Since I was a little kid, I’ve always been really good at running. I drudged through distance training during practices, but would perform my best running 100s and 200s in meets. I never did get the hang of competitive long distance running and competing in a 400m dash left me exhausted. Each race I would be so nervous before my event, but that fear and adrenaline always pushed me forward. College and life in general reminds me a lot of running and right now it feels like a marathon. And although I can picture myself reaching the finish line and beyond, although I can picture myself doing the work, and doing it well, I feel like I’m losing my drive. I want more than anything to finish strong, but I just can’t focus or generate enough momentum to get a task done. That adrenaline and fear that once helped me run some of my fastest times is now paralyzing.
