Waiting for AI to Take My Job
Today, I had three meetings. One of them was for a digital transformation project focused on using AI.
AI has made many things more convenient. Yet, since many people at my company still don’t know how to use it well, new tasks have appeared—like organizing systems and workflows so everyone can actually use AI tools.
Thanks to AI, my workload hasn’t decreased at all. If anything, it has increased.
Honestly, I wish AI would hurry up and take my job and do it for me. Then I could spend the extra time drinking coffee and reading books at a leisurely pace.
Better yet, I’d love it if AI could hang my laundry, sort the trash, and even do the ironing.
I hope that day comes soon.
Anyway, good work this week.
Data Entry: Why It Remains One of the Most Essential Skills in the Digital Age
In today’s information-driven world, Data Entry remains a fundamental pillar behind smooth business operations. Whether it’s a small online shop or a global enterprise, every organization relies on accurate and well-organized data to make informed decisions. Although technology continues to advance at lightning speed, the demand for skilled data entry professionals has never been stronger.
What Is Data Entry?
Data entry is the process of collecting, inputting, updating, and managing information in digital systems. This can include everything from customer records and financial logs to inventory lists and research databases. It may seem straightforward, but it requires precision, consistency, and strong attention to detail.
Why Data Entry Matters
Even the most advanced analytics tools or AI systems are only as good as the data they receive. Inaccurate or incomplete data can lead to flawed reports, poor decisions, and operational inefficiencies.
Businesses depend on reliable data entry to:
Maintain clean databases
Track performance and financial records
Improve customer experience
Optimize marketing and sales strategies
Ensure regulatory compliance
Simply put, without strong data entry practices, entire workflows can collapse.
Key Skills Required for Data Entry
A professional in this field typically demonstrates a blend of speed and accuracy. The most valuable skills include:
Fast Typing Speed with minimal errors
Attention to Detail to prevent mistakes
Technical Knowledge of software like Excel, Google Sheets, CRMs, and ERP systems
Time Management for handling large volumes of data
Confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information
These skills ensure efficiency and help maintain the integrity of business data.
The Role of Data Entry in Modern Businesses
Data entry professionals play a crucial role in shaping the information structure of an organization. Their work helps companies:
Make better strategic decisions
Streamline operations
Automate processes
Understand customer behavior
Improve accuracy across departments
While automation tools assist with repetitive tasks, human oversight remains essential. Machines can process data quickly, but humans ensure the data is meaningful, correct, and logically structured.
The Future of Data Entry
Despite technological advancements, data entry will continue to be a high-demand skill. As businesses handle more digital information than ever before, the need for accurate data input grows. Future roles may involve hybrid tasks such as data validation, data cleansing, and database management—areas where human judgement is key.
Final Thoughts
Data entry forms the foundation of every successful business. It supports decision-making, enhances productivity, and ensures the accuracy of critical information. As long as data exists—and it always will—data entry will remain a vital professional skill.

No more home-working humbug
I’ve always been a total humbug about going into work. “There has to be a purpose.” I’ve said, on more than one occasion: like an All Hands or a workshop or a meeting. Something ‘big.’I was wrong.Last week was high pressure. I went into Paddington ready to be super stressed out but I went home having made three new friends and connected with colleagues I don’t see often enough.A problem shared is…
