How dreams are broken.

{ A long time ago, there existed a tree in a quiet world. The tree had two kinds of fruits. Black ones and golden ones. }

{ The black ones represented the negative emotions. Sadness, anger, hate, fear, ect. While the golden ones represented the positive emotions. Happiness, hope, joy, ect. }

{ The tree was guarded by two small skeletons. Two brothers, named Dream and Nightmare. } 

{ The land lived in harmony and everything seemed fine. }

{ . . .However. No apple can stay shiny forever. }

{ The guardian of the negative fruits, Nightmare, was not treated fairly by the villagers of the town around the tree. He was abused by them for his job. The job the negative guardian did not like. }

{ In time, the guardian of positivity, Nightmare's brother, Dream, noticed the behavior of the villagers towards his brother. While he was smiling and playing around with them the rest he didn't pay attention to went behind his back and hurt his dear brother. }

{ Dream, the guardian who should be cheerful and happy, was furious. }

{ How dare they hurt his brother. How dare they think he would not notice? . . }

{ One night, while the world was quiet and the stars were out. Dream decided to climb in the tree }

{ He climbed up to a branch on the golden fruits side and held onto one of the golden fruits. }

{ Dream knew that in order to destroy the positivity in the fruit }

{ He opened his mouth as he brought closer the fruit he protected for so long and-

{ Dream's P.O.V }

``Dream!``

{ I nearly fell of the branch, shocked to see my brother, Nightmare }

``.. Nightmare.. You're supposed to be asleep. `` { In my head I pleaded that he'd just go away and go back to sleep }

``So are you.``  { I groaned, looking at him } ``What are you doing?``

``...``  { I stared back at the apple in my hand } ``I'm helping you.``

    ``What do you mean 'helping me'? I'm fine-`` { I interrupted my brother, glaring at him }

``NO! YOU'RE NOT!`` { I bellowed, making my brother step back a little }

``Do you think I don’t see how they treat you?  How they blame you for everything?  How they hate you?`` { I felt like a worthless brother now that I said it all out loud and numbered how many things I let happen to him } ``.. Don’t you think it hurts me?``

{ Nightmare only stared up at me with a sad, self-depreciating smile on his face }

``But that’s how it has to be.  A person can’t be complete without both positive and negative feelings.``

``But they hurt you! And I'm going to make them stop! Once there’s nothing but negative feelings, they’ll have to appreciate you!`` { I didn't even realize what was becoming of me. How I was snarling at the person I was trying to protect }

{ When I met Nightmare's eye lights, they seemed to realize what I was planning to do } ``... No.``  { I barely heard him } ``Dream you can’t!``

``This is how it has to be, Night.” { I replied, glancing back at the apple }``Don’t worry, I’ll take care of everything.``

{ And with that, I bit into the golden fruit. I was flooded with positive emotions, which did not last long. I planned on eating all of the fruits I used to protect, no matter what. I was about half way with eating them before I felt my brother’s scythe hit me }

``Brother, stop this madness!`` { While Nightmare pleaded for me to stop, but I had become stronger. I knocked Nightmare aside with ease }

``Madness?``  { I questioned, meeting my brother’s lilac eye lights } ``Is it madness to wish for my dear brother to be as revered as I am? To long for him to be happy? Because if so, ``  { I couldn’t help but grin . . } ``Then I’ll gladly go insane!``

{ This time I was prepared, I dodged yet another attack from Nightmare and leapt onto a different branch of the tree. I ate even more and more apples, I couldn’t stop. I didn’t even look back at Nightmare, but he seemed to do nothing about it. Did he finally understand I was trying to help him? Finally. That was a hope which died soon enough when I finished eating all the apples and seeing Nightmare gripping onto his scythe, gritting his teeth. He launched himself at me with a mighty cry. }

