Dark Secrets (Mark/Max Closed)

It was a crisp and beautiful October morning. Max was heading out towards the grounds, of course wearing her hipster t-shirt and jeans. It was the most comfortable. She loved the morning at Blackwell, the lighting was perfect and it just made for a great start to the day. She spoke with Samuel for a few moments before heading to the front of Blackwell. She then saw a beautiful bird fly onto the statue by the wishing well of Blackwell. She stopped to take a photo, it wasn’t spectacular by any means, but it was pretty cool.

She then headed towards the buses. She didn’t have English because of Ms Hoida’s depression. So she decided to go to the Two Whales with Chloe and have some breakfast before class with Mr Jefferson. Sigh. She loved him. He was handsome, and a great teacher with great style! He too was pretty hipster and she liked that about him. He could be pretentious and sarcastic, but she also admired his professionalism. Finally the bus came and took her to the Two Whales, on the ride there she started to think about what menu item to choose this morning...

After her wonderfully delicious breakfast and animated chat with Chloe about her rewind powers she headed back to Blackwell. Chloe dropped her off and smiled.

“Have fun, hippie! Enjoy Mr Jefferson’s class.” 

She winked. Max just rolled her eyes and waved at her best friend before heading into the school. She played her iPod while going to class, not wanting to talk to anyone. Especially not Victoria and her Vortex disciples. Once she got to class she took out her headphones and sat in the back desk as usual. She laid out all of her items including her camera and waited for class to start. Looking around she noticed that she was early and nobody was in here except for her and Mr Jefferson who looked to be concentrating on marking.

Chloe was waiting for Max to get out of class, that was the one thing that sucked about not being in school anymore. There was so much time in the day that she was just bored out of her mind.  So she sat on a bench on the school campus smoking a cigarette.  She had been waiting in her truck but thought that was a little creepy.  Taking a long drag she saw one of the teachers walking over to her.  “If you’re going to yell at me for smoking on school property I don’t care.”

           Chloe looked at him and took a deep breath, adrenaline kicking in she took a deep breath as she bit down on her lower lip out of frustration. She could not find Max anywhere and it was driving her insane. She kept him in place as she wanted to just hit him. ❝— Where the hell is Max?!❞ She yelled at him. She had been doing this for to long . She lost Rachel but she will not lose Max. She felt so ALONE . And she had been following Jefferson around for awhile and something didn’t seem right about him.

                             SHIT .  she actually broke it . oh god , how was she                              going to explain this to max . dana had a bad feeling                                        this was going to happen . she saw that it was a little                                         too close to the ledge ! fuck . i’m soo sorry max !!                                        slender fingers carefully picked up shattered glass                                        that were scattered across the floor of mr. jefferson’s                                        classroom . dana heard the door open && began to                                        panic , thinking it was max coming back from using                                        the bathroom . i’m dead . but when the cheerleader                                        turned her head , she saw jefferson . better than max 

                                    ❝ mr. jefferson , i was just leaving BUT                                                     i accidentally bumped the table &&                                                     knocked over max’s frame . i feel awful . ❞

They’d all chipped in to buy a cake for a classmate’s birthday, and Mr. Jefferson was nice enough to let them eat it during his lecture. Of course this only lead to Max becoming even more withdrawn at her spot in the back of the room, eyes and mind more focused on the dessert in front of her than her professor.

Not that she wasn’t listening– he was talking about cyanotypes, how the process was discovered by an astronomer that was just trying to find an easy way to make copies of his notes, and how they should all start thinking of something that would look nice in blue because they’d be developing their own cyanotypes in the future for a class project.

But still, she didn’t notice the way his voice seemed to be getting closer, and nearly jumped out of her chair when fingers suddenly touched her cheek.

By the time she looked up Jefferson was already walking away and making a comment about not paying attention, and Max was left to clean cake frosting off her blushing face.

“I-I’m sorry, I thought... My mistake.” 

Victoria stumbled out of the classroom doorway, swearing she saw a flash of familiar blonde hair behind Mr. Jefferson. She almost laughed, but the look in his eyes was unforgiving, serious, and almost frightening.
