Sehun; Temporary Dream
✉ Could you write a scenario with Sehun based off the Cinderella story? And would you mind making it a little angsty? Sorry for being so vague about the request but I don't know a better way to phrase it. If it's too vague let me know and I'll try harder to make it clearer :) thank you so much ❝I really liked how this went! At first, I was a bit unsure but as I got into it, I find myself liking it! I HOPE YOU LIKE IT BBY! :* ►2519 words, scenario | fluff, slight angst
Even with your mask on, you knew exactly who you were looking at. Ah, today was the famous masquerade ball – theone everyone anticipates for, the one everyone hopes they’d be able to find their one true love as if it’s like the one in the movies. It just doesn’t work that way, it doesn’t and it never will; for you, at least. It was safe to say that you were away from the crowd, by the corner of the room where you kept your mask in place, watching everyone else have the time of their lives when really, you were wondering if they really enjoyed themselves or if they were putting on a show for the sake of the community club who spent so much time and effort in making this night possible.
But you gotta hand it to them – they made this gymnasium place look incredible.
A chandelier hanging above everyone as colorful lights splattered around, floating helium balloons above and a killer sound system that played some of the best songs of all time as it echoed in the whole room, drowning everyone and their voice. It wasn’t about the looks today – it was about what was inside especially when you can’t see or tell who you were roughly talking to.
Up until now, you were doing a good job, a perfect job at staying hidden despite your friend’s intention of coming here in the first place. She had managed to drag you out of your home, saying that you needed to attend this ball at least once in your life. It’s the final and last one before you’d move on to college, just come, will you? Yeah, with the dress and mask she had bought for you and miraculously it fitted just too damned well? You had no choice but to go.
You had no valid reason to turn her down so… instead of leaving her money and efforts to waste, you ended up pampering yourself to go to the saloon, getting your hair done and your friend had insisted you did your nails as well.
Wow, some treatment that was. You even joked with her, asking if she won a lottery to be spending this much for one day – one night, actually.
Shut up, I’m paying so you just sit still and look pretty, okay?
And of course, you had to say, I have no objections with that.
So here you were, sitting at the side where you glanced around to see that everyone danced around and you even spotted your friend in her black mask – in contrast with your white mask. With a small smile, you saw how she managed to catch your gaze from afar. She slowed down her dancing with her partner in front of her, which was someone she adored for so long by the way, kudos to her for finally having this moment, just to look at you, mouthing the words specifically, “Find him.”
You straightened your back and shook your head, “I’m fine here.”
You swore you saw that curse in her eyes, “Please? You look beautiful – find him.”
You shook your head and waved a hand, “Enjoy yourself, alright? I’ll be fine.”
Then you gazed to her partner, “Treat her well.”
And with a warm smile he replied with, he swooped her in his arms, swaying her away with a protest stuck in her throat as she was brought to the other side of the dance floor. With a stifled snicker, you placed a hand over your mouth before reaching to sip on the beverage you had – orange juice with a mix of Sprite? Yeah, they were keeping it old school here.
Once you set your drink down, you looked up and casted around the whole area, only this time, it was different.
You noticed how your eyes settled on a pair of eyes across your table and in the sea of people blocking, you were somehow shocked that you were able to catch someone staring at your way. In the midst of your staring competition, you swore there was a kick in your lower gut, twisting in nervousness when you analyzed the person you were staring at.
A slender jawline and that slightly silver hair pushed back. A distinctive black mask on that matched well with the fitting tuxedo he had on, red bowtie to match it off and a killer smile…
That was Sehun.
Without a doubt, without a single objection – it was him.
You swallowed the lump in your throat and your eyes widened at the size of saucers just keeping locked eyes at him. What he did made your stomach churn in delight, sending the shivers down your spine when he lifted his hand up to wave at you.
Now, at this moment, you were sure he was waving at you but just to make sure, you carefully yet ever so gently looked to your left and right, over your shoulders and behind you only to see that there was only a wall and no one else by your way. When your head faced forward to look at him once more, you weakly lifted your hand up, using your index finger to direct it to your own face, “M-Me?” Your voice inaudible, but he could read the words from your lips.