{ I was shocked, staring at him in disbelief, why would he try to stop me..?! I was trying to help him! Why won’t he let me?! } ``So. You want to stop me?`` { I mused } ``Fine. Try it.`` { I summoned my staff and met Nightmare half way. We fought, Nightmare trying his very best. But I cannot be stopped now. I won’t stop. }

{ Once Nightmare was weakened, I quickly cast a sleeping spell on him, to keep him from waking. Now I could continue helping him. I carefully lifted him up and brought him back to our house, tucking him into bed. I smiled at the thought that now everything would go as planned, they would be forced to love him now. They had no choice. }

{ . . . The next morning, people woke. I could feel the people waking up with negative emotions. I sat on the roof of an house when I saw Nightmare walk out of our house. I saw people near him with pitchforks, torches, swords and spears. } ``Not. Again.``  { I mumbled to myself. }

{ I saw them talking as I got ready to jump in and save my brother, when I saw a rock fly against his skull. That. Was. It. I flew down and pushed the people out of the way, standing infront of my brother in a protective way. }

``D… Dream?`` { I heard Nightmare wisper my name, he was hesitating though. }

``Why? Why do you let them hurt you? Why don’t you ever fight back?``  { The people around us silenced, they seemed to be thinking. Nightmare did nothing to them unless they tried to steal the apples. How pathetic that they just realized that. }

``Because if they want to take it out on me, that’s fine. We heal quicker than most. I can handle it.``

``But you don’t have to, I want to rule this world. Together. It’s what we deserve after protecting these ingrates’ feelings for so long`` { I extended my hand towards my brother, I hopes so dearly that he’d just.. grab it.. come with me. But he didn’t. . }

``You’ve lost yourself, Dream.  This isn’t a game, and these people aren’t pawns on a chessboard.  I’m going to give you one chance to give up on this foolish notion and help me fix this, or we’ll fight.`` 

{ I scowled as he readied for an attack, why would he betray ME for all of them..?! } ``So this is how it will be? Fine. Then lets finish this.`` { I swung my sword at him, barely missing Nightmare. }

``Run! Get out of here!`` { Nightmare still protected them. Pathetic. }

``Why are you still protecting them after everything they did to you!?`` { I snarled, simply getting a glare as response from my brother. }

{ We traded blows but I clearly had the upper hand, I was going to win this. Atleast. That was until Nightmare got a black fruit out of his pocket, he bit into it as a goopy liquid covered him. Slimey tentacles tore from his back,waving behind his back as he looked up at me. I was shocked, I hate to admit it, but I felt some fear at the sight of him }

``Now.. Now we end this``

{ We fought, but even now, Nightmare was still too weak to defeat me. A light unwillingly shone from my skin, throwing Nightmare back. . . turning him to stone }

{ I felt empty. . . This wasn’t how I planned it to go. }

``No… This… isn’t what I wanted..!``

{ I saw as a little girl walk up to the now stone Nightmare. Assuming they were her parents, they tried to tug her away, but she shook them off and hugged Nightmare’s statue. I didn’t expect them to react this way. . }

``… Put him in the center of the town and take care of him.`` { I ordered, flying back to the castle that I took while Nightmare was asleep. I sat down on my throne. . Planning for what I would do next. }

After dreams are broken.

{ A century has past. The tree of feelings, my and Nightmare’s mom, died. And my brother’s statue still stood in the middle of the town. In that time,  a tradition had formed. Once a year, someone would eat a black fruit and they’d lit candles around the statue of my brother. Though now that the apples are gone, they just lit candles and send him wordless apologies for someone they never respected enough. Never saw how much he did for them. }

{ I, Dream, or how I am now called, king Marvul, visit his statue once a month to check any damage. I heard rumors that I miss him, I heard rumors that I don’t and just simply remind them of their duty. And tob e completely honest? I don’t know which of those is true anymore. I want to miss him, but he betrayed me fort hem. . }

