Day 6: Beach [+Team]
She hadn't expected it to be this hot. Even the umbrella Cyborg had put up to give them some shade was of little use, stretched out as Raven was under the towel. Some ways away, Raven watched the four figures of her friends jumping in the surf, Starfire's high-pitched squeal filled with joy every time the wave crashed at her feet. Robin had swam out farther than the others, only to come crashing back as he body-surfed on the waves that brought him back to shore. Cyborg was standing closest to the shore, his mass too great to support with swimming, but Starfire had thoughtfully provided him with a floatation raft that looked more like an excuse for Cyborg to hold onto something hot pink than anything else. And Beast Boy's green skin could be seen as he bobbed in and out of the water, first a fish, then a dolphin, then a seagull, then back again, enjoying himself in every form he could.
The book that Raven had brought along had already gotten some sand in the crack, but the occasional wind that ruffled the long material around her waist was too welcome for her to begrudge the effects. She'd propped herself up on her elbows, watching her team and her book through heavily tinted sunglasses with her hair tied up off her face, a few violet tendrils making their way down her neck.
Glancing up from her book as she sensed someone approaching, she lowered her glasses to meet Boy Wonder's gaze as he picked up a towel close to her to rub at his hair. He offered her a smile as he wrapped the towel around his neck, placing his free hands on his hips before raising an eyebrow at his friend. "You going to stay here all day?"
"Someone needs to make sure we don't get a call." Raven's deadpan tone was directed to the communicator that sat a few feet to her side, but she sensed the withering look Robin gave her now would be far worse than any sunburn she'd risk by venturing beyond the umbrella.
"It's a beach day, you're supposed to enjoy yourself."
"I am."
"Not well enough!" Cyborg's voice boomed from behind Robin, and a streak of orange skin and red hair quickly joined Robin and Raven.
"Come, Raven! We are all having such fun in the ocean!"
"I'll pass."
"Aw, c'mon! I'll race you to the harbour, and I'll even stay human!!" Beast Boy's cajoles had added to the stack, and Raven couldn't miss the smirk on Robin's face next to Starfire's pleading expression.
With a sigh that could have blown down a house, Raven allowed herself to be pulled to her feet by the Tamaranean, Robin backing up to get out of the way for Starfire to pull her friend towards the water. But it was the raft that was Raven's goal, and as soon as she could, she lifted her bare feet from the sand and sat in the middle of the warmed rubber.
"If any of you gets me wet, you'll regret it."
Naturally, it was only a matter of time.
