Hong Kong Police Brutality
stop saying 'protestors use violence as well!1! they aren't any better!!1!' HAVE YOU EVER SEEN WHAT POLICE DID (AND WILL STILL DO)?
here's a list from just last sunday (they did similar things on several occassions before):
caused permanent damage to a young woman's right eye due to the use of rubber bullets (authorities continue to deny this despite news footage showing this to be the case)
fired tear gas 1m away from protestors horizontally inside an underground public transit station (instructions of tear gas stated it can only be used outdoors and not fired directly at people)
used strong, bright flashing lights to obstruct journalists' reporting, which also caused eye damage (while they got out of the way to say protestors' lasers caused burnt and eye strain)
used expired tear gas which had been scientifically proven to be able to form cyanide (a toxic gas)
infiltrated front-line protestors and caused conflicts between protestors, and ultimately arrested the protestors while dressed as protestors (journalists asked for their identification as the police ordinance required police that are not in their uniform to exhibit their identification when exercising their rights as police, but police refused and told the journalists to think for themselves)
pushed protestors down an elevator to arrest them
placed a long sharpened bamboo stick into a protestor's backpack during search (which was caught on camera)
these are just what happened in ONE DAY. not counting the numerous times police refused to come to rescue when mobs were going around butchering people with knifes.
the first time, they were late by 39 minutes after receiving the first report despite the police station being 5 minutes away from the place of incidence.
the second time they were late by 4 hours even though people had seen police cars patrolling in the area.
have i even mentioned just last monday, over 800 tear gases were used, many in residential areas where civilians were present. have i even mentioned the hong kong police force fired tear gas at first-aid to obstruct their work to save the hurt. have i even mentioned the time where police barged in a shopping mall to arrest protestors that were leaving for the train station, and ultimately hurt civilians that were just there to have dinner.
yes, i admit protestors did some violent actions, but they faced criminal charges for those actions, while police got free pass and the full support from government for their actions.
the list goes on and on so don't even try to justify police's misue of power by saying protestors were 'too violent'.
