I have never seen an apt. like Valentine’s. I don’t even know what to call it- is it Goth? Anyway, Valentine says she’s livin’ the dream.
She left a journalism career to open a bar called “Elvis and I,” as a tribute to her favorite singer.
Her dark little apartment, as she describes it, is a temple of self-expression that connects death, kitsch and Christianity and wraps them in dark Gothic packaging.
Skulls and skeletons have always fascinated her and she collects them. She also has some cool thrift shop pieces of furniture.
The kitchen has interesting cabinets- they look like spray-painted mid-century modern. I’ve never seen a kitchen like this.
Valentine stores not only death in the apartment, but also a considerable amount of clothing and shoes. She loves clothes and collects them, too.
Her bedroom has a zebra motif and is filled with lots of bizarre things.
I wonder where she finds some of this stuff.
And, finally, the bathroom. I could never understand why some people put religious things in the bathroom.
