appear?”
- only 3 hours after this advice, Oda finished designing all Supernovas

Oda talks about One Piece being the best selling manga for 10 straight years
I’m honored to hear that One Piece is the best-selling manga for 10 consecutive years!! Thank you for tayllying the numbers every eyar. I keep in mind that I shuld obtain as many readers as possible. I’ve experienced that people can make friends via talking about manga ever sine I was a kid. I love being number one. I won’t forget the feeling of gratittude. I’ll make every effort to make One PIece the best manga in terms of both records and people’s memory!! Thank you so much!!

- Audience/fans sometimes ask Oda about foreshadowing via fan letters, which makes him think, “Oh my god! I haven’t mentioned it yet!” When fans ask him, “What are the names of Luffy’s moves based on, he searches it on One Piece fansite. Oda feels as if him and his audience are working together to create One Piece
- Oda came up with the idea of Marineford Summit War long ago
- Oda says it’s hard to talk about justice through Luffy’s mouth since he is a pirate. So, Oda just puts a simple conclusion that the topposite side of justice is another justice. Oda says it’s one of the main themes of One Piece.
- Oda’s effort for One Piece is divided into 40% drawings and 60% story
- Oda already has the idea of how One Piece will end ever since the first chapter. In an interview in 2012, Oda said the final arc will be so amazing it will make Marineford War arc look like nothing

- it was originally planned that Doflamingo and Corazon would have no blood relation and that Corazon would just be one of his subordinates.
- Vergo’s code name was “Sir Dean”
- Donquixote Homing, Doflamingo’s father, was originally called Donquixote Dressking. Homing and Cobra were good friends
- Doflamingo thought “I’m gonna become king of the world” after escaping from Mariejois. Then he formed a crime syndicate in “Downs” in North Blue
- After Roger got executed, Doflamingo made up his mind “ I’m gonna become Pirate King”
- Amazon Lily arc got more sexy than Oda had planned since he was glad that his editor Hattori got hyped every time he drew sexy characters. Hattori jokingly complains, “Your words sound like I’m just a lecherous editor!”

One Piece The 23rd Log, haven’t finished One Piece cause of Shichibukai 7 warlords
- I haven’t finished One Piece yet despite the 20 year serialization. The main reason is these guys (Shichibukai). At first, I intended to finish One Piece in 5 years. It was supposed to be a story to fight against pirates called Yonkou. However, I came up with the idea of Shichiukai. I just thought, “It would be badass if these characters showed up.” Then as you can see, it caused this long serialization!!
- Why didn’t I make them Gobukai or Nibukai!!? I thought 7 was a cool number!! That being said, I don’t regret it since I draw what I wanted ... I’m regretting a bit!!
