For starters, finding Ku Shen was a bit harder than anticipated. Yanfei searched around Liyue Harbor for at least half an hour before spotting her newly found friend, calling his name from afar. She figured it would be best to get his attention before overwhelming him with her enthusiastic presence- it couldn't be help, the young woman had bounds of energy. The warning was needed considering she was quite literally jumping in front of him within seconds of calling out.
"Ku Shen! I have a surprise for you! It's Yanfei by the way! Are you busy right now? Probably not- anyway, hold out your hand for me. I promise it's nothing to be afraid of, I made you a gift!" She explained while impatiently waiting for him to offer his hand, giving it a moment before placing a string of jade beads into his palm. There was very little time to even process what was given before Yanfei had begun to explain them excitedly.
"So I did a little research on this one. Jade represents several values such as nobility, bravery, wisdom, luck; immortality. Figured I should give you something since you're someone I look up to now... I'm unsure if you're one for jewelry, but you can also tie it around your spear if that's more comfortable for you? Or hell, you could get rid of it if you wanted-- But wait until I leave if you do!"
Trying to adjust to a somewhat more modern life was certainly a task and a half. There was not just the struggle after all of remembering how to communicate with the humans-- But also the mere struggle of tying to get used to the... well... everything else going on around him at the same time. Beyond the deaths and disappearances of loved ones, of course, for that was a whole other beast he could not for the moment hope to begin taming-- No, he meant far more the overwhelming variety of sounds and smells that assaulted him the moment he came close to the habor.
How was he supposed to listen to Zhongli prattle on when there were four different storyteller on the street alone, the clinking of dozens of cups, the scrape of a chair, shop keepers peddling wares, citizens passing by with their day-to-day conversations, the sound of the ocean waves never far from mind? To a man who’d spent the past 1800 years in the quiet confines of an utterly peaceful and human-less forest, surrounded by little more than the smell of rain and grass, the harbor was... a bit difficult.
And so the weasel-- Or man, in this case-- had taken to lingering at the outskirts of the city. Trying to ease himself into the place further and further without necessary reason. And so that is where Yanfei finds him-- Laying upon a stone ( seemingly ) without a care in the world. In hearing her call his name dose he open his eyes, sitting up and gazing off in her direction. A voice he recognizes... ah, but putting a name to these things is always a dangerous game. The embarrassment of using the wrong name, after all, would surely haunt him-- and so within the first sentence is he already picking things apart, trying to use the context clues, and--
.... Yanfei! Ah. The tension falls immediately, replaced by a genuinely relaxed smile on the adepti’s face. “Don’t worry, kid, I’m not busy. Not a whole lot of responsibilities for a hermit like me to tend to,” he chirps quickly, offering out his hand to accept this gift, immediately taking to trying to figure out what it is by feel alone-- some sort of beads? They were smooth and cool...
Ears prick up as the girl begins to explain, curiosity replaced with a momentary expression of surprise. Noble, brave, wise... “You think far too highly of me!” he quips, joking with a little laugh. Nonetheless, the gift is one he appreciations-- adores, even, though Ku Shen would hardly ever use such extravagant words for his own feelings. “Glad you thought of me, though,” he admits in affectionate tone, holding the beads firmly in hand. Get rid of them? Never. Congrats Yanfei, your gift has now taken the top spot for most emotionally valuable item he owns! ...Not that he owns a lot of items, but the point still stands!
Pushing himself up and off the rock, Ku Shen takes a moment to stretch out his sore muscles-- before casting another smile in Yanfeis general direction.
“You got the time for a little walk around the harbor?”
