White Ferns Take Over the Rankings
Stop scrolling. New Zealand women’s cricket is on fire. The White Ferns kicked off their home season with a statement 80 run win over South Africa at Mount Maunganui and the ICC Women’s Player Rankings are now showing the impact. The team is climbing, shining, and proving why they are a force in T20I and ODI cricket.
Melie Kerr led the charge with a blistering 78 earning Player of the Match. Control, aggression, and timing all in one innings. Georgia Plimmer is also on the rise, moving nine places to 41st in T20I batting after a fluent 63. Maddy Green is climbing the ODI rankings too, hitting 17th. These performances show New Zealand’s top order is confident, composed, and dangerous.
It is not just the batters. Bowlers and all rounders are making waves too. Jess Kerr jumped eleven spots to 23rd in T20I bowling, striking at key moments. Sophie Devine climbed six places to 11th in T20I all rounders with a four wicket haul. Rosemary Mair and Bree Illing also improved their ODI rankings, keeping Zimbabwe on the back foot during the series.
The clean sweep against Zimbabwe was the cherry on top. Three wins in three ODIs reinforced New Zealand’s dominance and depth. Isabella Gaze climbed three spots to 61st in the ODI batter rankings proving the younger players are stepping up when it matters.
Even Zimbabwe had a standout. Nomvelo Sibanda climbed eight places to 49th in ODI bowling after a determined series against a tough White Ferns lineup. Progress for both sides, drama on the field, rankings on the rise.
