chapter 803
May J Lee interview with “Preview.ph”
How long have you been dancing?
“It’s been slightly over 10 years since I started choreography as my career.”
How did you get into this career path?
“I majored in practical dancing at university, and my school happened to have high level of interests in street dancing and dance battle. So, I naturally learned street dance. Then I had an opportunity to join a tap dance team run by my professor, and began to juggle between dancing with the team and my own activities pivoting around street dancing. I continued for about two to three years and then had to stop because of chronic injuries on feet. Then I started having my interest in acting and made a career switch, while balancing teaching in dance-related areas. But after all [that], I reached my own conclusion that I had my passion in dancing, rather than acting and went back to my career in dancing; [I became even more in love with choreography, [which actually] adequately balances acting and dancing, [a completely] different experience from street dancing. My interest and efforts in learning choreography [have] brought me to where I am now.”
What do you like the most about dancing?
“Dancing has [taught me to] seize the moment [and allows] me [to be] myself. “
Can you walk us through your everyday routine? Do you dance every day?
“Everything from the start until the end of the day seems to have strong ties with dancing. I check out the latest video clips and music. It takes enormous effort and care to pick a piece of music for classes. I never stop thinking about what to include in choreography and what kind of outfits to match, even outside the studio, walking around streets. I try not to think about anything when I relax, but that doesn’t seem to work out the way I want. My everyday routine basically revolves around dancing: choreographing for classes, practicing, and then teaching. And since I receive requests for jobs outside the studio, in the end, I always find myself dancing.”
How do get unstuck creatively?
“When I find myself stuck while choreographing, and not liking my idea, I watch movies, relax, or even dine out; because [refreshing] helps me come up with new ideas for dancing.”
How important are clothes to dancing?
“Clothes play a crucial role in dancing. Each type of choreography needs different styles of clothing. I carefully select clothing that would effectively [show the flow] of each movement. But most of all, these outfits have to look great on me. I need to admit that I go through trial-and-error every once in a while, and face challenges in selecting outfits; but from my experience, I believe that I’m getting closer to finding my own style.”
What kind of clothes and shoes do you like to dance in?
“My personal favorites are cropped T-shirts, tights, and jogger pants. I prefer simplicity and sophistication in style, balancing the sports elements with sexiness. For shoes, I prefer a pair that I would be comfortable in, also because of the past injuries from tap dancing.”
Can you tell us about your off-duty look?
“I think my off-duty look is closely tied with [my dancing looks]. I express my preference in style both on stage and off.”
What's been your favorite choreography so far?
“I wouldn’t pick any particular piece as my favorite; rather, I would [pick] one that became special to me. It’s one for the song titled ‘Worth It’ by Fifth Harmony featuring Kid Ink. The video clip of the class has reached over 80 million views, been covered by countless number of people, and is still being liked by so many [even after posting it] over a year ago. I truly appreciate this kind of feedback. I [know] the music itself was popular, but it thrills me that it’s been liked by so many.”

Really good One Piece theory on the end game for each Straw Hat
Oda planned from the very beggining for each SH to have a specific part of the end of the journey devoted to them:
With Sanji, it seems like Oda long ago planned to have a Yonko who was obsessed with food, so that Sanji could have his defining moment as a chef in "beating her" with cooking.
Zoro is based off Oda's original character Ryuma, the king of swordsmen. Coming to Wano will bring Zoro's character full circle and I am certain this will be the arc where Zoro plays a major role in the land of swordsmen.
Robin will be the one to finally unravel the history of the world, and will be deciphering the final poneglyphs
The ultimate test for a navigator would be finding Raftel, the place no one has been able to get to. That would be Nami's key role.
Franky will be making Pluton, and I am certain of it. Perhaps even converting the Sunny into Pluton. He comes from a long line of shipwrights entrusted with the blueprints to Pluton in case an evil enemy ever acquired the real thing. I am certain either the WG or the BB pirates will be discovering the Pluton in Alabasta, and Franky as the last successor of the pluton blueprints will have to make a counter ship to combat it, as the line of shipwrights was always destined to do.
