Is it a dis- or an ad-vantage to take someone to bed when you’re sober and they’re drunk enough to make bad choices? If he can remember every detail and she’s going to wake up a little bit disoriented and a lot bit full of regret, maybe it isn’t worth pursuing.

                                                              ‘LOOK, I UNDERSTAND what we agreed on. I get it.’ He sighs in frustration, eyes rolling from the ceiling of the canvas tent to the dirt they call a floor and catching sight of everything in between but somehow managing to avoid her gaze. A hand drifts up to rub the back of his neck while the other finds a place on his hip, and he stands there for a moment THINKING of the best way to make this as quick and painless as possible. 

     ‘Here’s the deal - you tagging along was fine when we didn’t have DEATH TRAPS to worry about. I’m gonna be worried about getting me out of there. And the others’ll be worrying about themselves, too. I don’t have the time or the energy to keep an eye on you,’ he explains, with what he hopes is a firm enough tone. If he had it his way, he’d be doing this by himself, maybe with one other person who happened to be experienced. ‘Sorry, but you can’t come along tomorrow. You just can’t.’