With a smirk, one that could easily steal your breath away, he nodded.
“Dance floor – I’ll find you.” He mouthed the words, his eyes already pointing to the designated area he mentioned.
You shook your head almost too hurriedly, unable to object when you took another blink to see he was already gone. You instinctively shot up from your seat, blinking rapidly at the flood of people here that you could barely see Sehun in there – how the hell is he going to find me?!
Sighing and lifting your dress up a bit, maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to wear white but at least you wouldn’t need to worry about sleeves when this was a sleeveless dress. You quickened your pace but slowed down when you finally entered the dancefloor, fighting your way through as you brushed past people dancing and muttered a string of ‘excuse me’ as you stepped through, needing to just find that black mask you memorized earlier in two minutes flat.
However, you were left in the crowd of people, you started to get lightheaded as you spun around, trying to find him. You felt your breathing getting shallower as the seconds went by, Sehun wasn’t here at all and somehow you got the thought that maybe he was just messing around, seeing if you’d actually go in.
When you were about to leave, trying to find your way out—
“Told you I’d find you,” A voice, Sehun spoke as his hands naturally landed on your shoulders.
You flinched, feeling your body tremble as you turned around delicately, locking gazes once more but much closer than before. No barrier, nothing that could come between you two as he stared down on you. With a warm smile, he held his hands facing up in front of you, making you glance down with confusion written on your eyes. Your eyes travelled back up to his and all you could see was the genuine warmth in his eyes, the sweet aura he had radiating around him, “Dance with me.” His voice came out in a soft whisper and it partially got you to thinking how on earth you heard him in the noisy room. But when you stared into his eyes long enough, you could slowly feel yourself getting lost in them as you could see part of your reflection as well.
"I'm really bad," You mumbled softly, a blush painting across your cheeks and Sehun swore you were just too pretty to deny, "I'll lead you."
Finding that his words weren't too hard to believe, it was hard to actually resist. Slowly, your hands reached to hover above his and then landing in his hands. He gave you a smile before guiding your hands to place them around his neck as his hands smoothened onto your waist with ease. It was too surreal and you just knew that this could be too good to be true. You’d want this to last forever, finally having a chance to dance with Oh Sehun but a part of you reminded you that this night… it was temporary.
Once your mask was off, that would indicate the night was over and you knew this would never happen again.
But screw it—maybe it’s good to let loose once in a while.
Yeah, tonight—just one night couldn’t hurt.
“And what may your name be, beautiful?” He asked softly, his forehead leaning against yours as he wanted to get a closer look at your sparkling eyes. You swallowed once more, wondering how many times you’ve done that out of the anxiety biting you but you’ve managed to whisper back, your voice echoing into his ears in a sweet, melodious trance, “It’s best you didn’t know, Sehun.”
His eyebrows rose, amused, “You know my name but I don’t know yours?” He made you twirl, extending his arm out before rolling you back into his embrace, holding you in with your back pressed against his chest as he hovered his head over your shoulder to get a proper look into your eyes, “That’s not too fair, now is it?”
“Maybe we could stop—“
“No no no,” He sputtered out almost too quickly, twisting you around in his arms so he could face you, his arms locked around your waist as you naturally placed your arms around his neck. He drew himself closer, leaning down to whisper, “If anything, we’re just getting started, princess.”
With a cocked eyebrow, it was your turn to chuckle, “Princess?”
He grinned with a nod, “That’s what you are, to me.”
--
“So tell me, princess,” He spoke, his hand intertwined with yours as the both of you strolled down the path of the school’s garden—no one was out here and it was perfect, too perfect, you thought. But like you promised yourself, it was just for one night—one night and it’ll all be over so… it’s best to make out of what you’ve had for this evening.
“Why won’t you tell me your name?” He asked curiously, his eyes trying to get a glimpse of yours as he stared at your side profile and he thought—God, even staring at her side is beautiful… he could only imagine staring directly at your beauty.
You shook your head with a chuckle, bittersweet yet pained as you spared him a glance, “It’s just better if you didn’t know my name.”
He found it unfair, he truly did.
Why couldn’t he know your name?
“But you know my name—that’s unfair.”