Roger died of an incurable illness. At this point, Luffy has been shaving away his lifespan repeatedly, and I am certain that there will come a point where Chopper will have to tackle his dream of "curing any disease" head on when he has to save Luffy's life
I believe Ussop's character was written from the start to end with a sacrifice. A lot of people write this off as a dumb theory and assume no SH's will die, but the more I have thought about it the more I am certain this is what will happen. It's hard to provide concrete evidence for this, aside from that moment in Little Garden. A lot of this is just based on other theories, like what I posted above. But based on the way Oda writes, my belief is he has planned each SH's journey out from the beginning to conclude their stories with a unique moment that allows them to play a key role in the story, while also being the natural culmination of their character arc.The simplest reason I can give is that I believe the one moment that will allow Ussop to die with absolute pride and certainty that he is indeed a brave warrior of the sea, and provide the most dramatic moment possible at the climax of the story, is him sacrificing himself in some way to save the rest of the SH's.I think that he had a death sentence over his head from day 1, the same way Ace did. I think the natural culmination of his character arc is him forever cementing his bravery and worth as a SH by dying as he proclaims that he is a great warrior of the sea.I think he will also get plenty of focus in the Elbaf arc, and that may be his "highlight arc", but I think his most important moment will be his sacrifice.

One Piece: What were fans saying at the time of Impel Down and Marineford? I go through old chapter discussion threads (FORUMS!!)
Skip the next 2 paragraphs if you want the comments right away
Everyone is welcome to their own opinions, I was just curious. And yes I understand at that time Oda had yet to kill any character, so it was all the more shocking. But my curiosity does stem from Oda's anything can happen story-telling and wanting to see if there were similarly passionate people about Ace not dying like I've seen for Jinbe not dying. Another reason was one user saying this was the general response he got when saying Ace was going to die. "[Ace dying] has to be stupidest fucking theory. Its makes no good sense for Ace to die because of his relationship to Luffy, and his importance to Whitebeard. Go kill yourself."
p.s. it was a pain in the ass going through all these forum posts, especially the multitude of grammar mistakes and typos! hopefully someone enjoys this. I've edited some comments just for clarity and easier reading with capitalization, proper grammar etc. Okay here we go...
May 2008 Chapter 501 first mention of Ace since Blackbeard vs. Ace in Chapter 440-441
"I can't see his death happening. Oda has kept him alive for far too long to kill him off now." "Oda can't kill off a devil fruit user until after we meet Dr. Vegapunk and learn how Devil Fruits really work." this last comment wasn't directly related to Ace, but made by the same user
"Ace dying? No way, that's gonna happen, not in One Piece."
"Garp watching his own grandson die? DOUBT IT."
"if a bomb that detonates at point blank range and Pell still survives, I don't know what could kill any important named character in One Piece"
There was also a lot of people arguing that Ace dying was a possibility. Some people gave the reason that side/minor characters did die, so it wasn't like Oda never killed anyone. "Hahahahaha, all these people who think Ace is going to live. ODA WOULDN'T KILL ACE, THAT'D BE MEANIE-FACE OF HIM" lol...
September 2008 Chapter 516 Ace's execution date and place revealed.
After so much cannon-fodder has survived, if Oda were to kill Ace, that'd be such a slap in the face to Ace's character. My gosh, Conis' dad on Skypiea survived Enel's lightening bolt attack.
The fodder he let survive in those ridiculous circumstances takes away from the impact, and instead of being powerful, it just makes me upset. And it's not like Oda went out of his way to indicate that attacks missed the character or something partially blocked the attacks. The attacks were made and shrugged off in an instant. Simply Ridiculous if you ask me. For the record, I like Ace too ^_^
But, my point is this. If a writer does not even waste the time to kill off no-name no-development characters, how is this same writer supposed to kill off a well-named, popular, developed character? I say "impossible" and Ace will not die.
I'm simply saying that due to Oda's consistent behaviour in having characters (that are not main ones) survive ridiculous circumstances cheapens the suspense one should feel at dire times like "Ace's execution in one week!
this^ was all one person, bold emphasis mine
"I seriously doubt Ace would die though. Like I said before, it would make the Whitebeard pirates look incompetent if they can't at the very least free Ace and complete their mission before getting wiped out."
"I just can't see [any] sign that would tell me [that Oda would change his no killing rule]."
