The Holy Roman Empire was one of Cristiano’s favorite places in the world if you judged by the arrangements he’d made for his daughters to marry, so it shouldn’t be any surprise that he was inclined to kindness for anyone that came from that region of the world, be they born there or married into the realm.

He admired the Empress for the power she held and he admired her daughters for their loveliness and cleverness, and the woman before him was one that Cristiano thought he could also come to have high regard for. From what he’d heard of Princess Ivana, it seemed as if she was interested in furthering relations, so what kind of host would he be if he didn’t visit her and extend the same regard.

“Do you have any time for an old king?” Cristiano asked as he observed the Princess, unashamedly observing what she was doing. “Or are you too busy with your work, fair lady?”

Visiting the Palácio do Correio-Mor was an exercise in distraction since William didn’t seem capable of visiting and actually accomplishing just what he went there for. Perhaps it was unprofessional to get so distracted, but William had to admit that it was true whenever he wandered to the palatial residence that housed the Holy Roman Empire during their time in Portugal.

There was a goal in his mind, as there always was, but the sound of a child crying was something that caught his ear and his mind, William’s feet stopping in place as he turned his head. He hadn’t been aware there were children in the complex and it wasn’t his problem if there was, but William liked children. Even in England, he didn’t ignore the distress of the royal children and was instead prone to spoiling them even when they were being seen to by someone else.

It was meant only to be a brief detour as William followed the sound of the child, soon locating both the child and the person he assumed to be the child’s mother. “Someone doesn’t sound happy. Hello there, I take it they’re yours?”

Alexandre is in top physical form so to say he is pleased about his body and his physical appareance is an understatement. He knows that he is physically at his best and is regarded as handsome by most which only adds to his growing confidence.

As much as he would have loved to drink and indulge himself in various other pleasures, the prince did have his own tasks to attend to, which meant that on this day he was carrying books, scrolls, and parchment in his arms back to his quarters to read through them, already bored with the duty before he begun. Though he was somewhat strong due to caring too much for his appearance, the books felt heavy in his arms, as though the words within them were weighing them down. Or it could have been that his grasp on them was weak in his laziness. Such was the life of a diplomat, he though with a heavy sigh as he rounded a corner sharply and almost too late, noticed a pillar in his way. 

Though he was no agile swordsman, he managed to avoid a collision, stepping back in time at the sake of his quill and a few parchments. His eyes fell on them for a moment, wondering how he would manage to retrieve them with the least amount of effort when he saw a figure in the distance. “You there, girl!” He called. “ Lovely girl! Do you think you could find it in your sweet heart to assist me? I seem to have dropped something..”

Part of me wants to say that he likes Isabel and dislikes John, but that’s unfair because families are far more complicated than that. He likes that Isabel seems happy about her marriage and with her children, he dislikes all the fits that Isabel’s had in response to Edward’s behavior. He likes getting to vent with Eleanor about John’s behavior, but he dislikes that John acts as Eleanor’s pimp and doesn’t seem to realize how his actions can hurt their family. He likes that Eleanor has spent so much time being part of his family, he dislikes the animosity that bleeds between Eleanor and Isabel. I could keep going, but as you can tell, William is filled with likes and dislikes for his family dynamic.

           harry is somewhat typical of his time in that he’s been bred to be a well-rounded prince; this naturally includes athletic pursuits, of which he’s become especially fond, and other outlets that more neatly tie into being a consummate diplomat. he enjoys, and is skilled at, archery, jousting (for which he has accumulated a reputation in london), hunting, swordsmanship, and writing, though true to his stature as the future king of england, he is also well versed in music and composition, dancing, philosophy and oration. as for hobbies, harry collects and breeds horses (for the purpose of racing) and has accrued a small (emphasis on small) fortune that is added to his inheritance from the privy purse through his meagre winnings. he also wields swords and owns a magnificent collection of 11th – 13th century welsh steel which is 100% the equivalent of being a medieval nerd. other hobbies, far removed from his duties as prince, may include: gambling, drinking, women, competition and yes, more drinking.

something that i haven’t touched on a lot and yet think quite a bit about is that harry is a great appreciator of art. i’ve always believed that in a modern au, harry would be a painter on the side! he very rarely dabbles into art, though may, at times, sketch, paint, or oversee architectural plans for cathedrals and palaces in london, as he believes he has an eye for such things. and, as a child, he would frequently be lambasted for doodling in the edges of his book of hours (i can’t wait for these things to be recovered in 500 years and for historians to be like, ‘wow this kid was kinda a dick huh’.)