You shrugged, looking to the fairy lights lighting up the pathway, hovering above the both of you as you walked through the greenery, “Life isn’t fair.”
“Going through a tough time?” Sehun found himself immersed in you, he found himself wanting to find out everything about you—every little detail, everything that was related to you-anything at all. He found himself becoming more curious than usual and he wanted to explore your mind, wanting to find out what was hidden in your heart, what lies underneath – all.
“Oh yeah,” You breathed out, another laugh leaving your lips and he could just tell; it wasn’t a happy one. “You don’t even know,” You sighed, gazing down to your shoes where on one side of your ankle, you could easily see the beeper on your ankle—that’s why this all felt so surreal.
It was just a temporary dream.
“Then tell me,” He whispered softly, halting the both of you as he made you face him with the tugging of his wrists. His hands gently placed on your shoulders, making you look up to him as he stared into your eyes. He shook his head in disappointment – as if he was disappointed in himself, “I… I don’t know how I’ve never met you before but… let me see who you are, let me know who you are…”
One hand inched up to your mask, “Let me into your life.”
Yet, before he could do so, he was drowned in your eyes, into your beauty that he stopped to breathe out, “Why have I never seen you before?”
Your eyes looked away from him, muttering softly, “I was here the whole time,” Your eyes slowly moved back up, secured on his once more, “You just never took the time to look,”
He licked his lips nervously, his hand trembling on your skin and despite the warmth and the incredibly good sensation you were able to feel, you knew this wasn’t going to last long.
Whenever something good happened in your life, something bad would always happen. That’s what was going to happen tonight, you just knew it. The great conversations, the minor laughter, the silent smiles, gentle touches and whispered promises. Secretive comments and exposed feelings towards one another. Words of I think tonight is the one night I’d never forget and I think I’ll never forget you, either.
This was all too good to be true.
And you just knew—
“W-What’s that?” Sehun muttered under his breath, his ears taking in the sounds of harsh beeping, rapidly sounding from your ankle with red lights lighting up after a few seconds once. “T-That’s my cue to leave,” Your heart sunk, your words laced with sorrow, an apologetic frown on your lips as you looked at Sehun’s handsome face one last time, “I’m sorry.”
He shook his head too quickly when you brushed his hand off your face and he was quick to hold onto your arm, firmly trying to get you to stay, “W-What? No! I need more time with you—!”
“Didn’t you hear the beeping?!” Another voice spoke loudly from behind you two and as you looked over Sehun’s shoulder, you could see your friend running towards you with her partner chasing after her behind – he was your ride home, after all. She gripped onto your hand, snatching you away from Sehun, “We have to go! They’re on their way home now!”
And as you were dragged away, leaving nothing but memories behind for Sehun to recall back once more when he’d lie in bed, he tried to reach for you as you were leaving, his hands extending out, “Wait!”
“I’m sorry!” You shouted, finding that your best friend was much faster, dragging you away and you found yourself lifting your dress up, running as you noticed how in the middle of running, it’s like something fell off but you couldn’t exactly find out what that was. That’s when you noticed when you got into the car, seatbelt fastened with your heart sinking, your hands reached up to your face, “My mask fell!”
--
Sehun picked up the white piece on the floor, his hands brushing on the sequins before his heart whispered I didn’t even get to know her name.

“I’m horrible at this!” Sehun cried, shaking his head as you held onto his hands, “Stop whining! You’ll be fine!” You assured him, pressing his hands on your back as you were in front. The both of you had decided to go ice skating and much to Sehun’s dismay, he’s terrible at it. He’s never liked ice skating simply because… he’s bad at it. He does like watching you ice skate because he sees that you look so happy and free but whenever he tries to do that… it doesn’t end up the way he wants it to be. He’d end up falling to the ice, he’d get wet, he’d be cold and he would get hurt – all of the things he didn’t like.
But when you come and persuade him… it’s another whole story.
-“C’mon… please?” You begged, clasping your hands together as you kneeled down before you while he sat on the sofa. He had his arm behind his head, attempting to overlook you to stare at the television, “No.”