{ I just sat on my throne in my castle. My lonely, lonely castle. }

{ Suddently, I felt the negative aura of my brother. Was he back? I teleported in a dark area between two houses near the center of the village. I was right, there was Nightmare, not in his stone prison this time. I saw the panic in the villagers eyes, after a century, I would be surprised if they knew Nightmare’s statue was actually a person. But they also didn’t know I saw what happened, it might not have been their faults. But I’ll make them do something anyways. Make them think it is their fault, nice and negative.}

{ Suddently, Nightmare was gone, instead of at the center of the village, he was now at the tree we both used to protect. }

{ I walked up to him, he was staring at the moon above while sitting on one of the branches of the tree. He didn’t even noticed me, so I decided to speak up. }

``It’s beautiful, isn’t it?``

{ Nightmare summoned his scythe and pointed at it at me. } ``What do you want, Dream? ``

{ I chuckled at his rash and unnecessary violent reaction. } ``It’s Marvul now, actually. And I want to repeat my offer.``

{ I was almost sure that I’d get the same answer, but it wouldn’t hurt to try. }

``I told you yesterday. No. About that, what did you do tot he tree?``

{ I looked at him, shocked. Did he really think he just fell asleep again? }

``Night, it’s been a century.``

{ He dropped his scythe. } ``What?``

``You were trapped in a statue for a century. I’ve been king in that time. The people here have been leaving candles at your statue even.``

{ I watched as Nightmare dropped to his knees, he didn’t believe the things he just heard if I had to guess. } ``What’s happened since I turned to stone?``

{ I sat next to Nightmare, hugging him just like the old times. I told him about my reign. I could see in his eye lights that he didn’t like to talk about this, but he wanted nothing else then the truth. }

`` So… These people… Their fear… It’s because of you?``

{ I nodded } ``Those who are good subjects are rewarded, but there is punishment for those who merit it.``

 { I noticed Nightmare trying to squirm out of my embrace, I responded to only holding him tighter. I looked up to see he was panicking and turning into that goop form of his again, he melted away and appeared again a few meters from me. His breath was heavy and his tentacles were out. I sighed, slightly disappointed. }

``I see. I guess I should have expected for you to be afraid of me.``  { I stood slowly up } ``I’ll give you some time. A week, maybe.`` { I smiled, making wings appear on my back and speading them, I could do this cause of the apples. Appear and reappearing them } ``Farewell, brother.`` { With that, I took off, not glancing back at him. When I landed in my castle, I fell on my knees. He would come back, right? . . }

( I think of making a part three. One I will make on my own and not inspider by @officialhalluciv ? About how Marvul and Eraser will meet perhaps? Or about Marvul and Xcellence? I don't know. I'll think of it half way the writing =w= ~Mun )

{ Third P.O.V }

{ Three people stood in an endless white void. }

``Pretty soon, all of the pain you feel is going to go away``

{ One said, reassuringly }

``How can you be so sure of that?``

``Because this place will be gone`` 

{ Another smirked, wrapping an arm around the third’s shoulder }

``What do you mean?``

``Your world is empty, but once it’s destroyed your pain will go away.`` 

`` How can you be so sure?`` 

``Come on, X, have I ever lied to you?``

`` I guess not… but…`` { The other got interrupted }

``You don’t want to say goodbye yet. Right?`` { The first one said. Which X nodded to }

``What if I told you I could rebuild your world?``

``What are you talking about? There’s no way you can--``

``I am the embodiment of all positivity in the multiverse, restoring a world is child’s play.``

``I’ll even leave you alone``

{ The second interjected }

``You and your world will be safe forever.``

{ X seemed to be considering it } ``What’s the catch?``

{The other two exchanged a look } ``Eraser here can give you the ability to travel through universes. I want you to go to genocide timelines and destroy the human, but before they can reset, you must take the soul. Once you have enough of those. I will help you recreate your world. So,`` 

{ The first one extened his hand }

``Do we have a deal?``
