I've been in a process of learning to feel more. This means tapping into my senses. I hear singing coming from the favela near my house, I smell and feel the ocean breeze and I see the birds circling outside my window. The overwhelming sensation is a clear reflection of my outer world. At the moment, I feel pure pleasure, but sometimes I feel pain, sadness or anger. All these sensations reflect back to me information based upon my outer experiences.
My inner and outer worlds mirror one another. I am the sum of my experiences. The line between my perception of me and other is continually blurred. I don't know where I end and others begin. Yet, my senses are not one directional. They cycle inward and outward, pulling information into my body as sensation, processing with the mind and reflecting back into the world. Thus, the energy I project into the world is directly relational to the energy I absorb and metabolize.
As a extreme empath, I feel so much of the outer world that the connection with my true essence becomes muddled. My identity is wrapped up in my perception of how I relate to my experience of the outer world. When I experience joy, I become joy. And when I experience suffering, I become suffering. An awareness rises within me that seeks to transmute this sensation. It's as if my body, mind and spirit harmonize to transform this suffering into joy. This feels like me.
I am most connected with my true essence when I'm helping others actualize their full potential. All my senses sharpen and I feel a sense of calm wash over me. I am in my flow. I feel grounded, powerful, confident and connected to source. I feel infinite. This feeling is pure and true. I am in service.
We cannot serve unless we are firmly rooted in ourselves. If we cannot feel ourselves, we cannot feel others. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot love others. If we cannot take care of ourselves, we cannot take care of others.
'To be' is to feel everything, without judgement. Resistance to any sensation only perpetuates that sensation. To allow our selves to feel all sensation fully is to release it. When nurtured, our bodies are designed to thrive. They have an innate resilience to transmute all experience to produce health and wellness.
When we feel well, that wellness naturally flows out into the world. We are all channels. We need not do anything but nurture our being to feel well. For when we do, that feeling ripples out into the world infecting everyone in our presence.