You inched up higher despite kneeling down, trying to block his view. He hated how cute you looked with those puppy eyes. He hated how that pout of yours with your hands clasped together under your chin made you look like a helpless, lost cat. He hated how you could easily win his heart with just the cuteness you had. He hated it.
“Please?”
He closed his eyes and sunk his back deeper into the sofa, using another hand to switch the television off with the remote control before mindlessly tossing it aside, “You know I’m bad at it.”
You unclasped your hands and stood up, giving up on wanting to persuade him. “It’s okay, then.”
He moved his arm away from his eyes and he was partly shocked because he was sure you would continue persuading him until he would agree. Why were you not trying as hard as you would, usually? His eyes widened slightly when you gave him a small smile, “I’ll go by myself.”
Sincerely, you were going to go on your own because heck, you didn’t want to force him anymore. He would grumble all over and say how horrible the experience was despite the fact he could be enjoying it too. So to prevent any of that from happening, you’d rather go on your own and enjoy it if he wasn’t willing to join. Maybe you could call other friends, too. They knew you loved ice skating and they wouldn’t hesitate to join you, too.
Before you could walk away, he reluctantly reached for your hand, giving you a tight squeeze that made you look over your shoulder. You tilted your head in confusion, about to ask him what was going on but he gave you a light tug until you landed on his lap. His long arms snaked around your waist and almost immediately his face buried in your neck, “You know I can’t let you go alone…”
You nodded even though he wasn’t looking, ‘Yes I can. I’ll be careful and I could call some friends-“
His sigh cut you off as he planted a kiss on your skin, making you flinch but in the next, you relaxed against his chest. His grip tightened around you as he brushed his nose on your skin, “I’ll go. Okay? I’ll go.”—
“You don’t necessarily have to do much! Just follow me!” You laughed, glancing over your shoulder where you could see him struggling but surely, he was trying. You were already going so slow on your pace and he was trying his absolute best to keep up with you. “B-Buttercup?” He called out shakily, his hands gripping onto yours tight.
“Hm?” You hummed back in response, not taking note of his shaky state.
“I-I’m stuck!”
Your eyes widened as you looked over your shoulder, noticing how he couldn’t move his legs, “What do you mean you’re ‘stuck’?”
“I-I can’t move! I can’t!”
You frowned, attempting to let go of his hands to turn around but that caused another whole ruckus, “Don’t let go!”
“I just need to turn around!” You assured him and loosely let go of his hands to quickly spin around before you had his hands in yours again. “Move your feet, Sehun! You’re not stuck!”
He shook his head, “Y-Yes I am! I don’t know how to move them!”
You gave him a weird look and he caught that, “I know what you’re thinking!” He managed to give you a look in which he knew what you were thinking. It’s impossible to get stuck, really, it is. But it seems like he ‘feels’ that he’s stuck.
“Sehun, it’s really not that hard,” You explained and you held his hands together tightly, “I’ll try to pull you, okay?”
He nodded hurriedly, and you gave it a shot.
However, when you tried to give him a light tug, it gradually increased from soft to harsh as you found it impossible to pull him because he really seemed like he was stuck. When you gave another attempt to pull him, his hands slipped from yours and you practically fell backwards on your bum. You let out a gasp and you blinked at him as you weren’t expecting this.
Him, on the other hand, couldn’t stop laughing.
His eyes had this eye smile but you couldn’t appreciate it.
He was faking it.
“Sehun! You little liar!”
He grinned at you and lingered his hand in front of you because his feet could move freely – he was sure you caught that. “Sorry, buttercup. I just had to. You were too perfect on your own so I thought I’d help.”
You narrowed your eyes at him before reaching for his hand. You swore you could laugh based on how his face changed when you yanked him down and in the next, the both of you were lying down on the cold ice with you being on the bottom. His hands were both at the side of your head where he hover his face above yours.
There was this moment for a quiet laughter – it was blissful.
“Was it worth it?” You grunted as he shifted his weight on you, his hands still at the side of your head as your hands rested on his shoulders. “What was?” He asked, playing coy as he pressed his forehead on yours. He couldn’t help but chuckle lightly at the way you rolled your eyes at him but in the next he was already leaning down with his lips brushing on yours, “Definitely worth it.”
