Asuma’s death had taken quite a toll on all of them — after all, they’d been training under him for years, as a team. To imagine continuing on without their teacher to guide them was painful. In fact, at this point he was more than just a teacher for Team 10. 

He was like a father.

Even after a long time, Ino’s tears wouldn’t dry as she thought back on all the happy memories — things that back then she didn’t think she’d appreciate as much as she did now. If only they had been able to protect Asuma. If only her healing would’ve been effective.

‘They’re clumsy, so take care of them...’

She recalled his words before dying, telling her to take care of both Choji and Shikamaru. And yet, there she was, by far the most distressed of them all, having trouble to even stand as the tears kept coming. 

It seemed like Shikamaru had realized, because he helped her stand properly and then guided her over to a nearby wall, which she could lean on. The young woman let out a sob as blue eyes looked up at her teammate.

             TAISHIRO ALWAYS felt a rush of enjoyment when his interns decide to come in. Kirishima and Tamaki have always been a delight, but his day always gets a bit brighter when he gets the opportunity to work with Yaoyorozu, or rather Creati. Her quirk is something he respects and her mind even more and he’s always pleased to be able to help further her education however he can. When he sees her go through the door of his office he sits up more and waves her in with a big greeting. 

“Creati! Ya made it! Glad ya decided to stop by, heard nothin’ but good things about ya. And it was a pleasure workin’ with ya that other time with Iida!”

Her question wasn’t unreasonable given his behavior in the past,  but it still made something uncomfortable flare inside Sylvain’s chest.  His own actions had made the question happen,  however much progress and growth he had made over the past five and a half years.

Still, it was hard to lie to Mercedes.  Something about her made him want to be better.  Honest.  Loyal.

“Mercedes,”  he began,  starting a few times as he tried to find the right words. Simple flattery and verbose praise and eloquent statements of fairy tale romance came easily for him,  but honest confessions and dedications were … harder.  “You’re beautiful.  But it’s not just how you look . It’s who you are.  I know I don’t have the best track record, but… I mean it when I say I want to spend my life with you.  I’ll grow old too… we both will.  But we can do it together.”