"I doubt Ace will die though"
"I REAAAALLY hope Oda doesn't do anything stupid (like killing Ace) 'cause THAT I dunno if I would be able to handle... Anyway don't think so judging how brilliant [Oda] is." it's okay :'(
pretty accurate prediction "If it counts for anything Ace probably won't die from the execution as planned, he'll probably die protecting a crew member or Whitebeard or taking a killing blow from Blackbeard....."
"Also, check out the woman standing on the very right of the first panel on page 9. Not only is she as buff as humanoid Chopper, it appears she's shirtless. Hot stuff if you ask me." random lol
this person seemed dead certain Luffy wasn't gonna rescue Ace. So, even though I said everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I do think taking a firm stance on predictions is kinda like if someone was super certain gambling at a casino. It might be right, but the house always wins. Except in this case Oda is "the house" and he could suddenly say black is red, and red is black cause there are no set rules.
November 2008 Chapter 522, Luffy finds out Ace is going to be executed
"For the thousandth time guys, characters only die in flashbacks, why can't we get it, we're on the freaking 522 chapter, jeez!"
There wasn't really a lot of "Is Ace gonna die" discussion in this post. The stuff I included is just random shit I found funny or intereting, so you can skip to the next chapter if you want Ace stuff.
"Luffy storming the castle (Impel Down) and saving the princess (Ace) while showing off his newly acquired hockey skillz" great typo
"The one thing that would really upset me would be Crocodile being freed by Luffy (absolutely no good reason 4 that!) and crocodile helping Luffy free Ace. that would be a everyone-is-a-good-guy-after-being-beat-by-luffy and the-world-is-horribly-colourful event which would be totally FUBAR and could possibly make me quit reading OP. So I just cross my finger and hope they only meet in a comedic way" Hope he kept reading.
I just found this funny "And now Hancock has fallen in love with Luffy. I was thinking she was a little old for Luffy...but times were different then." times were different then (then or than? sorry english not first language)
Despite the negativity, I still feel the passion:
"You know whatever the case it may be this 'fatal disease' is truly used for Plot purposes. Boa already made up her mind not to honor her Shichibukai calling and even told Luffy that the Kuja pirates would only sail him as far as the Sabaody islands. But lo and behold, all of a sudden this “fatal disease" comes along. How ironic when Luffy needed a speedy way to reach Ace. All of a sudden after some chest pains Hancock jumps on Luffy's nuts and has an 180 degree mind change and agrees to take Luffy to a place she refuses and hates to go. This means she honored her calling as a Shichibukai by using the Marine battleship, just so Luffy could get there quicker cause she 'loves him?'. Pfft... How lame is that storytelling [writing]?" The commenter put the square brackets. Also, would 'convenient' make more sense than 'ironic'?
"As for the rest of the chapter, most of it was recycled and overused dialogue. We got some new info on the ships and some geography but that was it. IMO, this chapter was terrible in many ways, the cover was good though."
And a positive one with eloquence:
I've given it some serious thought and I do believe that this is one of the best chapters Oda has ever written. It has everything you want from a story. Everything. That's not to say it works well as a self-contained story. No, I would strongly disagree there. But as the part of a continuing series, this is one of his greatest pieces.
The flow, the pace, the LENGTH, the careful and deliberate revelations (full-well knowing the effects they will have on the fan community) the vision and scope of what lies ahead being revealed and some great comedy. I have enjoyed reading OP for a long time. But I don't think I've ever enjoyed a single chapter on so many different levels like this before. Osamu Tezuka? Sit the fuck down bitch.
someones response to above^ "How about we watch the language there buddy, thanx" and they bolded 'fuck' and 'bitch' lol. There convo would last a few more messages and I enjoyed it. If you like sass and bizarre-ness, you might too.
"I guess this removes the possibility of Hancock being Luffy's mother." So I guess that was a thing. This dive into the archives, so to speak, has been interesting. Thank god for ctrl F. go-da, god-a. And thankfully Ace is only referred to as Ace not like Blackbeard/BB, Whitebeard/WB or Boa/Hancock.
