Oedip (Oedipus) a fost un erou tragic din mitologia grecească, un rege osândit unui destin groaznic întrucât, fără a ști asta, și-a ucis tatăl și s-a căsătorit cu propria sa mama. Povestea sa este a cuiva care, deoarece nu-și cunoaște adevărata identitate, urmează o cale greșită din viață.

The Taxi Driver star, who has preserved his late father’s studio residence (“When I thought I was going to have to let it go, three or four years ago, I videotaped it and had photos taken and documented everything. But then I said, ‘I just can’t do it,’” he said of the SoHo loft), admitted that his father was likely conflicted about his sexuality.

“I was not aware, much, of it,” De Niro said. “I wish we had spoken about it much more. My mother didn’t want to talk about things in general, and you’re not interested when you’re a certain age. Again, for my kids, I want them to stop and take a moment and realize that you sometimes have to do things now instead of later, because later may be 20 years from now — and that’s too late.”

The actor also denied that he had never portrayed a gay character onscreen because of his father, saying the right role had simply never come along. “If they had been offered to me by a good director, that’s something I would have considered,” he said.”

Great Expectations, Analyze This & Being Flynn make much more sense now..
