My headcanon on how Usagi’s iconic odango hair became a regular thing:
When Usagi was a young child, she wasn’t the tidiest of kids, given her ADHD and all, often forgetting to brush her hair. Thus, her long hair frequently became matted and tangled, yet she refused to cut her hair, throwing tantrums whenever her parents tried to take her to the hairdressers.
Finally, sometime around the age of 5, Usagi’s hair reached a point beyond repair, and her parents didn’t have a choice but to take her in for her first haircut, despite her crying and screaming. And her hair was cut SHORT. Think Ami’s length.
Since then, she promised her parents that she would keep her hair in good condition so it would never have to be cut short again. Once her hair got longer, she started wearing it in the odango style to keep it out of her face and maintain the regular habit of brushing her hair daily.