Chapter 523, Garp visits Ace
"Ace isn't gonna die... Accept it. People in One Piece don't die, they get beaten in battle. You would think that after 523 chapters you wouldn't keep thinking that someone will"
Ace being objectified and some speech the far left gonna be pissed at lol "I love the part were Sanji gets chased by homosexuals LOLOLOLOLOL that made my day talk about irony and Ace... I am going to beat up some one how could they do that to him, but he does look hot even when he's covered in blood"
Lol. Never thought there were fans that wanted Hancock vs. Alvida!
"Boacock is a bitch"
Chapter 524 Garp visits Ace continued
"nobody is going to die, that one thing i can assure you"
"Now that we know the war is going down and we will witness it with (most of?) our crew present and that this is the 'big event' hinted at back at the climax of Blackbeard and Ace's battle, I'm officially pulling my hat from the 'Ace will die' ring and casting it into the 'Whitebeard will die' ring."
"I can't see [Hancock] or Ace dying, though. Probably not gonna happen"
Augh. Whitebeard getting stabbed in the back was the worst and this guy kinda predicted it. "When it gets to the zenith of this war it's revealed that a Whitebeard pirate lets say Marco or somebody else trusted on Whitebeard's crew is a traitor... So when it gets down to the final fights, whoever Whitebeard is fighting (Blackbeard or an admiral) in front of some other shichi, marines, maybe Shanks, Luffy, and especially Ace... the traitor (literally) stabs Whitebeard in the back and he either dies or is defeated. Thus, ending the war." fucking Squard!!!
Chapter 525, Garp visits Ace continued more
"I don't think either Whitebeard or Ace will die, but I'm hoping Whitebeard gets dethroned but at the same time, the World Government loses the war."
Theory on how Buggy will help "Buggy is just an idiot who will in random happenstance help the situation."
Passionate fan 2 predictions:
Oda has been building this war for many chapters now, he's not going to stop it all of a sudden. Like it or not we're going to see some action involving Whitebeard and the World Government. When Oda bothers to actually set something up, he's not going to just all of a sudden do away with it. He's been building and building... why don't people see this??? Of course the conflict will resolve in a way we can't foresee... since Oda is a genius he's probably got some surprises ahead... but definitely no cheap easy conclusion with zero action. Sure, Luffy and Garp will just go talk to Sengoku and he'll let Ace go and it'll all work out... seriously guys.. seriously!!!
In my opinion Hancock love sickness is in a similar category. Oda has set up this relationship with Luffy, so that she has a valid reason to leave Amazon Lilly and sail around the world with Luffy... Oda isn't going to all of a sudden kill off Hancock or have her be miraculously "healed" and she just returns to Lilly... like a lot of Anti-Hanock people want, might as well pray that Margret shows up out of nowhere and all of a sudden joins the SH crew... foolish Anti-Hancockers.... completely ignores what Oda is trying to set up....
*Hancock joining is almost tooooo predictable at this point.. if you're still in denial... I'm going to call you stubborn...
MagneticMonkey's Seventeen Theses (A list of grievances):
How did Buggy escape from his cell?
How did The Marines catch Buggy?
How did Buggy manage to come this far?
How do The Marines protect Impel Down from Sea Kings (and the battleships that are anchored at Impel Down)
What is haki. What can haki really do?
What is Luffy's plan to save Ace. Did he manage to become stronger since the last haki burst?
What will the other Straw Hat's learn from where they are now?
How will they meet Luffy again?
What are The Marines' strategy to take down Whitebeard? (now I don't see any strategy at all. They are blind and scared)
What will Garp do? (That would be a waste of manga pages if he just sat there to chit-chat about nothing serious)
Does Whitebeard have a special division or is Marco the first mate?
What will The Shichibukai do in this war? (especially Mihawk and Blackbeard)
Who is Kuma? What did he say to Rayleigh? Does he work with Dragon?
Will Hancock die in this war? This lovesickness and her quick changes are weird... Oda needs to do something about it.
Where is Rayleigh?
Jimbei's connections to Fisher Tiger (if any)
What happened to the other Supernovas? (especially Law and Kidd)
Chapter 550, Ace is revealed to be Gol D. Roger's son
"Now there's less of a chance that Dragon will come. So who will assist the Whitebeard Pirates? Cause I can't see them winning as things go (I actually thought that a Marine Admiral was almost equal in power to Whitebeard). But I'm confident Ace will survive... I can't see Luffy letting anything else happen... Now we know that Garp took care of Ace for Roger, who's wish was for Ace to live happily (which lessens the possibility of him dying)."
