Regulus was not often one for mingling with other houses, other than a few exceptions for influential Hufflepuffs or Ravenclaws. He’d never mingle with Gryffindors though, nor would any respectful Slytherin. However he had found himself forced to attend a party in the Ravenclaw common room where it was unavoidable that he run into some lions. He was however surprised to see one of his brother’s filthy friends without any sign of the others as he approached the table with the drinks. “Lupin, correct? Where are the rest of your pathetic gang?”

“ Good morning, Professor!” Ella greeted as she hopped along the brick wall which laden the walkway to the courtyard. She was nimble as she seemed to dance along it. 

“You’re up early, Professor Lupin. Couldn’t sleep?” she asked. The elf smiled, though she was small in stature, she made up for it by being as pleasant as she could, after all, there was no reason to be mean.

   Regulus had just about had it with the cold. Sure, snow was nice for the first week or so, but after months of trudging through snow and frozen quidditch practices, Regulus had pretty well had it. It was after one of said frozen practices that Regulus quickly tried to make his way back to his common room to warm up. His rush caused him to not pay as much attention as he should; which in turn caused him to, upon rounding a corner, come face to face with one Remus Lupin. Literally.

   “Watch where you’re going.” Regulus scowled, rubbing his reddening forehead with icy fingers.

          IF THERE was one thing that one could not fault a vampire for, it was their n o s e s. valeria had an uncanny sense of smell, one that often made day to day tasks a literal h e a d a c h e - but for all the migraines and upturned expressions ( would it kill Crabbe to have a shower... ), it did give her... insight, to those around her. 

          and so Professor Lupin’s own smell had not gone unnoticed; the smell of blood and broken bones and dirt. of dusty fur. the way he smelled unfortunately of wet dog after one of his monthly disappearances. and where others may have felt fear, encompassing and overwhelming, Valeria only feels... kinship, however unspoken. for all their efforts to keep her ailment a secret, Professor Dumbledore and Professor Flitwick were not a source of comfort for they didn’t understand... but maybe --

“Well I have to say I don’t know who one of the people you’re referring to is,” or at least he assumed the best friend was in reference to Sirius. Really the boyfriend part could be about his brother as well though he had never heard of the two being involved. “Good luck though, between the supposed curse and Snape you’ll need it if you want to keep your new job.”