Decent prediction "I think that Marines will kill Ace just before Luffy get in with his co. After this Luffy freaked out and start to rage. Total mental break down."
Chapter 573 one chapter before Ace officially dying
response to "he's definitely dead":
Uhm HELL NO. The last thing we'll need is Luffy turning into a darker version who's driven by hatred and revenge. That goes against EVERYTHING One Piece stands for.
"What?! NO!!! That just can't happen. You can't go about saving someone, and then have them die at the end nonetheless. That doesn't just make it pointless, that robs everyone who's been sitting at the edge of their seat, biting their nails, over this whole thing."
"One thing I think people are forgetting. Okama Queen (forget her/his name) is there. If anyone can heal Ace it would be her. So assuming Ace makes out of this alive, they'll have to pick him up quickly and start their escape so Okama Queen can start doing her healing. I assume an injection of hormones would help slow the death while they make their escape before Ace gets healed."
"I don't think Ace is going to die, he's probably going to be saved by Ivankov." quite a few Ivankov will save Ace comments
"LOL ! And you really think Ace can die ? Oda never killed one guy ... XD"
"Ya he won't die."
"NO! ACE CANNOT DIE!! (and probably won't)"
"There's no way a character like Ace's going to die."
"I don't think Ace died... And he's also a very important character (though this isn't a very good argument)."
Just a cool outlook I never thought of "What would be interesting is, Ace to be the first character to be killed present time in the series. We were introduced with [Roger Pirate King] dying; his son [Ace being] the first to die in present time would be ironic."
"i think the pirates who were at Sabaody will come help them out..." someones response "lmao" THIS GUY WAS KINDA RIGHT! with Law saving Luffy and Jinbei
"I know ppl are saying that the series will still progress even if ace dies, but will this manga still have its old potential value? i mean come on, ace dies, and that's beyond bloody awful! no doubt people will not see one piece as that great of a manga anymore and some ppl might just drop it as a whole! (damn i hope ace doesn't die)"
someones response "people dropping manga cause a character died ? they must be retarded.."
Just a good prediction that for the most part was true "Here is a good idea. Blackbeard gave Ace to The Marines in order to become a Shichibukai and now Ace is at Impel Down. So Luffy will hear and go destroy the place to save him maybe he will be joined by Whitebeard and his captains and also at Impel Down Crocodile is held. That would be really great."
anime filler please.
Lol Oda introduced a new character, Charlotte Flambe/Flampe.
She’s 15 years old
Granville and Smithe, 1959 by Fred Herzog
What I think about the next crew member. Jinbe and Carrot (chapter 890 spoilers)
When I consider the roles of the Straw Hat they all had something essential-ish to contribute after the original pre-grandline crew. Chopper as doctor. Franky as shipwright are both essential. With Robin her ability to read the Poneglyphs were very important for the overall story and I felt a much needed 2nd woman of the crew. Brook fulfilled the role of musician that Luffy had literally been talking about since it was just him and Zoro.
So, I still need to see more from Carrot. Jinbe obviously makes a lot of sense and like Brook and Franky can be seen from a mile away. IF Carrot does join I am hoping Oda will break pattern and make it so that Carrot and Jinbe officially join at the same time. I would say I'm a decently big Carrot fan. I like her design, I like her personality, I like how she fought Zoro briefly and got on the ship uninvited. Su Long is pretty cool, some sort of moon projection thing seems possible from Franky's end and if the Mink Tribe is fully on Luffy's side when war comes, a Mink Tribe army full of Su Long transformation would be quite the sight to behold.
But, I just don't think there's enough reason for Carrot to join other than "that'd be cool".
I do think as the story winds down, new crew members will not need as deep of a connection with Luffy, but right now we are still in this mid-game ish stage. But who knows what the future holds. We are still probably a good 40-50 chapters away from Wano.
looks like Hina and Smoker out for a night in the town
Dan Dan looking good lol
:’) bromance
whorowhorowhoro so evil lol
chapter 524. damn you anime filler why can’t you just give us some random perona storylines not that episode 780 shit with that Grount guy
